Wonderful Family Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

For Spring Break this year, we took our 4 kids to this beautiful cabin on the lake for a week. Although Michigan in early March is unpredictable and, true to form, we had snow, sleet, rain, sun, and wind during our stay, we were snug as bugs in the cabin. No matter the weather, the view was always beautiful. We walked the beach, saw the sunset, looked at incredible amounts of stars and, mostly, stayed inside for some needed bonding time over board games and home-cooked meals. It was wonderful bonding for all of us.

We did venture out: highly recommend House of Flavors in Ludington (free ice cream in the winter!). We learned about Muskegon in the Lakeshore Museum Center (interesting enough for the price of admission: free) and made the one-hour drive to Grand Rapids to sample beer at Founder's!

Owner Mike Anderson was the most gracious, friendly and accommodating person we've encountered on VRBO. He called to check up on us when we got some snow and ice, answered all of our questions cheerfully, and was just overall incredibly considerate and helpful.

I imagine this cabin is incredibly ideal when it's warm enough to enjoy the beach and actually get in the water, but as a get-away-from-it-all (yet still retain TV and WiFi for entertainment) this clean, cozy and wonderful cabin was GREAT. We are taking back wonderful memories of togetherness and that is priceless.

Hard to find, VERY easy to enjoy!

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is situated on a dune that overlooks Lake Michigan with beautiful views from nearly every window. Made up of three bedrooms (with room for more than 8 heads), a small galley kitchen, large dining table (inside and outside), and a lovely sectional couch, it's perfect for a medium-sized family/group. And the kitchen is outfitted with nearly everything you will need during your stay.

While it is a bit of a long drive on one lane wooded road, the remote location means no traffic/noise/crowding.

If you are not mobile, be aware of the long stairwell to the cottage and down to the beach. And if you are tall/large, the small bathroom and shower stall could be difficult to navigate.

The owner is attentive and easy to reach, if anything comes up during your stay.

I loved our winter stay at the cottage ... so much so we are returning in August! Highly recommended!

Great place with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

I had a very positive experience during my stay here. Starting with Mike's pleasant attitude and warm hospitality from the moment we booked. He always stayed in contact with us and helped us with any concerns.

The location is beautiful. The views of Lake Michigan from the cottage are spectacular. The cottage is well kept and has cable TV and board games as well when you feel like staying in. It has the feeling of being on a private beach. Even though we ended up with cloudy days during our recent stay, we managed to get out and walk on the beach very often. I would love to rent this place again over the summer as well.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely gorgeous views of Lake Michigan. The house was warm and welcoming as we watched the huge waves and recovered from a walk on the icy beach. Perfect!

Breathtaking views

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here end of October for a week long break from the hustle and bustle of life. What an amazing location. The beach allows dogs & ours loved the freedom to run and smell for miles.

The cottage was the perfect place to come back to after a long walk and snuggle up on the massive couch. We cooked daily and the kitchen while small had all the tools/pots/pans that we needed.

The area has plenty to do if you choose to drive in to town. We took in several of the local restaurants, strolled the Farmers Market and found a Corn Maze close by.

We would come back to this cottage in a heartbeat. The only drawback were the stairs up to the cottage. Not a problem when you aren't lugging supplies up from the car but definitely something you should be aware of if renting. Once at the top you won't be disappointed; the views during the day are fantastic and as anyone who has been to Lake Michigan knows the sunsets are breathtaking.

Owner's Response: Beth & Husband, Thank you for coming up to visit at my cottage in October this year. This time of year is always so beautiful on Lake Michigan's Shoreline and more relaxing when it is a little more quiet and peaceful after a busy summer season. I am so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and that would consider coming back to visit again. There are so many cool things to see and do in the area. I have been coming up to this area for a long time and I still have not been able to see everything that I would like to see. I hope you can make it back again in the future. Best Regards, Mike
