This Beautiful house sits on a hilltop above the most Exotic Beaches in the Osa Peninsula, "Cabo Matapalo". Pan Dulce, Backwash Bay, and Playa Matapalo de Osa. A short hike down our pathway through Primary Rainforest, where it is common to see all 4 types of Monkeys, Scarlett Macaws, Toucans, and possible to see more rare animals. As this property is surrounded by thousands of acres of Rainforest, that connects to the famed, Corcovado National Park, home to 80% of all wildlife in all of Costa Rica, making it an ideal destination for any nature lover.

The Home,

The Largest home in Osa Peninsula, sleeps up to 20 guests very comfortably, we have Four Detached Private Suites all with Private Bathrooms and Alfresco Showers, Great for Large or Smaller groups as this house is so private, and size groups enjoy its privacy, as its all yours to enjoy, price of course is less for smaller groups more for larger, so inquire for your individual group price quote, and ask Brad the Manager for a discount. In the pictures you can see the Massive Palm Thatched Rancho, which serves as the Gathering or Entertaining Area of the House. It is nearly 3000 sf that encompasses the Living Rooms (2), TV room, Dining Room, Kitchen, and Loft, and then, the Center Circle is great for Yoga Groups as it seems to have an Aura, an Energy Field in the Apex of the Rancho's inlaid Mosaic Marble Medallion. This house was built with Luxury and Comfort in mind as no cost was spared in achieving that, as it has all the comforts of home, as it will be your home when you stay with us, as they say "Mi Casa es Su Casa". The owners Motto.

Temperatures,

Being Elevated on hilltop, it catches the cool Pacific Ocean Breezes and since it borders the cool Rainforest surrounding on 3 sides, this maintains the house cool and refreshing all seasons of the year, You will actually need to cover up with a thin blanket at night, as the over head ceiling fans above all beds, and the window design with all Louvered and Screened windows let in the cool nights breezes coming in off the ocean.

Activities,

Brad can arrange all your tours in advance to make it a much less stressful ordeal of trying to figure it all out with The Maze of Tours in Osa Peninsula. Give him the ages of your group an he can make recommendations based on your individual group.

Many of these tours/excursions are the boating trips since we are a Peninsula, Whale and Dolphin Tour which is by far the most booked tour of all at Tres Palmas and in Osa, Fishing is great in Costa Rica, inshore, offshore full day 1/2 day, range from $450 to$1000, Zip Lines, Canopy Tours, Waterfall Rappelling, Tree Climbing, Horseback riding, on the beach or up in the mountains to a waterfall, Guided hiking treks, in Matapalo and nearby or into the Corcovado National Park, Surfing Lessons and Paddle Boarding, Kayaking, Ocean or Mangroves. AIR FARES,, Domestic in country flights to get you to Osa in 50 mins, can be arranged and booked through Brad, and we can beat most prices here too since we book so many during the years, and can get discounts. Or if you prefer we can arrange SHUTTLE BUS, transports to Osa from San Jose for any size group, if flying makes you uncomfortable, or you just want to see the Beautiful Countryside, its worth is but 6 hour drive.

Osa Peninsula, as National Geographic put it, is one of the most biologically intense places on earth, we have your perfect private 8500 sf Villa Estate, that sits on 25 acres of Primary Rain-Forest. Tres Palmas Costa Rica, Villa has a personal chef and kitchen staff to cook all of your meals, you choose the menu. A full time, onsite Masseuse is always available for a relaxing Massage or Spa Treatment anytime you want it, from the comfort of your suite or patio. The Pacific Ocean stretches out to the horizon, In the distance, one can see the tip of Panama across the Gulfo Dulce. Behind you are hundreds of acres of primary forest teeming with wildlife. Below are magnificent beaches with some of the best fishing and surfing the world has to offer. It's only a short hike down our path.

Tres Palmas catches the cooling tropical breezes coming in from the Gulfo Dulce and Pacific Ocean. The sound of the surf rolling in the distance, scarlet macaws calling to their mates, while howler monkeys cavort overhead, lull you into a sense of harmony with nature. In the midst of this spectacular setting, a secluded luxury, exotic house has been built in a Modern Spanish style under the massive palm thatched roof. This keeps the temperature cool in the day and at night even in summer time, with the ocean breezes, and nestled into the rainforest.

The area was once home to the Brunca Indians that settled in southern Costa Rica and the western part of Panama. Pieces of native pottery can be found by those that care to look. The Indians considered this a holy place and many who stay here find a spiritual peace that is quite uplifting.

Our property is home to all four types of monkeys, hundreds of bird species including toucans and scarlet macaws, sloth, iguana, anteaters, and a myriad of other animal species. Plant specimens are varied and abundant. This magical place offers the rare opportunity to experience nature at its most spectacular and unspoiled.

Perfect paradise in every way imaginable !!

Left on Feb 15, 2016 for a stay in Jan 2016

Just returned from a 14 night stay at Tres Palmas. Group of 16 that consisted of 4 families of 2 adults and 2 children (There were 6 girls 8-11 and one 14 years of age plus one boy 10 years of age). We drove ourselves from SJO. 4x4's are an absolute necessity for the trip to/from Puerto Jimenez. We enjoyed this part of the adventure ! The sleeping arrangements: The two, two bedroom Cabinas slept 2 of our families, whilst the loft slept 4 of the more adventurous girls with their parents sleeping in the two other one bedroom Cabinas. Perfect for our group in all respects ! The cabinas are very well appointed and comfortable with bathrooms with outdoor showers and fans. The huge thatch roof covered main living area is absolutely stunning, needing to be seen to be believed yet so very practical: A loft area that sleeps 4 very comfortably (could sleep 6), with a 1/2 bath below for those in the loft. The kitchen has everything needed for a large group. Huge pantry, large chest freezer, large chest fridge, multiple coolers for beverages. The multiple lounging/living areas were very comfortable and allowed our group to congregate together or spread out as desired. Hammock was used always, two large tables for playing games or for dining, several areas with couches for relaxing, reading or napping were enjoyed as well. A perfect place to "hide" from the sun and catch the breezes during the day and take a siesta or hang out when the sun went down. The deck area is huge, offering indescribable, postcard views of the gulf and surrounding property. Watch the sun rise, enjoy the daily shows that the Toucans, Green Parrots and Scarlet Macaws put on a show every morning and evening. Catch the full power of the near equatorial sunshine during the day, take an outdoor shower then slide into the infinity pool to cool off. The kids and adults spent countless hours in both areas during the early morning, all day and into each evening. Simply perfect. We chose to have the property caretakers (Marvin and his wonderful family) shop for, prepare and perform clean up for our breakfast and supper meals. This was one of the best decisions we could have made for the group as everyone raved about the quality of the food and the service. Pizza in the outdoor stone fireplace was one highlight, grilled tenderloin and seafood on the outdoor grill another. Guacamole and chips every nigh

Testimonials

A Memorable Trip

The trip from Puerto Jimenez (12 miles or a 45 minutes drive) to Tres Palmas was like a fairly tale drive through thick tropical forest and lush vegetation running down from the mountains and touching the ocean to our left. Birds and wildlife were abundant, but there was a noticeable lack of traffic, road signs, power lines and people. Perfect!

Along the way we quartered the Gulfo Dulce and at times came to open cattle pastures with majestic views of tubing waves breaking at point breaks in the distance.

Once we reached the entrance to Tres Palmas the fun really began! The drive up and down the 1 mile road was steep and exciting! The size of the trees towering all around us was incredible and we could hear and see howling monkeys. My immediate thoughts were, “We've found paradise!” But the best was yet to come. The Tres Palmas property overlooks Cabo Matapalo. The vista is downright breathtaking. I've never witnessed a more moving perspective in all of Costa Rica!

The amazing thing about this area is that there are so many amazing things to do and see. Within a walking distance you can experience world class surfing, hiking, wildlife, beach combing, fishing and much more.

The accommodations and food were all 5 star class.

This was my fifth multi-week trip to Costa Rica and hands down because of our visit to Tres Palmas it will be always the most memorable and exciting.

Amazing, gorgeous, warm and friendly

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd time in Costa Rica; Osa was a new area for us and we are so glad we chose Tres Palmas in every single way. Our entrance to the villa was breathtaking and truly spectacular. The profusion of flowers, the incredible view, the design and the layout was perfect for our group of 12: Ron and I (parents and grandparents) daughter Lara and her husband and 2 teenage girls, son Jere and his son and daughter, Zach and his son and daughter (kid's ages 4 to 17). It was easy to select the perfect room for us. We really loved all the cozy areas in the large rotunda to appeal to any given constellation of people for games, coloring, reading, napping. The kids loved the pool, there were always fresh towels stacked up for us, we had room on a shelf and the fridge for our groceries and the kitchen was always neat and clean. We all loved the guacamole and chips, bean dip, salsa etc. each late afternoon. The food was truly delicious, choices delectable, special gluten free and vegetarian meals for Molly, everything cooked to perfection and served with flower arrangements on the table and buffet and in the serving dishes as well! We could suggest meals and the times for serving according to our schedule each day.

We did 3 excursions - all of which we highly recommend and it should be noted that the hosts/guides were very accommodating, knowledgeable, friendly and sensitive to little ones with initial anxiety (horses). We went with Josh for a Dolphin trip, with a lovely man for a horseback ride to a gorgeous waterfall (with ample time to play in it) and the Mangrove Kayak with Rudolpho. Each one served fresh fruit snacks and drinks and provided lots of explanation and history. We were glad to have rental cars so we could explore various beaches and hikes. Wildlife was so interesting plentiful and magical.

I have to say that probably the nicest surprise and foundation for our stay, were the very friendly and helpful caretakers - Marjorie, Yerlin and Alex. In spite of their very minimal English, we managed beautifully with gestures, expressions and the genuine welcome and interest they showed in our family. They made a birthday cake for 2 family members, danced with our little ones at several 'dance parties' held before dinner. They cast a spell of warmth and joy during the whole stay which just pulled the magic of this vacation together in such a lovely way.

Thank you so so much! Ginny & Ron

Your own private Eden. Really.

  • 5 of 5

Tres Palmas is truly exceptional. For those who care about these things, the quality of the construction, the finishes, and landscaping of this property were absolutely first-class. We spent a good deal of time admiring the enormous thatched roof and never ascended or descended the driveway on foot or by vehicle without shaking our heads in wonder that someone constructed that acutely steep path. Nota bene: do not rent an undersized vehicle -- follow the guidelines outlined on the website, you'll be very glad you did.

It's true that Tres Palmas is very luxurious, but also extremely comfortable and welcoming with gracious spaces for large groups. We were 9 people, but you could accommodate 16+ with no trouble. The staff were lovely, our meals were terrific, and we felt like we were living in our own private Eden. Really.

A pair of yellow-headed caracaras (affectionately named Mercedes and Groucho) were raising young in a palm tree on the lawn and used the stunning infinity pool as their own. They perched and had a drink, and were clearly not afraid of the nuisance humans sipping gins and rums and so on.

Our group did leave Tres Palmas to take in other activities -- day and night hikes, kayaking, a boat tour, a turtle patrol -- but we were always so happy to return to Tres Palmas for rest or exploration. The driveway itself was an incredible place to birdwatch, or look for reptiles, mammals, insects and more. And then there are the stairs down to the Matapalo Beach Road -- we counted about 400 -- where you will encounter birds of course, but also troops of monkeys going about their business. Lucky for us, almost every troop we encountered had tiny babies and witnessing the interaction with their mothers and siblings was completely captivating.

Once down on the Matapalo Beach Road there was lots going on. Gorgeous beaches all along, a little waterfall at the end of the road, a few lodges where where you can stop in for a drink, and visitors and locals to chat with.

Each of the sleeping areas have gorgeous outdoor showers. It was one of my favourite things to step out and rinse off the sand and salt and see what creatures might be in there with me or who might be flying over. Amazing.

There's so much more to tell you, but honestly, Tres Palmas was such a wonderful experience I almost hate to share it. You will not be disappointed.

10/10 - everything was perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this place was amazing. Just read the other reviews - I won't repeat it all here! The rooms, the staff, the wildlife - everything was better than described.

We were a family of 12 from age 6 - 75 and everyone had a wonderful time!! My only concern is that you will rent it during the week we want to come back!
