When people hear the words train station they conjure up something quite different than what they find at Union Station. I am a former realtor in the District of Columbia so I know location. This is one you're sure to enjoy. The convenience of being able to walk to most places of interest while having the option of using Union Station Metro (DC subway system very user friendly).
We travel and the experience isn't always as pleasant as it could be with a little more effort. So we knew the level of service we wanted to provide to our guest, we give that little bit extra to make sure you enjoy and recommend us. We want your referral, so please let your family and friends know how nice was your stay.
We can't over-emphasize the location, cleanliness, peace and quiet provided by the 'Suite Up on the Hill 2' but the key to enjoying you stay is the owner/manager Ingrid. She is just a phone call or email away and very helpful without being too intrusive.
I almost did not rent this place as it is called 'Suite on the Hill' and as a tourist, I thought there would be an actual hill we would need to climb to get there. I checked it out on Google maps and there was clearly no hill which could have been an issue for my Dad. For a house built in 1840, his place was so much better than I expected! Plenty of hot water, air conditioning, cable TV, computer with internet and even a washer and dryer. I wasn't even bummed that the curtain rod fell down when I tried to move the curtains, or that the door came off of the closet in my room as these were the only even slightly negative comments I could make. What do I like about this place?... LOCATION! From here you can walk to all of the major tourist attractions, or catch a Circulator bus or a taxi from Union Station about 1 block away. QUIET! I was concerned that proximity to Union Station would mean noise from trains. Not a sound! The street is very quiet with almost no traffic. NEIGHBORHOOD! Super coffee shop across the street and GREAT Italian Restaurant at the corner. INGRID! So nice and easy to work with. She made us feel very welcome on arrival and was available if we were to need anything - which we did not. The suite is very comfy and plenty large enough for the four of us who were there at the time. BATHROOMS! We had 2 so there was never any problem with access. The bathtub is huge and has jets. Another plus!Overall, I would say that my family and I would definitely return and have already recommended this property to other travellers. I also very much appreciated the prompt return of my security deposit which I received in less than a week after departing.Just watch your shins when you enter as the trundle bed in the front room offers only a small clearance between it and the door. A cable TV guide would be useful as it did take me about 20 minutes to figure out how to turn on the TV and which channels we got.Enjoy your stay in beautiful Washington DC
This home will be our first choice to stay when we return to D.C. Ingrid and Deon are very accommodating and easy to work with. Union station is two easy blocks away for all transportation needs. The house is warm and cozy with easy to use appliances.
My family of five were very comfortable in this home. Previous recommendations were affirmed with regards to the Italian restaurant and coffee house down the street. I would also recommend Union Grocery for a breakfast or lunch sandwich. Overall, this home was perfect for our trip to D.C. We were able to walk and see everything that we wanted. I would stay there again without reservation.
The location of this rental was excellent, being 5 mins walk from union station.
Broken Wiring from heating appliance was exposed.
Seating for 4 adults was Inpracticle. There needs to be some basic supplies of sugar and tea and coffee as how it has been in every other place that we have stayed. Some nice restaurants close by.
Couldn't have asked for a better location...a block to Union Station! Home had everything you need. Grocery store was less than 2 blocks away, coffee and restaurant right outside the door. All was great except the main bedroom mattress was incredibly firm--left me feeling sore each morning but the living room bed was soft. Seemed a little warm initially but each room had a fan the sleeping temperature was good. Would definitely stay here again!
Ingrid and Deon were very easy to work with. They were very responsive and attentive but not the least bit intrusive. Deon did a great job welcoming us and giving us the "lay of the land." Ingrid was very responsive to a minor issue with the air conditioning, and it was taken care of right away.
The home is very comfortable. We have a family of 5 with 3 adult-sized teenagers. Two of the kids slept on the day bed and trundle in the living room which did not provide much privacy but the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with the necessary items. It was also surprisingly quiet considering the busyness of the neighborhood. We never heard noisy neighbors. The neighborhood was very safe and pleasant. There were many friendly people walking past throughout the day and into the evening. The location is so convenient with many choices for transportation without a car of your own. Parking might be an issue if you have a car. There were also many choices for restaurants, one large grocery store within walking distance as well as a great local coffee shop on the corner.
This VRBO was a great experience for us!
My family enjoyed out stay and will be back. We highly recommend this property. It was clean, homey and very centerally located. Myself and 3 more adults stayed comfortably. I suggest the little market/cafe at the end of the street to the left. The owners were awesome and helpful from our first contact onward.
