Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 full ensuite bathrooms, Sleeps 2 - 6 comfortably.

Hidden among mature trees and tropical gardens is this oasis in Sayulita: Casa Duende.

Each of the three well-appointed bedrooms at Casa Duende have their own private en-suite bathrooms. A high, decorative wall blocks the view into the Casa from passersby street side, and the walls surrounding the side and back of the house ensure that the grounds are totally private. Guests can relax on the large, ground-level patio, equipped with a stainless-steel BBQ, sink and bar/counter - plus make use of the built-in wood smoker for the fresh fish you'll get from the local fishermen.

The two upper level bedrooms have a palapa-covered living room, and overlook the gardens and neighboring trees. The doors to the kitchen and living room are completely screened and open up onto the patio for a view of the bouganvillas, banana trees, cactus plants and gardens. Casa Duende is a quick, level, 3-minute walk to the plaza and to Sayulita beach.

There are no hills to walk, making this ideally accessible for all ages. There are stores nearby for purchasing groceries or other necessities. While there is no need for a car at Casa Duende, there is street parking should you require it.

Sit outside and listen to the birds while you have your morning coffee or a dinner of fresh fish that you just smoked and BBQ'd outside.

Life doesn't get better than Casa Duende.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our other rental for the week was full, and we need two more rooms, luckily we were able to rent Casa Duende for 4 nights. It is in a great location close to town and a very comfortable 3 bedroom with a great outdoor area to cook and relax. You can't go wrong and the price is excellent.

Perfect location

  • 4 of 5

Overall the house was amazing. PROS: Everything you need for a great stay. The owner was very accommodating to our large group. Plenty of dishes and glasses and cook wear. Over head fans and an extra floor fan. The master bedroom has the ac unit and if you leave the door to the room open it will also keep the living room and kitchen area cool as well. Sitting out on the patio we saw many birds and an iguana every day. Close to town but far enough away that it's not to noisy...... except for the roosters but you can't escape them in Sayulita! It's part of the charm! CONS: The house is lower than the road, you open a gate to some stairs to go down to get to the house. There is no railing on these stairs so they can be a little dangerous, especially at night because the sensor lighting doesn't always come on right away. My 75 year old dad took a tumble over the edge half way down. Thankfully he was OK. They really need to put some sort of railing up.

Overall the house is a great place to stay and we would stay again when we return.

Owner's Response: Hi Stephanie Thanks so much for your review. We are so happy that the location worked out for you. It is nice being so close to town but still very quiet. I am so sorry to hear that your dad took a fall. We will definitely take a look at the railing situation and see what can be done to install one. We look forward to having you stay at Casa Duende for a future trip to Sayulita. Joe and Carolyn

sayulita 2/17

  • 4 of 5

we booked a week here for 4 of us. had a great time. lovely home. used the outdoor kitchen only a few times because there are so many great inexpensive places to grab a meal downtown. the garden is beautiful. loved reading in the hammock. only things to change would be the chairs in the upstairs patio are falling apart and uncomfortable. the bedrooms all need lamps by the beds, not just the over head light( not sufficient for bed time reading) and there is no place to hang clothes in one of the upstairs bedrooms. just a few hooks would do. there is not pool of any kind, but we knew that when booking. this is in a great location close to beach and downtown. easy walk to everything, only up a small hill. you do have to climb a lot of stairs getting in and out of the property, so not good for anyone with mobility problems, but I would definitely book this again. LOVED Sayulita

We loved it!!!!

  • 5 of 5

The owners and property managers were so nice and prompt with service. It was very nice to have coffeee and water there since we got in so late . The only thing that was a down size were the other two rooms being away from us. We have a 3 year old toddler so I was awake worrying about her being so far away from me but with teenagers it worked out just fine. We loved everyone had their own bathroom !!! I would let folks know that the landscapes come. I was caught off guard when 2 strange men came in. So awesome house keeping came in twice as the house does get sandy . We loved the location and were with in walking distance to everything . I would recommend for folding lawn chairs to take to beach . We will definitely be back and had a blast!!! Thank you so much

Beautiful home and excellent location!

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect home in Sayulita in an excellent location! Just a few minutes walk to both the beach or the plaza, yet quiet and relaxing. The home is beautiful - exactly as represented in the photos. The spacious yard is lush and makes you feel that you are quite a bit farther from the hustle and bustle of downtown Sayulita, yet you are just a minute or two from all the shops and restaurants. Both the owners and property management were very communicative and flexible. We especially enjoyed use of the outdoor kitchen. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone! Thank you so much for an amazing stay!

Casa Duende was very charming. We loved the way it was decorated and how comfortable it was. It has easy access to town and the beach. The owner and the management group were a pleasure to work with. We would definitely go back. We had a lovely time and of course we love Sayulita! Thanks to all..Monique & Family
