About this property

Creekside Mountain Log Cabin Home

This is a beautiful, Non-Smoking, log cabin home on an acre of land, situated on a rushing creek with several waterfalls right outside the door. The lot is wooded and sits at about 4200 feet elevation. It feels very private, yet is only five minutes from the main road.

There is a large covered porch running the length of the cabin overlooking the creek, with a six-person hot tub on one end. In the yard is a picnic table and steps down to the creek. The furniture is plush and comfortable, and with a woodburning fireplace and satellite television, there isn't a more cozy place.

You'll be only fifteen minutes from the quaint town of Maggie Valley, where there are several wonderful restaurants and lots of craft and gift shops, as well as gorgeous mountain views. Going the opposite direction takes you into Cherokee in about ten minutes, with gambling casinos and tourist attractions, or you can take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. In 20 minutes you can be on Main Street in Waynesville, with restaurants and shopping galore. Asheville is just 45 minutes away, and Gatlinburg, Tennessee only an hour or so.

But if you are like us, you won't want to leave the cabin! Everyone falls in love with the place. There isn't a greater get-away than the Great Smoky Mountains, and this is the perfect spot to enjoy them! (3 night minimum)

4x4 is required during the winter time, if it snows. The cabin is located 4200 feet up the mountain on a hard packed gravel road (always check the weather).

Mountain Getaway
Our experience at this property did not start out well. Guests who use their GPS to get to this property will find that the road from the top of the mountain is very steep and getting into the driveway is very tricky. It took my husband several attempts to maneuver our car in order to safely turn into the driveway. We later found out after speaking with the property manager that getting to the property is easier if you come from the bottom of the mountain. Although, you do have to cross a small creek (no bridge) before reaching the property. I think just disclosing in the property description that the road to the cabin is hard packed gravel, is really not enough to give guests a good idea of what to expect with the drive to the property. Being told upfront which way to to get to the property would have made our initial experience more positive. The only complaint we have about the accommodations is that the 3 inch foam pad on the bed in the main floor bedroom has got to go. The fitted sheet kept coming off and the pad itself made it difficult to move in bed. With all that being said, the cabin itself is nicely decorated. It was very cozy. We loved using the fireplace while enjoying a cup of cocoa or glass of wine. It was lovely to hear the sounds of the creek below while relaxing in the hot tub. We enjoyed using the well equipped kitchen too. We hope the owner will make these few suggested changes so that future guests can have an even better experience.

Mountain Hideaway
Very much enjoyed our stay at Creekside Cabin for our 20th Anniversary vacation. Hot tub was enjoyed to just relax and soak in after a day of hiking or adventuring in the Maggie Valley/Cherokee area. The cabin was fully supplied with all that we could need. And the creek was delightful to watch and listen to. There are a couple of opportunities to make this cabin even better. The mattress on the 1st floor bed could use replacing. Kitchen trashcan could use a lid. And living room ceiling fan would be great if speed could be adjusted. But none of these things hampered our enjoyment of our stay. Would definitely recommend Creekside Cabin to others and would stay again.
