Why Shari chose North Georgia Mountains

The incredible views from the chalet drew me to the property. The added benefit is that it is in Hiawassee! I am from Atlanta originally and have been all over the North Georgia area and this is the prettiest area with so much to offer. Hiawassee is a quaint up and coming town. Lake Chatuge and layers of mountains surrounds the town with some of the prettiest views I've ever seen. I love the variety of restaurants and shopping. Some of the restaurants are on or overlooking the lake. It's a fun place to be. In the summer you have all the water activities literally 5 min down the road (boating, boat & jet ski rentals, swimming, etc) and close to hiking and several waterfalls. It's just the perfect place in Georgia to get-a-way!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We visited the Chalet in Hiawassee from Sept 21-28 as an escape from the Florida heat. We were not disappointed. We packed a cooler filled with food so we could relax and cook many meals in.

The views from the porch rockers were nothing short of spectacular and changed daily, if not hourly. We enjoyed sipping coffee wearing long sleeves and enjoying the cool morning air.

A hike to the top of Brasstown Bald rewarded us with a 360 degree view of 3 states.

We very much enjoyed our meals at both Michaelee’s and The Chophouse.

Next time we will certainly take trips to the many waterfalls in the area.

We also want to take day trips to Murphy, NC, Blairsville, GA, and lots of other towns.

Overall, the chalet was a very enjoyable & comfortable place to relax and enjoy the first few days of fall. We will definitely be back

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a quaint getaway spot up in the North Georgia mountains and this place was it! We were fortunate that Shari allowed us to check in a few hours early since they hadn't had a guest in the chalet the night before so they were able to give us access a bit earlier. The chalet is really cute and cozy and we especially enjoyed the porch and beautiful lake views that it offers. When we got home after spending four nights in the chalet, I realized that I had left several items in one of the dresser drawers. So I contacted Shari to ask what could be done, and she told me she would get the things shipped back to me, which she did. I was very grateful for her swift handling of this. We would definitely stay here again!

This chalot was absolutely perfect for my girlfriend and my Valentine's weekend getaway. Everything was clean, there were an abundance of cooking utensils, all electronics worked great, the fireplace was super romantic, and the view from the porch/livingroom cannot be explained with words.

Here's a helpful hint, use the directions that the owners send you, not your GPS.

Also, be sure to check out the many waterfalls in the area. There are TONS of them within an hour drive.

Wonderful experience!

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful trip. The owners made thus one of the easiest experiences with rentals of this tyle that we have ever had. They were very friendly and helpful. The views were even more beautiful than in the pictures. Even the neighbors are helpful and friendly. We are talking about planning another trip here in the future. It was amazing, and the perfect spot for a relaxing vacation.

Awesome vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. The views of lake and surrounding mountains were beautiful.

The pictures on website match what you see in cabin. The cabin is very clean and decorated

nicely. The atmosphere was relaxing and peaceful, yet there is plenty to do nearby. We went boating

on Lake Chatgue, white water rafting in NC, panned for gold up in Dahlongea and went up to highest mountain in Georgia. The restaurants nearby are great, we ate at Michaelee's chocolate caffe, Chop House and Brothers at Willow Ranch. I would recommend this cabin for those looking for a great vacation, whether you just want to relax all day at the cabin or stay as busy as you want with nearby

activities! We would love to come back, it was hard to leave!

Wonderful View!

  • 4 of 5

There is no doubt this chalet has a fantastic view of Lake Chatuge! The neighborhood is extremely quiet, even though there is a house very close...just below the view of the lake. There were a couple of things that hampered our visit. As soon as we entered the chalet, it smelled as if someone had had a dog in a previous visit. Also, the last morning that we were there, the wooden commode lid broke. My husband is 6'4" and 210 lbs. I don't think that combination would've done the damage, but who knows. The downstairs deck was dirty, the grass was very high, and the landscaping was grown up. Inside the chalet was good! The bed in the blue room was EXTREMELY comfortable! The chalet is furnished with all of the stuff you need as if you were home. It was obvious that the owners thought of a lot of little things to make the stay convenient. The swing on the upper deck was awesome in the mornings for sipping coffee. It was nice to get away for the long weekend!

Owner's Response: We were surprised & disappointed to see that the renters had a few issues while at our chalet, however, the 4 out of 5 stars tells us that they were very satisfied overall with their stay. The renters did indeed break (crack), in half, a solid wood toilet seat & the hardware on one side was pulled out of the commode. We are not sure why the renters would point out something negative that they actually did. The landscape is a county landscape with wildflowers & clover. It was a little high while they were there & we figure that the renters may not be used to staying in mountain environments. We cleaned before the renters came in & we didn't smell anything at all. We are pretty fastidious when it comes to making sure that everything is disinfected & thoroughly clean & presentable. We do appreciate constructive criticism and we wish that everyone could have the best possible experience in our much be-loved chalet. We will let our potential guests read through all of the reviews to get an accurate idea of what our chalet offers.

Peace and Relaxation!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a place to relax with a good view,,,,,this definitely has the million dollar view. Owner's description of property and location were spot on. Chalet looks exactly like the pictures. Each morning there was a new expectation of what the view would be that morning. Owner's were very helpful with all our questions and hopefully, the several minor problems will be addressed. The restaurants recommended by owners were exceptionally good. We were able to take all our little side trips daily to see the amazing scenery. An old high school friend has moved to Hiawassee from Florida and we reconnected after 18 years. Good times were had getting reacquainted. The hike to Anna Ruby Falls was spectacular. We would definitely recommend this to family and friends.
