Overview

Photos and Description of this Narvon holiday apartment

2 small cozy bedrooms, 1 full bath, open kitchen and living area, brick patio

This apartment is off of the beaten path and is located on a quiet wooded hillside overlooking Amish farms. The apartment doors open onto Fern Wood Gardens, a terraced display of flowers featured in regional garden tours. This is a peaceful quiet place where vacationers may want to enjoy extended stays. We have wireless internet connection, a full kitchen, a barbecue grill, and a washer and dryer to help make your stay comfortable.

Our place is a quiet relaxing retreat for married couples or small families. We are eight miles from the famous Shady Maple Smorgasbord. On a drive through the country side you will pass old order Amish and Mennonite farms. There are numerous covered bridges, old mills, and plain church meeting houses. There are a number of historic sights in our area and an Amish Mennonite Information center just one mile from our apartment.

The garden is a restful spot where you will want to sit and enjoy a book while hearing the call of the birds, the water splashing in the pond and the croaking of the pond frogs, or the clip-clop of the Amish horses on the road below. You may want to eat your meals in the garden house, make hot dogs, etc. in the garden fire pit or just sit in the garden house during a rain shower and enjoy the fresh smell of the garden.

This was my second visit. I feel like this is a second home. The place is cozy and very tranquil. I always enjoy my conversations with Dawn. I will continue to visit Fern Wood.

Beautiful Garden and wooded area, comfortable living space and great hosts.

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I went to Fernwood for a relaxing 2 days, to do some writing and reflecting. This was the perfect place for this. There're activities available, but we chose to spend most of our time enjoying the grounds.

We enjoyed the various butterflies, spiders and bees in the garden. There are a few suprises (good ones) on the property so I won't spoil them. The garden is even more beautiful than the pics. You can see the love that went into it. Dawn took the time to greet us and gave us a tour of the garden.

The living space is clean and very comfortable. It's easy to feel at home. There were so many little touches that made us feel welcomed- fresh flowers in the living room and bathroom, fruit basket and candy for my daughter and a butterfly book that brought us lots of joy.

There are lots of pillows and blankets, a full sized refrigerator/freezer, big picture window with a garden view and porch seating where we sat with our morning coffee and our evening tea.

I echo all the positive sentiments about Dawn and Herb. Theres nothing I can add. We wanted solitude, quiet and relaxation. They seemed to magically understand that and we had just the right amount of interaction- enough to feel welcomed and loved and the right amount of space. I suspect they're very good at gauging their guests.

The area is beautiful farmland, lots of places to get fresh fruit and vegetables and a nearby supermarket and small shopping area.

We will definitely return. If you're trying to choose between two properties, choose this one, you won't regret it!

FernWood Gardens - Beautiful 🌸🌲🌺🌺🌺🌲🌸

  • 5 of 5

FernWood Gardens nestled in the countryside of Lancaster County was absolutely the most wonderful place to stay during our vacation trip to the east coast. Our host, Dawn, greeted us with a warm welcome. The cozy retreat offered a beautiful garden and view of the Appalachian Countryside.

The beds were terrific and the cottage was clean and decorated adoringly. We enjoyed the fresh fruit, little library and the local guide books. When we travel east again, we will definitely make a reservation at FernWood Gardens. The proximity to Valley Forge and Philadelphia was perfect.

We recommend this vacation rental to others because of the host's sincere hospitality, beautiful-well kept facilities, and proximity to some of our Nation's historical sites.

Thank you.

Kindly,

The Carlson Family

What a great place to stay! It was so relaxing and beautiful. My daughter and I were here for 4 days and enjoyed every minute. There is a swing and a gazebo in the garden for us to enjoy! Beautiful scenery from our front window of the room! You won;t be disappointed if you stay here! Dawn had fresh flowers in every room and even on our private front terrace! We had comfortable rocking chairs to sit and enjoy the peaceful scene.

I will definitely stay here again!
