Garnered most votes for BEST DESIGNED HOME IN N. CALIFORNIA, from the American Institute of Building Design, FOR 2009.

This ROMANTIC Award Winning North Lake Tahoe EXECUTIVE RETREAT is for those who desire themselves and their family & friends to be in a palatial and delightfully splendid home both inside and outdoors! Imagine immersing yourself in all of the finest that life has to offer and you'll find yourself in our home. . . .

We are within 2 MINUTES TO A BEAUTIFUL GOLDEN SANDY BEACH that's great for the kids! The shallow water makes it warmer & safer than other areas around the lake.We are WITHIN 20 MINUTES OF virtually EVERYTHING!!! All snow sports - motorized and human powered, restaurants and gaming, and the Truckee-Tahoe Airport (45 minutes from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport). NORTHSTAR - THE BEST FAMILY SKI RESORT IN TAHOE - IS LESS THAN 9 MILES AWAY! The REGIONAL PARK is just a few minute's walk away, on a trial through the woods. It's great for kids & adults! Tennis (lighted), Handball, Soccer, Baseball, Mtn. Biking, hiking, par course, disk golf & BBQ's. In the winter, there is cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling & sledding.

SPACIOUSLY BEAUTIFUL! Our *2,850+/- sq. ft. lake-view, 3 bedroom/3 bath and loft home is available FOR THOSE WHO DESIRE ONLY THE BEST FOR THEIR FAMILY AND FRIENDS!
(SPECIAL NOTE: THE GARAGE, OFFICE (Bedroom #4), AND SEPARATE STUDIO QUARTERS ARE NOT PART OF THE RENTAL, AND ARE NOT REFLECTED IN THE SQ.FT. CALCULATIONS OF THE HOME, AS LISTED ABOVE. The studio quarters are usually occupied by the owner when guests are in the home, as Placer County mandates that a designated responsible party is able to respond to any issues within an hour of notification.)
An overview of the home provides 2 master suites (One master has a king bed with a jacuzzi tub having filtered lake views, One master has a queen bed); the 3rd. bedroom has a full size bed, with a claw-foot tub in the bathroom. Each bedroom has its own attached bath. The loft has a reading nook/sleeping area which is very comfortable, extra long & wide. There is another special bed in the loft, as well, which sleeps someone 5'-7' and smaller.

There are 2 touch start beautifully romantic deer-creek green slate fireplaces with full hearths and rock surrounds.
Throughout the home there exists various hand-crafted furniture & a log bed, all designed and built by the owner.

The home's GOURMET KITCHEN is a cook's delight, replete with 6 burner stove-top, spice drawer (with all the spices), oven bank with warming drawer, dedicated wine storage, spalted maple cabinets, granite countertops, stainless-steel appliances, pullout pantry and recycle drawers. Our home is WELL STOCKED WITH spices, sweeteners, teas, baking goods & pans, flour, cooking oil, Ziploc bags, etc - VIRTUALLY ALL THE INCIDENTALS!

We know your vacation is precious, so we courteously supply the small things - SAVING YOU TIME - so you can enjoy being with your family and friends, instead of running around doing errands!

Log accents abound throughout the home; most logs are harvested directly from the site, complimenting the vertical grain Doug-Fir and Peach travertine floors.
Wi-Fi, High-Def TV w/DVD, (no cable or satellite).

We offer our home to those who can and will appreciate it, while caring for it in the spirit of how we designed and built it. This is a SHOE-FREE, SMOKE-FREE, DRUG-FREE & PET-FREE HOME. (NO EXCEPTIONS) means just that. Don't ask. I have allergies.

I have used VRBO many times and this was the first time I was met by the owner. I prefer a lockbox on the door and a key code to gain access.

About the host

Host profile image
I am a 2nd. Generation Master Builder, Architect, and a very happy father to Kylie.
I began my career very early under the mentor-ship of my father, Robert Hopp. I started working with my father at an early age, always knowing I would grow up to design and build the best and most beautiful homes, remodels and additions possible.
Bob, as most people called him, had a very strong work ethic. He took a great deal of pride in the work he did for others, always putting forth his best efforts and treating people fairly. Whether it was building a bench or turning out a 100,000+ sq. ft. industrial complex, his “do it right & get it done” attitude built him a reputation that preceded his arrival on the job site that wasn’t measured in minutes, but by miles.
Clients who hired him knew in advance that when he made them a promise, he fulfilled that promise. And what I remember, most of all is that he loved it. Every minute of it! He loved the challenge of “getting it done - on time, and done right.” He was gregarious and hard working, almost to a fault. He loved to entertain. Current events, political commentary, and conversation were probably second only to his love of the written word. And his love for the written word was eclipsed only by the love we saw demonstrated towards Lois, his wife and my mother. He did so much for his family, and friends. Because his parents left this world when he was still very young, he understood, first-hand, how important family is, what it means to have one, and be part of it. As it is said, “The fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree,” and I gleaned many wonderful attributes from working with dad.
These are the cornerstones, from which I fashion my life, the business, and fatherhood.
Outdoor mountain sports, woodworking, and poetry are my avocations.

Why they chose this property

This is our home, in North Lake Tahoe, and after 30 years of living in Tahoe, it was the ambiance of this community that captured our hearts, and its proximity to ALL the activities in which we like to participate.

What makes this property unique

A unique connection to ALL of life through the unparallel home's finishes, artwork, hand-crafted furniture, and poetry created by the owner, and what lies beyond the doors of this home and its superb location.
