Pass through the iron doors, mount the marble staircase, and enter a world unto its own, into centuries past. This edifice was built in 1899 by a celebrated French architect for the Alvear family and declared a Historic Monument because of its unique design, age and history. Built around three sumptuous gardens, each window faces the enclosed courtyard, a true French Pied-a-Terre.
100 meters built on 3 separate levels with 15 foot ceilings in the Living Room and Bedroom. The loft entrepiso has a separate sitting room and sleeping area for two with a second bathroom. Walk down 3 steps and enter a built-in kitchen with a washer/dryer and a Formal Dining Room/Den with antique Chinese daybed.
Live in this hidden, secret space: a respite from the present and the madness of the vibrant city surrounding us. Wake to sunshine in the gardens and the sound of birds.
Newly renovated and elegantly appointed with exotic woods, Chinese furnishings and Indian silks, a perfect blend of history and todays' most modern convenience.
Located on the border of Recoleta and Barrio Norte, just 5 blocks from the famous Recoleta Cemetery. Within walking distance to the most elegant shopping and restaurants. There are 5 outdoor fruit/vegetable markets and 3 large supermarkets within a two block radius.
Tango lessons can be arranged. Two doormen will assist as concierge for every need and the owner lives in the building. Transportation from Ezeiza will be arranged. I am absolutely sure you will be extremely happy living here.
It will comfortably accommodate 4 persons, however it is not suitable for children or animals.
Built over 120 years ago, it is the oldest French building in this part of Recoleta. It is rumored that this architect designed a sister building in Paris. It is constructed courtyard style around three gardened patios so all the windows open to the gardens. We are buffered from all the street noise just outside the front entrance, so we live in silence and awaken with the birds.
Silence, privacy, safety and service. There are two doormen who Live in the building, as do I.
Stayed here for two weeks and loved every minute. The apartment is quite marvelous, beautifully maintained, absolute top quality furnishings, linens, towels and everything you might need in the kitchen. The added treat are the gardens on the grounds. You can enjoy trees, flowers, and birds chirping, and no traffic noise, something not heard of in Buenos aires. The location is excellent, near shops, cafes, food stores, good restaurants and a short distance to centro, San Telmo , museums etc. The owner is absolutely an angel. She is also a gifted artist and has created many of the exquisite pieces one can enjoy in the apartment. She was helpful with everything including making recommendations for restaurants to referring a dentist when I needed one. . Would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone who enjoys beautiful surroundings and a peaceful setting. The owner and the apartment are absolute gems
Being my first trip to Buenos Aires, looking at a map, I figured this was well-located for general sight-seeing purposes, and it was. Taxis are readily available, there are restaurants, food shops close by. I did not take the subway or bus, so cannot speak to that. I loved the artistic feel of entering the beautifully landscaped courtyards that lead to the apartment. Also, the apartment is located on the ground floor. Note, however, there are some steps in the apartment, such as to the main-floor bathroom and kitchen. The stairs up to the loft bedroom are narrow and steep. The building was quiet and dark at night -- perfect for sleeping. Anne Elizabeth really goes out of her way to provide everything you might need. She lives in the building and is available, not intrusive. The welcome lunch was special. I think previous reviewers are accurate and covered pretty much everything I would say.
My brother and I have just returned from BA and wanted to immediately confirm
that all the wonderful reviews praising this apartment and it's owner are absolutely
accurate. We have stayed at two other BA apartments in the past. We felt they
we're quite nice at the time but they pale in comparison. Beautiful apartment
reached by entering a lush, well manicured courtyard. Easy walking distance to
the best Recoleta has to offer.
Anne Elizabeth, the owner provides service beyond anything we have experienced
in 45 years of travel. Kindness and generousity one has to experience to believe.
A lovely lunch waiting upon arrival. Bottles of wine, water and snacks left for our
use. Movies, transit cards, excellent restaurant and entertainment advice. By all
means follow her restaurant advice.
What could be better? How about no prepayments or security deposit? How
about a rate lower than similar sized & located apartments? Don't waste anymore
time researching accomidations. Book Anne Elizabeth's apartment now and prepare
to be amazed.
nearby and was always available by email.
We spent an entire month in Buenos Aires and loved it. The apartment we rented was extremely well located and we were able to navigate through the city fairly easily either by subway, bus, Uber or walking. The apartment is located in a quiet courtyard far away from all the street Boise ensuring a good night's sleep. We were within walking distance of many excellent restaurants and several supermarkets. ANNE E made our stay very comfortable by providing lots of information, ensuring our apartment was cleaned on a weekly basis and welcoming us with wine, empanadas and croissants. Having lived in BA for 10 years, she is a wealth of information and often was a personal tour guide always steering us in the right direction. The apartment comes highly recommended. We felt safe, comfortable and we'll taken care of.
A month in this home was so far beyond my expectations. The owner is thoughtful yet private and the aesthetic within pleased my greatly. It is a true neighborhood peopled with helpful amenities....I am returning next year.Need I say more?
If I could give this apartment more than 5 stars, I would. This wonderful apartment has everything one could hope for, with the added bonus of having Anne Elizabeth, the owner, as one of the most gracious and hospitable hosts ever. First, some notes about the apartment.
Too often you book online on the basis of reviews and photos, only to be disappointed upon arrival. Not in this case. If anything, the apartment exceeded my high expectations. It's exactly as represented in photos -- art-filled, beautifully decorated, well appointed, quiet, and in a terrific and safe location. The neighborhood is filled with wonderful restaurants, shops, and greengrocers. And it's within easy walking distance of numerous attractions in Recoleta and Palermo, including multiple museums and Recoleta's famed cemetery.
What makes the apartment even more special, however, is Anne Elizabeth herself. As others have mentioned, she refused to accept a deposit to hold the apartment (telling me that if it made me feel better, I could of course give her something in advance). Who does something like that in this day and age?! She contacted me before my arrival to ask about my needs, and stocked the refrigerator accordingly with fruit, yogurt, empanadas and the most divine squash ravioli, along with bottles of Malbec and water.
I was a first-time visitor to Argentina and a solo female traveler. Throughout my six-day stay, Anne Elizabeth regularly checked in to see if there was anything I needed. She recommended places to shop and eat based on my personal interests, shared with me copies of some of her favorite books, printed out online ticket purchases and boarding passes, and even filled a flash drive with movies she thought I would enjoy watching. She truly went above and beyond. And, Anne Elizabeth lives in the building, so she is readily available if a last-minute need comes up.
I've been singing the praises of Anne Elizabeth and her beautiful apartment to everyone I know, and look forward to returning in the future.
Anne was very welcoming and we enjoyed staying in her clean, well-kept, quiet apartment. The location was great; it was centrally located and allowed us to go around the city predominantly using the subway system. There are excellent restaurants around and nearby grocery/bakery/produce stores, just around the corner. We'll be back!
