Catrin and Jonathan Zambella have lived in Springdale, UT, at the footsteps of Zion National Park for over a decade. With their son Massimo, they host your visits to Zion and the grandeur of Southern Utah. Catrin, originally from Switzerland, inspired the Zen-like feel of Nama-Stay and spends her time home schooling Massimo, studying natural healing practices, and exploring the summits of Zion National Park. After 15 years running Zion's premiere outfitter and guide service, Jonathan now offers custom, exclusive canyoneering and climbing trips around the globe, maintaining his expertise on the immense activities Zion offers. Massimo helps us maintain our child-like spirit of investigation and recreation, and charms visitors into playful respites. We live humbly in our small cabin on the Nama-Stay property and look forward to serving you the best Zion has to offer.
Catrin and Jonathan Zambella purchased this house in 2002
In the late 80's Mark Austin and the former owners design and built the house that is now Nama-Stay on a remote lot surrounded by forest and horse pastures. Though Springdale has grown a great deal since that time, Nama-Stay maintains its quaint nature of a ranch house and privacy of an off street home. Nama-Stay was built aligned north-south, with great summer shade and winter sun, with gasping views and privacy all the same.
Hardwood ash, cherry, and bamboo floors throughout. Open layout with vaulted ceilings, eight-foot picture windows, and room for Yoga, Qigong, meditation, executive meetings, and specialty groups. Amazing acoustics throughout. Extensive front and backyard patio spaces. Private, quiet, yet conveniently located minutes from shopping, restaurants, and Park activities.
Nama-Stay is a special oasis in the desert. It will take you beyond the normal retreat atmosphere and catapult you into the pristine nature of Nature. In other words, it is difficult to language the magic Nama-Stay embodies, because each moment is an experience of heighten awareness.
Senses awaken to the gifts offered by the proprietors. Each bedroom is filled with the essence of pure nature and divine blessings. Each room is lightly touched with pure intention for each guest to receive loving nurturance while resting, playing, cooking, and contemplating. And the property and patio lends itself to morning meditations, teaching, sharings and dining while the sun sets gracing the canyon walls.
Nama-Stay is a slice of heaven in the book of ‘Places to Retreat’. You will see what I mean when you visit yourself. It will take your breath away, as it does mine, each time I visit, and I have visited several times now. Nama-Stay is the way to retreat.
My husband and our two friends were really looking forward to visiting Zion for all of its natural beauty and majestic cliffs. As we approached Nama -Stay we thought, oh no, right in the middle of all of the crowds. What a surprise awaited us!! While this house is close to everything it is a lovely, open serene home with a huge view of the cliffs of Zion and the Virgin river.
Our hosts, Catrin and Jonathan, we gracious, helpful and friendly. One of our friends was looking to rent a wheelchair since her disability made it difficult to take long walks. With this information, Catrin located one that her neighbor was not using and it made the trip all the better!
The home is very well stocked with everything you will need to prepare meals, if you wish. We found that once we were in for the evening we didn't want to leave. We just watched the sun set on the cliffs, and the moon and stars rise.
We will be returning to Zion and Nama-Stay again!
Great hosts, very helpful information on what to see and do. House has great windows and high arched ceilings making it extremely spacious. Patio views of cliffs at sunset awesome. Only steps away from Sol Foods where you can get any groceries from minor items to a robust steak dinner. Also only steps away from Springdale bus line which delivers you to the doorstep of Zion. Easy relaxing stay, never had to get in the car for anything.
Nama-Stay was the perfect place for our family of 5. The home is so peaceful and very well maintained. It has a connected feel to nature and beautiful professional photos of the Zion area throughout the house. We particularily enjoyed the outdoor backyard patio and the gorgeous views throughout the main living areas and master bedroom. Catrin and Jonathan are gracious hosts who truely want your stay to be wonderful. We can't wait to come back!
I love Zion. And for me, staying at nama stay is part of the Zion experience. It's not just the amazing home and the peaceful vibes it presents, but also the wonderful owners who act almost as your concierge to all things Zion. Love this place and can't wait to come back soon.
Perfect location to visit Zion! Short walk to shuttle, walk to restaurants. Zion guru best source for info and rent equipment. Beautiful grounds fantastic view!
My family of 5 stayed at Nama-Stay for 3 nights in June during our trip to Zion. We all LOVED it! The location is perfect, just outside the park with gorgeous views of the mountains in the backyard. Walking distance to the food store and restaurants. The home itself is spacious and very comfortable. The owners were responsive and extremely helpful with suggestions for hikes, etc. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our time at Nama-Stay and Zion - it is a beautiful part of the country and we are grateful to the owners for sharing their house! We would love to stay there again if our travels bring us back to Utah.
