About Catrin and Jonathan Zambella

Catrin and Jonathan Zambella have lived in Springdale, UT, at the footsteps of Zion National Park for over a decade. With their son Massimo, they host your visits to Zion and the grandeur of Southern Utah. Catrin, originally from Switzerland, inspired the Zen-like feel of Nama-Stay and spends her time home schooling Massimo, studying natural healing practices, and exploring the summits of Zion National Park. After 15 years running Zion's premiere outfitter and guide service, Jonathan now offers custom, exclusive canyoneering and climbing trips around the globe, maintaining his expertise on the immense activities Zion offers. Massimo helps us maintain our child-like spirit of investigation and recreation, and charms visitors into playful respites. We live humbly in our small cabin on the Nama-Stay property and look forward to serving you the best Zion has to offer.

Catrin and Jonathan Zambella purchased this house in 2002

Why Catrin and Jonathan Zambella chose Utah

In the late 80's Mark Austin and the former owners design and built the house that is now Nama-Stay on a remote lot surrounded by forest and horse pastures. Though Springdale has grown a great deal since that time, Nama-Stay maintains its quaint nature of a ranch house and privacy of an off street home. Nama-Stay was built aligned north-south, with great summer shade and winter sun, with gasping views and privacy all the same.

What makes this house unique

Hardwood ash, cherry, and bamboo floors throughout. Open layout with vaulted ceilings, eight-foot picture windows, and room for Yoga, Qigong, meditation, executive meetings, and specialty groups. Amazing acoustics throughout. Extensive front and backyard patio spaces. Private, quiet, yet conveniently located minutes from shopping, restaurants, and Park activities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Nama-Stay is a special oasis in the desert. It will take you beyond the normal retreat atmosphere and catapult you into the pristine nature of Nature. In other words, it is difficult to language the magic Nama-Stay embodies, because each moment is an experience of heighten awareness.

Senses awaken to the gifts offered by the proprietors. Each bedroom is filled with the essence of pure nature and divine blessings. Each room is lightly touched with pure intention for each guest to receive loving nurturance while resting, playing, cooking, and contemplating. And the property and patio lends itself to morning meditations, teaching, sharings and dining while the sun sets gracing the canyon walls.

Nama-Stay is a slice of heaven in the book of ‘Places to Retreat’. You will see what I mean when you visit yourself. It will take your breath away, as it does mine, each time I visit, and I have visited several times now. Nama-Stay is the way to retreat.

Beautiful and relaxing home

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for our family of 6 adults and 2 kids. We had a great time hiking all over Zion and then coming home to such a relaxing place. The patio had tons of seating, the dining table was plenty large, and the great room was massive. Waking up to the sun on the cliffs was spectacular, as was enjoying a glass of wine while watching the sunset. Catrin and Jonathan were awesome hosts and we really enjoyed getting to know them a bit.

Gorgeous setting, great location, wonderful home!

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful, comfortable home is perfectly situated, with canyon views from the back patio, 2 minute drive to the park entrance, and walking distance to the grocery store (Sol Foods) and restaurants (Flying Monkey Pizza is a few steps away). We cooked dinner out on the gas grill and stared at the seemingly infinite number of stars as night fell. Catrin met us at the house to show us around and gave us great recommendations for food and activities. She is all positive energy and smiles. I will definitely return to Nama-Stay where I truly felt at home.

Beautiful and peaceful setting with fantastic views...and wonderful hosts!

  • 5 of 5

You know your visit at Nama-stay is going to be fantastic right from the start because Catrin and Jonathon genuinely want you to love your visit to Nama-stay. My response to reserve Nama-stay was answered immediately and the process to secure the house was hassle-free. Upon arrival, you will be stunned at the amazing views and overall peaceful setting of the house. It's truly amazing! Catrin and Jonathon went to great lengths to ensure its openness without compromising their guests comfort. The open, zen-like feeling allows you to truly appreciate the beautiful views and you will quickly sink into a wonderful feeling of "ahhhhh" - it's that great! The house itself was extremely clean, comfortable and well-equipped. We also used their shop (Zen Guru) to rent gear to walk the Narrows in the middle of winter. The staff was exceptional, our gear worked flawlessly, and we were left a hike that we will never forget. I have stayed in many VRBOs and Nama-stay ranks as one of my favorites!

Wonderfully Comfortable Retreat Home

  • 5 of 5

We love the home which comes with great space for spending time together with friends and family both indoors and outdoors. The views from the back patio were perfect for relaxing after a glorious day of hiking. Catrin had excellent suggestions for exploring Zion and the wonderful restaurant "Kings Landing" was hit for our entire party with excellent food and service. The home is a great place to escape with a peaceful, beautiful and serene environment.

Lovely home, lovely view, lovely host

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six spent five days enjoying this home while exploring Zion. You can enjoy the view from the dining room table, the living room, the master bedroom and a lovely back yard with lots of comfortable seating. There were deer in the evening and early morning. The sunrise over the rocks and color changes at sunset are spectacular.

The home is very clean and comfortable and the kitchen appliances are easy to use. There's plenty of dishes, utensils, and pans. Sol foods market, restaurants and the free Springdale shuttle are within 5 minutes on foot.

Meeting Catrin was a pleasure. She was flexible and gracious about our arrival time and gave us a tour. Everything you need to know about the house is in a manual or notes. It was perfect!
