|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
The Villa at Eastie overlooks the harbor and shipping channels, early morning lobstermen can be seen from the sunroom hauling their traps, as well as the ships coming to port. Plane bugs (id book) will love the spectacular view of Logan Int. Airport. At the end of the street is Constitution Beach. There are bicycles and kayaks for the adventurous or relax in the fountain garden. Smell the sea breeze and reminisce about the politics that must have been discussed in this former Senators home. Entertain in the formal dining room under the crystal chandelier or relax and read a book on one of the balconies overlooking the harbor. The Blue line(public trans) is only a few blocks away and offers a ride to the airport station and free shuttle bus to your terminal, a few more stops and you are downtown for world class shopping, restaurants, museums and the Swan boats ride. Arrange for a daylong antique 'pickers' tour and our driver will take you to the hidden spots where only the dealers buy.
We are close to all that Boston has to offer, either by car or public transportation.
The sheer size and location on Boston Harbor was one of the most attractive features that lured us to purchase the Villa. It's ease to public transportation connecting all the city has to offer without the need of a car, was a real game changer. The view from the sun porch and in the summer months having a glass of wine on the upper balcony is delightful while watching the planes come and go. It is similar to an orchestrated symphony.
Madeline and Nelson:
It certainly has been a whirlwind since we returned from Boston and I
apologize for the delay in getting this out to you.
Thank you very much for opening your home to all of us. We had a most
enjoyable time. Your home is comfortable and so lovely and charming. We
enjoyed every aspect of your house and we met some of your neighbours who
are equally as nice and as friendly.
Going back to Boston and the Cape was reliving my childhood and one that
was both refreshing and sad at the same time. Progress has certainly taken
over and a lot has changed.....thank goodness the character of the City and
the people have remained the same.....just as friendly and charming as ever.
I never thought the road to the Cape would ever be complete. When I was
growing up it was the worst road in the world. What a wonderful change
seeing the road complete. The ride we had was wonderful, no traffic and
smooth sailing all the way. The T has improved as well and we used it a
lot. Downtown Crossing has a new grocery store called Roche
Bros.....fantastic place. We shopped there quite a bit. Their produce was
amazing as was their Butcher Shop......the desserts, we could eat them but
preferred the North End for that....the walk justified all the Italian
We cooked in two nights and had so much fun with that. I have always
wanted a gas cook top and finally had the chance to use one. We set the
smoke alarm off and you should have seen us. We didn't know if you were
hard wired to the Fire Hall......thank goodness you were not. We laughed
so hard we cried. Six grown adults fanning the smoke (very minimal, I was
doing a chicken stir fry and accidentally put in olive oil vs
peanut...olive oil does not like high heat) when we all decided to open the
windows......we are still laughing about that today. The Fire Department
did not come, the house is still standing, we had a good laugh and we had a
great dinner that night...all is well with the world.
Your paintings are spectacular, the decor was perfect, your neighbourhood
was so friendly and welcoming. The planes captivated us every night and
during breakfast every morning.....we miss them but did get educated in the
flight path of Logan International.
We managed to walk the entire Freedom Trail, tour Cambridge, go into Mass
General and the museum to visit my cousins, take in a game at Fenway and
tour all the Cape along with Plymouth. We walked about 10 miles a day
Thank you so much to the Emmons', you were incredible for working with us! This home is better than ANYTHING I have stayed in to date and I can't say enough. Comfortable beds, easy drive, down the road from an awesome bakery and seafood. The view was to die for and the neighborhood felt safe and cozy! My 3 favorite rooms: the master bedroom, the kitchen and the sun room! It was close to the train but Uber is a cheap and quicker way to commute too. What you see isn't what you get, it's better! I am already talking my hubby into returning with the family (I was there for a conference). But if you want to stay in Boston without the bustle of Boston, this is your place! Did I mention the view, lol). Thank you both a million times over, your home is superb!
There were six of us - 4 sisters and 2 friends - The house is beautiful. The bedding very comfortable. The only downfall I saw was 1 bedroom does not have a TV - maybe that can be rectified!! Kitchen stocked - loved the sun room - we spent mornings and nights out there. Loved the location - nice neighborhood - a 5 minute walk to the T and so easy to get around. Nelson and Madeline were at the house to greet us and walk us through. Any problems/questions we had they were right there with answers. Very helpful. Thank you again for allowing us to enjoy your home and make our "sister" week such a great success.
When we were planning our trip, Nelson was extremely prompt at responding to my queries and made the whole booking process very easy.
After a busy, full on week in New York we travelled up to Boston by Amtrak and met Nelson and Madeline who gave us a tour of their lovely house. Our first impressions were of a grand, beautiful home that has been gracefully brought into the 21st century - air con throughout and Wi-Fi internet (an essential for two teenagers). The house has some great history and the rooms are large with exceptional, period décor - really giving the sense of being in the shoes of the senator that built it. Everything that we needed during our stay was catered for - enabling us to prepare meals and eat them in the splendour of the dining room.
The house is located in a safe quiet area overlooking the seafront, with views of the airport - watching the planes come and go was fascinating! We breakfasted on the veranda most mornings - soaking up the early morning sunshine whilst consuming Dunkin Donuts and hot chocolate (how we miss that now we are back in the UK). In the evening you can watch downtown Boston and the airport light up as it gets dark.
Boston was easily accessed using the subway - the station was a 5 minute walk and the subway ride another 10 minutes into the city centre. We walked the Freedom Trail, visited Harvard and MIT - having a car was useful, enabling us to venture further afield to go shopping at Wrentham Premium Outlets (great prices despite exchange rate) and whale watching from Gloucester (Seven Seas Whale Watching is highly recommended).
We would highly recommend Nelson and Madeline's home and thank them for their kind hospitality.
We stayed at Nelson's beautiful old Senator's Mansion after a week in a crowded apartment in New York with four other friends. The joy of have such large bedrooms and living space was wonderful. Although we only stayed for three nights it was amazing, we sat on the balcony every afternoon after a busy day sight seeing with a glass of wine and cheese platter watching the planes come and go from Logan airport across the bay, and the occasional cruise ship come in. It was so pleasant with the little harbour across the road. The art work and antiques are an extra bonus. Nelson and Madeleine were there to greet us when we arrived even though we were running very late. They showed us around the glorious house answering any questions we had on Boston and things to do. We would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Boston.
Many thanks Karen and Keith
We were on a trip from the UK and stayed here with another family, 8 of us in total. There was plenty of space for all of us to relax and we really enjoyed relaxing on the veranda in the evening, with the wonderful views of the bay, Boston skyline and Logan Airport. The house was equipped with all the facilities we could ask for and plenty of local area information and history was also available.
The house is located a short walk from Orient Heights MBTA stop which allowed quick access to all Boston has to offer.
I'd also like to thank Nelson for his polite and helpful communication during the booking process and for the tips given on our arrival.
Should we ever come back to Boston we would love to stay here again. Highly recommended!
Four ladies from GA used the Villa as our headquarters for a week in Boston. The home is lovely, and as pictured. The original art throughout was stunning! We used the T to easily go into the city, but decided to rent a car to use for day trips (warning: the rental process at Logan was a nightmare the day we arrived. Consider renting off site?). Nelson was patient and kind in responding to questions and requests, as well as in dealing with our late arrival. The property would rate 5 stars if laundry facilities were in the house and Internet more reliable. Highly recommended!
Boston is the seat of the history of the United States and offers cultural sites and events throughout the year. The Theater District is about 10 minutes by public transportation as well as museums and art galleries. Famous Newbury St, Downtown Crossing and Historic Fanuel Hall are minutes away. With world class hospitals such as Mass General, Brigham and Womens and The Deconess, you know your stay is covered. With events such as the Boston Marathon, Trade shows or an art walk at Sowa's first Friday open studios, first run Broadway shows, know your stay here will be fun filled. Within a few blocks there are restaurants, 1st place winner Belle Isle Seafood, ethnic groceries, spas, world renowned Woody's Liquor. Constitution Beach is at the end of the street and Belle Isl. Dog walking park nearby. Hike up Madonna Hill and view the bronze statue of the Madonna and take in the incredible view. If your an airplane enthusiast stay home and watch the planes take off, and land.
