About Kirby Thwing
My grandparents bough the properties in Hawley in the 1920 and I spent summers in Hawley as a youth and my kids grew up spending vacations in Hawley, and now the grandkids come to visit.
Kirby Thwing purchased this House in 1986
Why Kirby Thwing chose Hawley
I bought this house for my parents to live in and planned to retire into it when they no longer needed it. I retired while they were still in it and I bought the house of my aunt and uncle, just up the road. My cousin lives next door to me and just up the road from this rental house. He is a wealth of information about the area and the countryside. He'll be sure to stop by if you are outside.
What makes this House unique
What is unique about this area is its quiet. No stores, no street lights, no stop signs. But, there are plenty of birds, turkeys, moose, bear, deer, rabbits, hawks. You get the idea i think. The stars are very bright at night and the brook can be heard from far-away. Trees, stone walls, ponds abound. Hawley's population is a whopping 320 hearty souls. Just sitting and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature is rejuvenating.

Autumn, mountains and tranquility.
Flight's End is coming home, welcoming and comfy. We loved the pond room and enjoyed the ducks every day. This is a definite plus to relaxing. Would recommend this home to families who love the country. Fall foliage, one of the reasons we come to MA, was awesome. We also have relatives in the area so this home is very convenient for us.
October 2019 Flight's End
Another great stay! Always enjoy staying at Flight's End in Hawley. Beautiful location, clean well stocked house and close to the Deerfield River. Have a great winter Thwing Family! See you in the spring!
Lovely weekend meetup
Our families met here coming from Boston and Vermont. Convenient for both, lovely home, easy access to beautiful woods. Thanks so much!
The family had a lovely stay over labor day weekend - we really enjoyed canoeing the pond and enjoying the outdoors. The weather was fantastic, so we were able to get out and about - the nearby state park had some great hiking. For those of you with little ones, they do have a toddler bed and a pack and play (as well as a play set the one-year-old adored)- although the place isn't childproof. Because there were large spaces between the stair railings, we moved the toddler bed to the pond room to avoid having the three year old take a wrong turn in the middle of the night.
We're always glad to hear when our guests and especially their children have had a good time. When my children were growing up they and their cousins spent many wonderful hours in that house and in the surrounding countryside.
Relaxation in western Mass!
The house was lovely-- the setting was relaxing and it was fun to watch the ducks and geese come and go on the pond across the road. Lovely accommodations.
