Overview

About the property

Chateau / Country House, 4 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 12)

Beautiful mountain lodge on scenic horse farm in rural Montgomery County, MD, 45 minutes from Washington, D.C. Golfer's paradise. Spa facilities.

Get away from the busyness of downtown Washington, and enjoy the peace of this lodge overlooking a rolling pasture of horses grazing by the fish-filled pond. The 3-story house includes 4 bedrooms, 3 and a half baths with jacuzzi's in each one, an elegant dining room, 2 full kitchens, a spa room with massage table and infrared sauna, a scenic greatroom with a 30 foot fireplace. The library on the 3rd floor opens to the Great Room on the 2nd level with a huge expanse of windows showing the magnificent scenery. Choose from hundreds of books, and go down to read in front of the Great Room 30-foot fireplace, or by the Wood stove.

There is also a great media room with a 70-inch flat screen television with comfortable theater seating.. You can have fun preparing food in either of the two kitchens! For exercise, we have exerstrider poles, rebounders (small mini trampolines), and yoga mats with videos to follow along in the media room. Or you may choose to fish in the well-stocked pond, or take horseback riding lessons from our on-site trainers!

FOR GOLFER'S: Raspberry Falls Golf and Hunt Club was a very well maintained club and part of the experience is traveling to the course and crossing on White's Ferry, it is like going back in time. The course is only 8 1/2 miles from the home.

The P.B. Dye Club is another great course and very challenging. In typical P.B. Dye fashion there are plenty of railroad ties that you can bounce your ball off on a bad shot. This is 15 miles from the house but seems closer, as it a nice country drive.

Whiskey Creek Golf club is about 15 miles from the house. It is very, very nice. Very well maintained with a lot of elevation changes

There is also easy access to hiking, canoeing, polo matches, winery tours, antiquing, biking or trail riding either your own or a rented horse, and public golf. We can help you find caterers to serve you meals at home, or help you find just the right restaurant for your outings.

Horseback riding, polo, fishing, antiquing, wineries, golfing, the media room, the scenery, and the spa facilities are the favorite benefits of staying at this property.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had such a tranquil time at the lodge. Being there allowed each of us to leave distracting issues behind and center our focus on being together and soaking up the lovely views and atmosphere. It was a very special place to enjoy our grandson’s (and first grandchild) first Christmas.

The Perfect Luxury Farm House in horse & wine country

  • 5 of 5

To start off with, the communication with Alyse was flawless. We live on the West Coast, and I would e-mail here at 8:30 PM PST, 11:30 EST time she would respond 10 minutes later. She is very professional and very responsive to say the least.

Now about the house. I honestly could not think of one thing that I would change in that wonderful home. It is full of character, life, family & one of the most heart warming parts of the decor was the references to their faith through out the house. Something I wish I could see in more peoples homes.

The house is massive, and can host quite a bit of people even though we only had our family of 4 staying there. On the bottom level you have movie theater seating in front of a massive 70" flat screen ,two bedrooms, a full chefs kitchen and doors that open out to the beautiful fields filled with horses.

The second floor which is actually the floor you come in on has a great kitchen, small family room with TV off to the side that then leads you into the massive great room with open beam ceilings, beautiful fire place and a very large dining area & a baby grand piano. The entire room is lite up with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the beautiful farmland.

The top floor (where we slept) has two bedrooms with a Jack & Jill bathroom and very comfortable beds. You then have a wonderful library with leather couches and another large flatscreen TV, that looks down into the great room and great views out the windows. I am not sure how old the house is but it seems new, and everything is in perfect working condition.

We would spend evenings in the back yard along the fence and pet the horses that would come up and visit us. We would take strolls down the driveway and walk to the stables to see more horses and take in the beautiful setting that this house is on.

Words can not explain how special this house really is, and if it is in your budget you will find that it is worth every dollar that you spend.

Alyse & Tony, thank you for having your house on Home Away, it truly was a pleasure spending 4 days in your dream home, our children will remember this trip for the rest of their lives and so will we:)

God bless you both,

James

wonderful weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had a leadership retreat here at this beautiful space and were totally delighted with both the accommodations, but also the magnificent view. The kitchen was fully appointed, so cooking for a larger group was easy and the dining room easily allowed us all to dine together. The location was not far from the city and yet we felt like we were out in the middle of the country. The nature abounds and the peace and quiet was palpable. I will absolutely stay here again.

Not quite what we expected

  • 3 of 5

The house is located in a beautiful location, horses on the horizon, and remote. Fantastic seclusion with our family. We enjoyed getting away. The house is not quite as nice as the photo suggests. It is quite rustic and needed attention. The light bulbs were missing in many lamps, lighting was poor in many rooms. Bathrooms are nice. Above all the matresses are very soft making sleep tough and needs replacement in our opinion. They had a problem with ants. Obviously with all the rain it is not really their fault.

Dead flowers were left in the kitchen. Perhaps form previous quests.

Owner's Response: I read your review with surprise, as we have never had a bad review. But I take all comments seriously. The light bulbs can easily be fixed, and the mattresses will be replaced. I appreciate your comments. Thank you.

Special place

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time at this huge and beautiful log cabin. It's at the top of the hill with views of pastures filled with horses. There are humans nearby but you rarely see them. The owner Alyse was more than accommodating. She knows every place around. From riding horses to golf to massages. Everything. She helped us with a last minute party and special needs for the old folks. I hope to be coming back soon and staying longer.
