About Lisa Martin

My name is Lisa Martin & my husband is Merv.

My husband works for his brother in a tire shop & I am a secretary at a private school nearby.

We both love old log cabins & peaceful settings.

It had been a dream of ours to restore a old log cabin.

We built this cabin to rent out & share with others.

The cabin was orginally from Manhiem. We numbered the logs tore it down & moved them to this property. My husband & son built the cabin & set it back up. Every minute of spare time they had they worked on it. It took around 1 year to complete. We would love you to come & stay!

Lisa Martin purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Lisa Martin chose Narvon

This is an wonderful place to enjoy the woods and nature. It is peaceful & secluded. It is a serene place for a restored old log cabin.

What makes this cabin unique

We enjoy the solitude & wildlife while staying at the cabin. It is a great place to unwind! Enjoy sitting on the rocking chairs on the front porch overlooking the pond. Listen to the birds, watch for the deer, in the spring listen to the peepers.

Guestbook comments from the owner

THANK YOU!!!

We were so lucky to uncover this treasure in the woods - a perfect spot full of charm & peace. Getting away to just enjoy some solitude together was made all the more memorable because of this idyllic setting. We had fun exploring the local antique shops & enjoying just exploring the countryside - roaming free, happening upon a covered bridge or a small country store, sitting on the deck in the rockers as dusk turned to night - or in the morning as we enjoyed our coffee - we loved to be so one with nature - birds chirping, frogs croaking, lightening bugs flickering. I'm sure we will come back - would love to see it in winter & take in all the natural beauty, rest & relaxation this place has to offer.

Lovely Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We are so happy with our decision to stay in this cabin! My husband and I stayed here for a few days after our wedding, and it was perfect! We loved sitting outside in the big rocking chairs overlooking the pond! The cabin is very clean and feels very cozy. Lisa was extremely accommodating and allowed us to bring our dogs and even drop off a car before check-in time so that we had a way of getting around once we were dropped off at the house after the wedding. We can't wait to return in the future and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

Terribly Disappointed

  • 1 of 5

We were so READY to go on this short getaway. My boyfriend's mom is not well and we have been under extreme stress. Our backs are bad and both of us couldn't wait to get in the hot tub. The cabin is very nicely decorated and looks great at first glance. The outside is beautiful. Now for the bad. When we went to get in the hot tub, IT WAS FILTHY dirty. There was soap like someone put bubbles in it, the water was gray and there was a ring of dirt on the inside rim in the tub. We called Lisa and she did not answer, she only text and gave us the lame excuse that it was a different cleaning lady. She could not fix it because it needed completely drained. We were so disappointed, this is why we went. Hanging from the loft beams was a fly strip that was filled with flies RIGHT OVER THE STOVE. There have not been flies in this area since last summer so they never changed it after the season. We actually saw some that had dropped. When we climbed up into the loft, which is unsafe for children by the way, there were, no lie, around 500 or more dead flies in the windowsill. There were no linens on the beds. Several light bulbs were out or not there at all. The socket in the kitchen didn't work so we had to make toast in the living area. The toaster is a fire hazard, even on the lowest setting it got extremely hot and burned the toast, we had to manually get the toast out. By the way, with that in mind and with a fireplace, there was no smoke alarm or fire extinguisher. If you want to make a good meal, bring your own frying pan because the one there is extremely small. Also, there was no outside trash can so we had to put the trash on the porch. Thank God the weather was unsuitable to go outside on the porch or we would have had to sit next to trash. Or, an animal could have gotten into in and we would have spent our time cleaning up trash. Lisa never called us or came by, just corresponded by text. How in the world this place got 168 five stars is beyond me. We have pictures of it all. Lisa told us we could leave and she would reimburse us, but we had no where to go or extra money at that time. To top it all off, she only gave us one night's rent reimbursement when we stayed three nights. I don't know what happened, but obviously, this rental is not maintained the way it used to be.

Rustic peace

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed our stay in this cozy cabin. (It was how it was represented in the list. It is rustic, cozy and simple.) Everything was very comfortable. We enjoyed some beautiful fires in the fireplace. Being snowed in for a day was cozy, and owner plowed as soon as the snow slowed down so that the driveway was cleared as soon as possible. Cabin is very tastefully decorated. A suggestion would be to have coat hooks somewhere (back of the door perhaps) for winter guests to hang coats. For future guests knowledge, there is no wifi; if you plan to eat in, may want to bring your own paper napkins (we found the abundance of kitchen washclothes to be a fine substitute though). The kitchen was well stock and convenient for cooking. The bed was comfortable. We would stay again if in the area.

Great beautiful and private weekend retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lisa's cabin. The period furnishings are just perfect, and spending a weekend living in a one-room, historic cabin, with modern updates, is the best of both worlds. We enjoyed trekking through the surrounding woods, as well as reading a book beside the fire - and the indoor hot-tub was great! Overall, a great way to unwind and rejuvenate! We look forward to returning in the fall!

Map

There are 3 mailboxes at the end of the driveway. The one mailbox has a green 1070 sign on it. Come back the lane until you get to the y & stay right into the cabin parking lot on the right side of the driveway (after the split rail fence)
