Lake Sunapee could very well be the nicest lake in all of New England depending on what you are looking for. In my opinion , there is no finer place anywhere for a lake vacation. (I have been to five continents, and the N Pole - Ex Navy)
George (the owner) takes excellent care of the property & ensures everything is there that you need. This guy is over the top. He missed his calling, he definitely should have been a concierge at the Four Seasons.
The house itself, while older, is very well kept. It's very large, has three full baths & marble kitchen. You could skip a stone to Mount Sunapee skiing or Lake Sunapee.
Dewey Beach access is included in your rental. They have free loaner paddle boards & row boats of all types
I'll rent again for sure
Great, convenient, and cozy!
I recently rented this house for a weekend stay and it was what we expected it to be and more. The space was great as we had 14 guests total. I also love the 3 full baths and the attic “suite”. I only thing I was bummed about was the small, dated TV. The owner was nice and prompt with his responses to our questions. Overall, a nice and cozy spot to stay when you and a few friends want to go snowboarding in this area. I would definitely recommend this rental to my friends!
Great Home, Great Stay
My friends and I had a great time during our weekend stay at this beautiful home. There were 11 of us but there was plenty of room. The owner was friendly and helpful. Over just a few emails, I was able to know what supplies we needed to bring and what supplies were already at the house. The house is very convenient to Mt. Sunapee and the highway.
Cleaning the house at the end of our stay could not have been easier. There is a washer and dryer, a vaccum, and cleaning supplies available. We cleaned up any mess we made and I received the cleaning deposit back without a problem.
We will definitely be staying here again.
beware of stay
I have rented vacation homes many many times before and this was by far the most complicated and unpleasant stay. From communication with the owner, to trying to rent the place, to getting back my safety deposit. Although there were some dirty pots in the kitchen and dirty sheets on a few beds at my arrival, and I had left the place clean and tidy, the owner did not give me back the deposit. You were expected to clean, but yet there were inadequate cleaning supplies. For the large amount of money your going to spend, be prepared to spend a good amount of your precious vacation time cleaning the house from top to bottom.
Although we had cars with winter tires on them, we had a really hard time getting up the steep driveway since there was a lot of snow covering it. We had to back all the way out into the main busy road, to get a running start to get up to the driveway. The house itself is comfortable and nice but very small living room hang out space. The kitchen doesn't have many options for cooking supplies. It helped there were 3 bathrooms and it was also convenient to Mt Sunapee.
We try to please everyone. Our process is simple, structured and organized. None of these issues were brought to my attention during their stay. I am available 24 hours a day for any issues that may need to be addressed.
We verify that the house is clean and ready for a pleasant stay before any arrivals. We could have missed a pot that may have been put away without the proper cleaning. We try to check every item. The sheets were all changed before their arrival.
There are about a dozen different kinds of cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink. It does not require a lot of time to clean the house if everyone shares in the responsibility. I have been told that the cleaning can be accomplished rather quickly with everyone pitching in.
Our snow removal and sanding is done whenever needed and in a timely fashion. It is done by a local contractor that lives in the neighborhood. He constantly monitors the property and is instructed to keep the driveway plowed and sanded thoroughly. He does an outstanding job considering all of the storms we get.
We have basic cooking supplies in the cabinets. I address any questions and concerns as soon as I am asked. Our pricing is based on the idea that you can save the cleaning cost if you are willing to invest some time. If you do not want to clean the house then you are not entitled to get the nominal fee back.
Great Family Getaway Spot
We had a fairly large group staying in one house and we had a great time. The house was centrally located and very easy to get to.Plenty of space for the 12 of us. We did notice that the ice maker in the freezer was not working and that the cable television lineup was not terribly great (my brother and nephews could not watch the Red Sox or the Little League World Series.) But all in all we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend this property. We love The Anchorage Restaurant and The Quack Shack in Sunapee Harbor.
Skier's Home a way from Home
We had a very nice month staying in this rental property. The landlord was available and helpful when we had questions. Since it was in the winter, we were concerned about the snow plowing etc. This was no problem and we did have a few storms. We found the house very comfortable. The children loved the third floor "suite". Everything was clean and neat especially since it was so newly renovated. We didn't eat out but once and did enjoy the Salt Hill Pub close by.
Our home is 3.3 miles from Mount Sunapee and a 5 minute drive to Sunapee harbor and Dewey beach. There are numerous golf courses close by. The New Hampshire trail system is with in walking distance for snowmobiling or hiking.
