Peaceful Retreat, Minutes to Downtown

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,850 sq ft
Property type bungalow
Minimum Stay 3 - 5 nights

About the property

Farmhouse, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Feel like you're getting away to the country in this early 1900's-era farmhouse, just 10 minutes to downtown Portland, and 30 minutes to world-class Willamette Valley wineries.

Here, you'll enjoy solitude and room to breathe before heading out to explore the city. You'll be centrally located to make easy day trips to wine country. Sip your coffee on the porch swing overlooking the native Northwest front garden. Or stroll around the 3/4-acre, fenced, back yard teeming with birds, frogs, butterflies and sometimes bunnies and deer.

Inside, you'll feel the warmth and charm maintained in this home, complete with a bay window and oversize original windows, arched doorways and fir floors.

Retreat to the master suite, located away from the main living spaces. Here, floor-to-ceiling windows offer a private view to the back garden. The two other bedrooms, each with full-size beds, share a jack and jill bath.

From here, it's a short two-block walk to the grocery store, Starbucks, and neighborhood pub specializing in handcrafted microbrews. Check out the eclectic mix of independently-owned shops and restaurants in Multnomah Village, less than a mile away.

Freeway access is a breeze from this central location: I-5, Hwy 217 and Hwy 26. Close to the Oregon Zoo, OMSI, Lewis and Clark College, OHSU . . . and all that is funky Portland.

The house is on a bus line and bike lane. Downtown Portland is only a 20-minute bike ride away.

Clean, great location, fantastic yard

  • 5 of 5

The house was very clean, everything we needed was there. The yard was amazing, great place for our grandson to run and play. The front yard had so many beautiful plants. So many little treasures to see in the yard. The house is in a great location to get anywhere with ease. Located right near a super market and places to eat.

Would we stay again? Yes.

Beautiful extended weekend in Portland

  • 5 of 5

We loved this location this past week as we brought our family in for a large community event. We have a bunch of special diet needs and the house was well stocked with staples and supplies to make it "home" for a few days. We were extremely pleased with the location and the ease of getting in and out of Portland. All the new updates to this beautiful old home only added to it's beauty.

Comfortable stay

  • 4 of 5

We arrived early at the house and were welcomed by the owner which was a plus. Carrie is a wonderful host and very informative as to good local restaurants. The house was very comfortable and homey and our dog loved the back yard. The neighborhood was nice to walk our dog in and the close proximity grocery store was convenient. Thank you for a house that lended itself to a nice relaxing weekend.

Excellent for families

  • 5 of 5

The house is characterful, up to date where it matters, was spotless when we arrived. Carrie has plainly put a ton of effort into setting up the house and is very responsive to questions. We were visiting family who had just moved to the Portland area - in fact we booked before they had chosen a house - and this location was really convenient both for general visitor basics (airport, downtown, etc) as well as getting to neighboring towns. We weren’t able to take advantage of the garden but that’s a plus as well. I’d absolutely stay again.

Farm House in Portland

  • 4 of 5

First off, this is an absolutely darling little house, in a great location, with an amazing backyard (oh, and also amazing owners). We enjoyed our stay there, and it was a great for our family of 5 and our little dog, too. With that being said, we did have a few issues that I think future VRBO renters might want to know about. First off, the house is very old, which means the heating system is not as effective as today's newer homes. It takes forever to heat the house, and when the heat turns on and off, there is a very loud clunking noise from the basement (this happened many times during the night, causing everyone to wake up). We dealt with a lot of ants in the kitchen. The owner responded and said that she would take care of it as soon as we left, so I assume they are gone now. Finally, the shower in the master bedroom makes a very loud squealing noise when the hot water is on (again, I assume this is due to the age of the home. Not that big of a deal, unless someone was taking a shower, while the others were sleeping). Just to reiterate, we had a wonderful time on our vacation, and the backyard is phenomenal. :)

Owner's Response: We're grateful when our guests let us know when anything at the house isn't working properly so we can immediately fix or replace it. The squealing shower head has been replaced with a new one, and sugar ants have been taken care of and are gone. We've called in a specialist to diagnose and repair or replace the furnace. Thank you!
