peaceful and beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We visited Luray caverns and it was about half hour drive. We hiked in shendoah and it was about an hour drive. The views driving to and from the cabin are beautiful! The cabin itself was clean and quiet. The last bit of road to the cabin was fun to drive and all wheel or 4 wheel drive would be beneficial. Step hills and turns on a dirt roads. No low riders.

Owner's Response: Very glad you enjoyed the cabin! This year has been very wet and there have been some repairs made on the gravel roads, which have resulted in the roads to the cabin being unusually muddy. In the past, we have gone to the cabin with a regular car and have never had any problem. By September the roads should be back into their usual shape.

Quiet, relaxing, peaceful!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I were looking for a quiet relaxing weekend away--and we found it. Yes, there were fun things nearby--canoeing and kayaking (we tried, but found it overcrowded), hiking, Lurray Caverns, etc. We explored and hiked a bit, but just enjoyed coming back to the cabin and taking in the natural views and peace of the place. The cabin itself was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. And yes, we hope to go again.

Nice and close to Shenandoah

  • 5 of 5

We loved watching the birds and hiking the steep road to Shenandoah. It's not an isolated cabin, but it's definitely remote. Make sure you get in before the evening fog settles. We can't wait to visit again.

Peaceful get away in the mountains

  • 4 of 5

I liked the feeling of being remote, the hilly, curvy gravel roads to the cabin were fun. It was about a 30 minute drive to the Thornton gap entrance in the Shenandoah NP. Bed was comfortable, Kitchen appliances and DVD player worked well. Had to vacuum up some bugs brought on by the warm spring air. Grilled (charcoal grill) out on the deck with nice view looking out at rolling wooded mountains. Limited to no cell reception was ok got phone updates on the ride to NP.

Definitely Disconnected!

  • 3 of 5

Well, we wanted a weekend away from it all, this place definitely does that for you! Four days without internet or phone was great!

We had a couple of issues with the cabin though; found the dishes and utensils needed cleaning before we used them, also the two storm doors were broken and did not close and lock. The light in the kitchen needs to have the dead bugs cleaned out of it.

Owner's Response: Thank you for pointing out the issue about the doors, and will work on those. Apologies for the dish cleaning; we tend to rely on previous guests for dish cleaning -- everybody has always been very kind and attentive to future guests coming after them, but not this time around. All the best.

Seclusion and Bliss

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the cabin! If your looking for time away from it all...this is your spot! You are right near the Shenandoah National Park for hiking, horse back riding, friendly people, peace and quiet. Enjoy the BBQue grill while watching the stars. Make sure you get there during the day...or you will never locate it at night! Stock up on groceries and sit back, relax, have nice dinner and wine under the stars...time to regroup and enjoy your families company! Thank you!
