Island Get Away

  • 4 of 5

My friend and I stayed two nights in the Island Rental. It was all we needed. Close to the ferry, restaurants, Pubs, and museum. The house was clean and well stocked. The bathroom is small, but had plenty of towels. The upstairs bedrooms were fine even if the bathroom was downstairs. There were nightlights showing the way. The only thing was the microwave was on top of the refrigerator and it was hard to use as we are both short. We didn't get to making a fire or using the grill as we stayed out to long. Both of us enjoyed the home and touring around the island.

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is cute, the furnishings are very nice but the structure itself is a bit rough. Owner indicates he is planning to do updates after the busy season. Nice decks on both side and back of house.

Paul was helpful and very responsive. The upstairs is not exactly 2 bedrooms but more an area divided by a wall with a doorway and a curtain. You have to walk through one bedroom to get to the other. This worked fine for us but something to be aware of depending on who you are traveling with. The location is excellent, walking distance to everything in town, biking distance to everything else.

Snug and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Paul's little Treasure House is on the Main Street of town, about two blocks from the ferry. While not on the lake side it is set back from the road, so quiet, and has an amazing back yard. At night you can hear the live music from Tom's Burned Down Cafe. The house itself is smaller and quite old, which gives it a special charm. When we stayed, he was aware it needs some kitchen updating and plans to tackle the job this fall. The household is adequately stocked and Paul was a great host, meeting us for an initial orientation and then promptly replying to a couple questions we had during the week. Be aware, this cottage is somewhat rustic with steep stairs to the bedrooms and no extra frills, but its historic personality is charming and we were very comfortable.

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

The location can’t be beat - right on Main Street but set back far enough to be private and quiet. Paul was a perfect host. Lots of clean towels, two bikes to ride, accommodates four very comfortably, although the shower may be too small for larger people. Charming interior with lots of character; lots of outdoor seating as well. Fast WiFi and cable TV. Thank you for a great stay!

Cute little old house

  • 4 of 5

Staying in this house reminded me very much of the house my grandfather built in the 1950s, and still lives in. The upstairs bedrooms are quite small with slanted walls to match the roof line, and the stairs are a bit steep. The partition between the 2 bedrooms is a hanging curtain.

The main level of the house has one comfortable living room area and a decent sized kitchen with modern appliances. There is only one bathroom and it is tiny.

There was a fire pit area provided, as well as a BBQ grill, but we did not utilize either of those.

The house is a short walk from the "downtown" area and also from a small beach area.

We enjoyed our stay here!
