About the property

4 bedrooms, 4 baths, sleeps 10 - 4 queen beds and 2 twins, 2 floor futons, crib

Lakefront Log Home on Henry's Lake is a waterfront, 2352 sq.ft. 2-story vacation home located only 20 minutes from Yellowstone Park and West Yellowstone, MT. This home sleeps 10 in beds with the limitation of 8 adults (over 18 yrs.) and 5 children: 13 people total occupancy. There are 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms : 4 queen beds, 2 twin beds, 2 floor futons, and one crib. The home is situated on a 1.24 acre property in a quiet neighborhood of half a dozen homes. It is constructed of 14 inch diameter hand-peeled logs, creating a cozy and rustic lodge atmosphere. The deck offers a 220 degree view of the lake, unobstructed by houses and framed with attractive hand-peeled log railings. It has a BBQ grill and outdoor seating, where you'll enjoy quality time with friends and family as you gaze upon ponds frequented by wild ducks and geese, and the vast lake beyond. The beautiful mountains of the Grand Tetons loom in the distance, completing a panoramic view of Rocky Mountains making up the continental divide . We are delighted to announce our 2017 completed bathroom remodel which now provides a fourth bathroom for the Elk room. Please see our photo of the floor layout.

The home is at a perfect location, as it is close to Yellowstone National Park (West Yellowstone, MT) and Teton National Park.

Having the lake off the backyard makes it great for a fishing vacation since it is situated on one of the finest trophy still water fisheries in North America. Locals catch and release over 40 trout a day using wet fly techniques. Fishing is excellent because Henry's Lake has abundant populations of Cutthroat, Brook, and trophy hybrid Cutbow trout. The largest fish in Henry's Lake are the rainbow/cutthroat hybrids that tip the scales up to 16 pounds. The state record for brook trout weighs in at 7.2 pounds and was caught in Henry’s Lake. The home has a private marina nearby with boat launch available for your use. A boat rental company, Wild Rose Ranch, is five minutes away. Within a 30 minute drive, you can fish the nearby blue ribbon Madison river, Henry's Fork of the Snake River, Hebgen Lake, and Quake Lake. Yellowstone Lake is 1.5 hours away where there are no limits on Lake trout. The fishing off the backyard is excellent in the Fall (September and October). A recent guest caught and released 3 fish an hour (many over 20') with a float tube and caught an 8 pound cuttbow in October 2011, just in front of the house.

You'll enjoy returning to this lovely quiet log home after a day of fishing or exploring Yellowstone National Park.

The home is situated on a 1.24 acre property in a quiet neighborhood of half a dozen homes. The large lawn is well maintained and the owner provides sport equipment for outside activities. The back deck has a BBQ grill and outdoor seating. You'll enjoy quality time with friends and family as you gaze upon ponds and the vast lake beyond. Gorgeous views of Henry's Lake and the mountains will encourage you to relax and unwind as you take in the peace and quiet. The lakeside firepit will make beautiful memories on a starry night.

Surrounded by Targhee National Forest, the property is visited by elk, deer, moose, and a red fox. Ducks and geese frequent the property's ponds, while local osprey cruise the shoreline, providing excellent bird watching opportunities. Coyotes and owls can often be heard at night outside the house. The latest hatch of goslings and ducklings are fun to watch as the eat they backyard grass in the spring. In the fall, we have seen muskrats chase ducks around the property ponds. A glimpse of a short tailed weasel can be seen in the spring, controlling the local mouse population.

You will love the custom western decor with its attractive hand-peeled log furniture, dining table, chairs, and rustic aspen beds. The great room has a beautiful new oak floor with three comfortable leather couches with seating for 9, situated around a 46' LCD flat screen TV with satellite service, Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and DVD player and Ipod entertainment system with surround sound. The white tail deer on the walls add to the rustic charm. The adjoining kitchen features a new large stainless steel refrigerator, new microwave, new gas stove, and new dishwasher. It is fully equipped with anything you might need to cook a meal, from a Thanksgiving turkey dinner to a crock pot meal.

The large dining room offers magnificent views of Henry's Lake. It features a wagon wheel chandelier with antique lanterns and a 10 person - 3 foot by 7 foot cedar dining room table. You'll enter the Trout Room (the master bedroom) from the dining room. It has a queen size bed and fantastic views of Henry's Lake and the distant mountains. The adjoining bathroom has been remodeled in 2017.

The Elk Room has a queen size bed and a view of Saddle Mountain where herds of elk can be seen in the fall. Exquisite elk antler light sconces grace this room. A remodel in 2017 has provided this bedroom its own bathroom.

The Moose Room has a queen size bed and is located just off the great room under the loft. It has an adjoining full bathroom with a sink, tub and shower.

The log staircase in the great room leads to the Bear Room in the loft where a queen size bed and two twin beds are located. The adjoining bathroom has a sink and shower.

In West Yellowstone visit the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center, where you can view grizzlies and wolves in a natural habitat. Or visit the IMAX theater with several nature oriented films offered daily.

In Island Park you'll enjoy visiting Big Springs, which is the major head water spring for the Henry's Fork River. The Upper and Lower Mesa Falls in Island Park are also well worth a visit.

About Roxane Fields

We are a family of avid fishermen that enjoy the outdoors. We visited the area to see Yellowstone National Park and fish. While fishing at Henrys Lake, we discovered this home for sale. We have enjoyed working on the home, designing the remodel, and creating many of the custom furnishings.

Roxane Fields purchased this house in 2010

Why Roxane Fields chose Yellowstone

Being fishermen, we have rented many lakefront properties. This home and its location took our breath away. Initially the home had a floor plan problem that was remodeled in the winter of 2010. We loved sitting on the steps, facing the lake and purchased a custom log bench to enjoy that view. We feel privileged to own such a beautiful home.

What makes this house unique

We have loved and guests tell us that the bench on the deck is one of the most peaceful places. Months later, they tell us that they still think about the moments spent there. The fire pit is also a time where groups enjoy closeness that is rarely found in our busy lives. The home is close enough to supermarkets to get needed supplies, yet far enough away to feel secluded, with only the sounds of nature. With no outside lights in the area, the light from the stars and moon are breathtaking. Many of the furnishings are custom made using antique components, providing a level of quality that is rarely found in a vacation rental. The animal life still surprises us. One day the deck light turned on to reveal a red fox. Another day looking out a widow early one morning, we noticed a herd of elk walking though the property grounds. I keep trying to get a picture of the quick short tailed weasel, keeping the mice under control in the spring. The latest hatch of goslings and ducklings are fun to watch as they eat the backyard grass in the spring. In the fall, we have seen muskrats chase ducks around the property ponds.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Henry's Lake Log house is a great place as a base for exploring YNP, and also the wonderful places around this end of Idaho - Harriman State Park and Hebgen Lake. We especially enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the sun come up, and in the afternoon enjoying the serenity of the lake. Thanks for the use of the beautiful home. Guests from Colorado.

What a great way to spend a week visiting Yellowstone Park

  • 5 of 5

When we first arrived, all the grand kids could say was WOW! We had a great time on our trip , and our home away from home helped to make the trip special. Beautiful Log home with 4 bedrooms and each had its on bathroom which was perfect. Our grandson really enjoyed having the loft all to himself. We had lots of supplies, plenty of condiments, coolers, and even bear spray. (We did not need to use it but we did see a grizzley in the park.)

The setting of the house on the lake was fantastic. I could sit on the porch and just enjoy being there. I highly recommend this property. Interacting with the owner was great and what she told us about the property was accurate. I only wish we had more than 1 week. We did not get the chance to fish in the lake or make a fire in the outdoor fire pit. If we ever have a chance to come back, We would stay here again.

Owner's Response: We are glad that you had a great time! We added an additional bathroom over the winter, so that the house would be more enjoyable. We also enjoy sitting on the deck watching the lake and looking for new animals. This last spring we saw a badger and a deer between the house and the lake, though not enough time to get the camera.

The Great Yellowstone Base Camp

  • 5 of 5

My very large family spent a week at this wonderful vacation home just 20 minutes outside of Yellowstone. The property was exactly as pictured and described, in fact, I don't think the pictures do it justice. The views are magnificent and the location can't be beat for convenience to Yellowstone, Mesa Falls, and The Grand Tetons.

Roxane was a dream to work with and was very responsive to any questions we had. I have never stayed in a place so well supplied. I always take paper towels, toilet paper, dishwasher liquid, etc. because there is never enough, but there was no need for me to bring any of it to this rental. Everything was supplied in excess all the way down to the marshmallow roasters and fire wood.

I would highly recommend this vacation rental. There was plenty of space for the entire family. My nephew took a particular interest in the crow's nest where he felt he could spy on everyone and the baby fell in love with the huge stuffed bear. It was his favorite place to grab a quick nap.

Thanks, Roxane, for sharing your home with us. If we are ever out that way again, we will definitely be booking this home.

Perfect for Yellowstone

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a 10 day Yellowstone centric vacation for 8 adults. This house is quiet and in a beautiful lakeside location. 18-20 minutes from the western Yellowstone gate and the restaurants in the town of West Yellowstone. Clean, updated, quiet, well appointed, well thought out, and well located. The hosts were easy to contact and work with. I am happy to heartily recommend this property for family fun.

Beautiful Home on Henry's Lake

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent two weeks at this beautiful home on Henry's Lake Idaho. It was a great jumping off point for Yellowstone, Grand Tetons and ghost towns of Montana. My brother fly fished almost every day on Henry's lake and caught the biggest brown and rainbow trout I have ever seen. We were able to mark off some bucket list items such as visiting the Tetons, hiking and photographing Upper and Lower Yellowstone Falls, seeing herds of buffalo and elk and fly fishing in the Madison & Gibbons rivers. It was an amazing time for my whole family and the house was just not a rental but felt like home. The home was very comfortable and spacious for a family of 6 and waking up and seeing all the wild life in and around the home was wonderful. We saw bald eagles and hawks and some ducks that like to hang out in the little pond behind the house. We were not able to use the fire pit as we would have liked too because of the high winds and fire restrictions but that did not dampen our fun at all. West Yellowstone MT proved to be a great little town to visit to get all the amenities we needed or just to go have some lunch. Coming in September we knew we were risking the possibility of inclement weather and Idaho did not disappoint, where we had a day that snowed but it was wonderful just to hang out in W. Yellowstone for the day and see the mountain caps become white with snow. The rest of the time we had wonderful weather and even some rain at night which helped with putting out the Berry fire and the fires in Montana.

Thank you again for the use of your wonderful home, it had all the comforts we needed to make out visit to Idaho, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons and Montana memorable. We would love to come back someday soon.
