About this property

Appalachian log cabin in Leatherwood Mountains with 2 bdrms + loft, Views

WOW, what a top of the ridge view! Hemlock Point is an Appalachian Log Homes cabin built in the vernacular of the historic style. Square logs reminiscent of the Scotch Irish settlers in the 1700's make you feel as if you have stepped back to an earlier time. Large hemlocks, abundant on this property give Hemlock Point cabin its name. Furnished with antiques, a claw foot bathtub, a modern spa hot tub on the deck, natural materials, comfortable furniture, quilts, a soapstone fireplace (albeit gas logs), a real wood fireplace on the outside deck, a gun on the mantle, a variety of varmints hung on the wall (bought at auction)... collections to create an atmosphere of make believe. You are a now in the role of mountain settler, cozy up to the fire and set a spell.

The mountain ridge views from this log home are phenomenal. The breezes of refreshing mountain air are exhilarating. Looking out over 7 to 9 ridges (depends on the day) you can imagine how it looked to 'first nations' peoples and early settlers seeing it for the first time. Daniel Boone traversed these mountain ranges, living just few miles away on the Yadkin River. You certainly will believe that God was at work in building all the mountain's glory. Most of our guests have commented on God's blessings for this space, this mountain, this respite in their lives. Leatherwood Mountains subdivision, a 4000 acre gated community in southwestern Wilkes County, NC, is well known in the horse world for its extensive horse trail system, some of the most rugged in the eastern United States. The 50 miles of trails within the subdivision are perfect for hikers as well as horsemen. The views, the trails, the nature, the glory will abide here for all time.

Hemlock Point Cabin is handicapped 'friendly'. It has a wheelchair ramp, wide doorways on the first level, shower and toilet bars...while not meeting every requirement for your family member that is handicapped, we have made it accessible. Make sure you include ALL of your family on your vacation.

Sitting on the top of a ridge, Hemlock Point cabin's views toward the western mountain ranges encompass up to 7 distant ridges. Hemlock Point cabin is located in private wilderness Leatherwood Mountains subdivision. Being in the wilderness does not mean that one should be without modern comforts. The cabin features WiFi with Streaming Roku television with Netflix and Amazon Prime subscriptions; a well stocked kitchen for your self catering convenience includes both drip and Keurig style coffee makers. Your vacation can either be a 'staycation' and enjoy Leatherwood Mountains swimming pool, tennis courts, horseback riding and hiking trails, zip line, restaurant, and mountain fishing streams...OR take day trips to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Yadkin Valley Wineries, Linville Caverns, Blowing Rock, Tweetsie Railroad, Foggy Mountain Gem Mining, and a variety of other activities. Mountain vacation 2023
Upon check in, we were expecting to use the gas fireplace and relax with friends on a long awaited vacation. We further inspected the gas fireplace and gas tank to discover the tank was empty. So the entire stay (cool weather mind you) we couldn't use the fireplace. We were told by the owners basically nothing could be done. The cleaning crew could have done a better job before our stay. Lots of dirty windows and hand prints on glass doors. We didn't use the hot tub the first night and we're glad we didn't. It was dirty with leaves and debris floating around. The cabin was rustic and authentic. The area was beautiful. We would suggest however looking at some of the door knobs for problems. The furniture was a little dated and uncomfortable. We will not stay here again.

Nice cabin
The cabin was nice, but the hotub needed a new filter. There was debris after we turned the bubbles on and no chlorine in the water. Overall we loved the cabin, they have everything you need there. We had trouble getting in the gate, we were only sent a door code and couldnt get back on the site to contact the property manager. There is no cell service here, eventually we able to use wifi... beautiful place, beautiful view, nice quiet getaway... we will be back!!

Such A Relaxing Stay
If your coming to Boon or Wilkesboro to relax this is the place to stay. A very well-stocked cabin, and a great place to get away from it all. We came up for Merlfest and this was a perfect retreat from festival life. The views were breathtaking and you might even get a peek of a ton of stars at night. Can't wait to come back on our next adventure to the area.

Weekend Getaway
I have been burning the candle at both ends lately and just needed a quick weekend getaway to the mountains. Although the home was older, it was clean. The area was remote which is what I was looking for. The views were as advertised and perfect for recharging the battery. The wifi worked perfectly which was good since I didn't have cell service. Make sure you check your messages before you leave to get the gate code. I didn't do this, and the lack of cell service made getting to the property problematic. Also, I'm glad I stopped by the grocery to pick up some essentials before I left. There really weren't any stores or restaurants close by. That was okay with me, though. The peace, beauty, and tranquility of the property made it a perfect weekend.

'The Human Spirit needs places where nature has not been rearranged by the hand of man,' written by an unknown author. We love the rural life! Our passions are the Blue Ridge Mountains and Eastern North Carolina on the Pamlico River. We surround our lives with history and culture; finding joy in the lives of those that came before us. We relish all things of nature: woods, wildlife, Celtic Music, boating, hiking, horseback riding, crafting, gardening... we see God's hands at work in the land and the creative spirit.

Why they chose this property

In 1997 we made a leap of faith and purchased our first property at Leatherwood Mountains Resort. We appreciated Leatherwood Mountain's concept of stewardship in creating a human presence but maintaining the wilderness for all generations. Our 16 acres at the center of 4000 protected acres will always be a home for God's creatures. Our views across the mountains will pretty much be the same for our lives and the lives of those that come after us. The North Carolina High Country in northeastern N C has a tremendous cultural history that speaks to our interests. The beauty and availability of wilderness areas soothes our souls. We feel very blessed to have found our spot that brings all of our loves together.

What makes this property unique

Hemlock Point is designed to take you away from where ever you come from...away to an earlier time in our history, back to life of our forefathers. Mountain life was part and parcel to the environment...the home was made from trees, the scene taken in was of God's handiwork, everything was slower and more deliberate in nature; one heard the cicadas, saw the stars in the night sky, witnessed the morning sunrise. We want there to be a place left in this busy world to relish nature. Take a horse back ride through the mountains. But all that being said, Hemlock Point is situated close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and is close to many Blue Ridge Mountain activities and points of interest. Best of both worlds! Hemlock Point cabin is located in gated Leatherwood Mountains Resort. The square Hemlock logs, gas fireplace, rustic wood cabinets and antiques, including a claw foot tub, are all meant to give you the true North Carolina mountain settler cabin experience.
