About Watauga Lake & River vacation cabin rentals

This place is for the outdoorsy. Folks who like to fish, hike, ski (snow and water skiing). If you love 'God's' country, beautiful scenery and views an dif your idea of 'wildlife' is deer and turkey then you have picked the right spot! Boat rentals thru the local marina's made this lake a first pick.

Watauga Lake & River vacation cabin rentals purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Watauga Lake & River vacation cabin rentals chose Tennessee

This vacation rental offers many diverse activities.

You have winter sports to summer sports where the water is very clean. You have fall foliage to sunny summers with no humidity or mosquitoes.

You have nascar racing in Bristol Tennessee just 40 miles

Beech Mountain, NC for snow skiing is 15 miles

Great unique dining/shopping in the near-by towns of Boone and Blowing Rock with outdoor festivals and live entertainment. Family oriented areas. Boat rentals on the lake make it easy for us to teach our kids about the waterways, swimming, fishing and waterskiing without having the expense of owning our own boat.

What makes this cabin unique

The most unique benefit is the versatility of this location.

Snow skiing to jet skiing, Fall foliage to wildlife viewing right here on the property. Gorgeous views anytime of the year that are second to none. Paved roads, with good access to town, shopping and restaurants. Zip lines, whitewater rafting, Bristol race. Where mtns meet water.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you all for another enjoyable weekend at your cabin Hidden Cove. Once again we checked into a super clean place with a warm bubbling hot tub. Loved all the new furniture. The sofa is extremely comfortable and the new dinning room set is adorable. New stain out side even new deck furniture. Everyone in our group appreciates how well you keep your place up. The roads are paved and its easy to get a round. We made it into town in less than 20 mins. Notice too some new stores that opened. Love the new restaurants that you told us about in our welcome package. Suba's has some excellent food selections especially their deserts. I appreciated the heads up on the dishwasher. Sears was in and out in 30 mins after replacing with a new one. It worked great too. We also appreciated the bottle of Champagne, how nice of you to remember our wedding anniversary. You guys do a great job and we'll continue to return every year. Please reserve the spring race dates for 2015. We look forward to our return trip. If you send us the link we'll post our review where ever you like or you are welcome to Post on our behalf.

Hidden Cove had all we needed and more!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time at Watauga Lake. The views from this Mtn cabin were majestic!! The cabin was well maintained, The furnishings & beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with ample cookware and dishes. The outdoor decks were great for sitting and taking in the view, very peaceful. The canoe was a great plus, we paddled up the river and back, was just an awesome time. We finished up each night by the outdoor fire pit or in the hot tub. This cabin really had lots to offer and we can't wait to come back!!

Another great stay at Hidden Cove!

  • 5 of 5

We just left this property last week. Our stay in Jan was great. We hit the slopes every day. Sugar and Beech were in full swing with lots of snow. The cabin we loved. This place is very clean, neat and everything needed is provided. Our family really enjoyed the beds. They are extremely comfortable with very nice linens and comfortable pillows. All bedrooms have glass sliding doors that open up onto decks making it so convenient to just step out and get a breath of fresh air. You can tell the views of the lake and mountains were taken right off the deck of this house you can even focus in and see the exact same railing on the deck as the online pictures. Just note that each season has its look. Winter will look more bear with less water and foliage. Summer months are going to be a totally different look. We have stayed her twice now. Our last stay was in July and the lake was so full of water that it was splashing on the road. Even though water levels fluctuate with the seasons its still pretty much the same gorgeous view. The housekeeper does live just below the hill and thank good ness for that. I called twice for help. First I locked myself out, she arrived within minutes to get me back in. She even stopped by to help me when my youngest got sick. She gets a big A+ for that assistance and so thankful for her being close enough to help quickly. We found the other homes & yards in the area to be neat & clean. Our expectations of the property have been met both stays. We love it and plan to return soon.

Beautiful Cabin

  • 3 of 5

I loved the cabin however the pictures of the lake were very misleading, the lake view is not the same as the pics posted the water levels are very low and you mostly see mud flats. There is also a dumpy trailer right in front of the cabin so you will be looking at it the whole time.

Owner's Response: Most guests do 'love' this place. Its a great cabin for most. The views of the lake and mountains are taken during the Spring, Summer and Fall months. That is Watauga lakes peak season and when guest typically utilize the lake unless ice fisherman come up in the winter. This year mother nature blessed most of the south eastern United State with a water draught so yes the water was down more than normal. This guest visited in Dec when the ski & tubing slopes are open and the lake is not usually used. Still the views are beautiful with gorgeous mountain range as the back drop and Cherokee National Forest. As far as your housekeepers home, its neat, clean and well kept. She does a great job getting the cabin clean as a whistle for guests, most really appreciate her services and the fact that they can see just a few places in a very remote area can sometime be comforting. Know that there are no homes on top of this property. Its a ways down the hill and doesn't obstruct your beautiful views.

Loved that place but couldn't enjoy our coffee the first morning because the coffeemaker didn't work. Overall a great experience. By the way make sure that you will be able to connect you phone to the wifi call because there absolutely no cellular service around

Owner's Response: Glad you 'all enjoyed your stay. So happy housekeeping got a new coffee pot to you quickly, we understand how hard it is missing that first cup in the morning. Yes, because you are surrounded by mountains cell reception isn't good, texting works better. Guests can easily connect to wifi to make calls or pickup the cabin phone and make unlimited long distance calls. Guests can also forward their phone to the cabin so they don't miss any calls. *72 plus the cabin number will forward calls. Sometimes, as guests you are looking for a get away, but know that we can help you stay connected.

It had everything we needed and was beautiful. Views were great. Very comfortable.

We'd love to stay again. We rented a pontoon boat and was out on the lake on Friday and went hiking Saturday, so we didn't spend a tremendous amount of time in the house. However, we were able to come back and enjoy the hot tub and firepit. Plus the kitchen had everything we needed to cook and prepare meals. The driveway was a little difficult to navigate, but not to bad. I also think that the master bedroom way outshines the two bedrooms downstairs. Whomever gets the master is really in for a treat. But the other two are fairly small but offer a great view. Although we didn't plan to use the canoes and kayak that come with the house, their location was not obvious and it's a little ways from the house. But again, we made no effort to find and use them.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your kind words. So glad you all enjoyed your stay. Pontoon rentals are made easy thru any of the local marina's and you are provided with a boat slip and complimentary canoe just a short walk from the cabin down to the water. Yes, the hot tub and fire pit are both available so glad you could enjoy both. This property does offer a really nice, big master bedroom with a king size bed. The other two bedrooms down stairs offer queens, TV's and sliding glass doors that open up lakeside onto decking. Every rooms got a great view! Know you all are welcome back anytime.

Notes:
After renting cabins ourselves for years we knew the important factors and convenience, Comfort and Privacy were at the top of our list. The great room offers an open floor plan combining living area, dining room and kitchen. This allows everyone to be together whether cooking, watching TV & playing board games at the dining room table. Folks who are on Deck are just off the great room and just a yell away. The large six person hot tub is on deck too secluded on the side of the home overlooking the water and mtn range. Parking for RV/Boat/Trailer: You are able to bring and park trailers and boats at digisnated area* Lake View: with boat slip just a few mins walk. You have an absolutely gorgeous view of the lake and Cherokee National Forest * Mountain View: Cherokee National forest * Boat rentals at the Local marina's.
