If you love 'God's' country, beautiful scenery and views an dif your idea of 'wildlife' is deer and turkey then you have picked the right spot! Boat rentals thru the local marina's made this lake a first pick.

Watauga Lake & River vacation cabin rentals purchased this cabin in 2009

What makes this cabin unique

The most unique benefit is the versatility of this location.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you all for another enjoyable weekend at your cabin Hidden Cove. Once again we checked into a super clean place with a warm bubbling hot tub. Loved all the new furniture. The sofa is extremely comfortable and the new dinning room set is adorable. New stain out side even new deck furniture. Everyone in our group appreciates how well you keep your place up. The roads are paved and its easy to get a round. We made it into town in less than 20 mins. Notice too some new stores that opened. Love the new restaurants that you told us about in our welcome package. Suba's has some excellent food selections especially their deserts. I appreciated the heads up on the dishwasher. Sears was in and out in 30 mins after replacing with a new one. It worked great too. We also appreciated the bottle of Champagne, how nice of you to remember our wedding anniversary. You guys do a great job and we'll continue to return every year. Please reserve the spring race dates for 2015. We look forward to our return trip. If you send us the link we'll post our review where ever you like or you are welcome to Post on our behalf.

Hidden Cove had all we needed and more!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great time at Watauga Lake. The views from this Mtn cabin were majestic!! The cabin was well maintained, The furnishings & beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with ample cookware and dishes. The outdoor decks were great for sitting and taking in the view, very peaceful. The canoe was a great plus, we paddled up the river and back, was just an awesome time. We finished up each night by the outdoor fire pit or in the hot tub. This cabin really had lots to offer and we can't wait to come back!!

A beautiful cabin in a relatively secluded area

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't do this property justice - the home was beautiful. The three floors allowed for great privacy, while the square footage made it cozy. Everything worked (appliances, hot tub, grill, TV's), though cellular coverage was spotty in this remote area. We lost power in a thunderstorm, but it was restored in roughly two hours. If you stay here, keep in mind it is at least a 20 minute drive to anything - restaurants, stores, etc. We didn't mind this, but others may. You are also not lake side; it's a brief but steep walk down the street to the stairs to the dock. Not a problem for us, but don't expect to run outside and jump in the lake. The house was extremely clean, comfortable, and beautiful, and we had no problems whatsoever. We highly recommend!

Owner's Response: Always nice to hear kind words. Yes, this is a spacious three story home with lots of bells and whistles. Our team works hard at keeping everything in good working order and if help is needed they respond promptly. Yes, this place is at the lower part of the mountain, high enough to get you that great view and close enough to walk down to the water where you have a boat slip. Bring your boat or rent one thru the local marina. Cell service can be spotty anywhere in the mountains. Thats why this property provides unlimited long distance so you can pick up the phone and call anyone, anytime. Guests who have spotty cell reception can forward their phones to the cabin so that no calls are missed. Texting works best in the mountains. Mtn City electric does a great job getting power restored quickly. Dry Hill General is a great breakfast, lunch and dinner option thats less than a ten minute drive and about $8 a plate. Shirley's restaurant has a line out the door on Saturdays and Sundays about a 12 minute drive and the Captains table is a finer dinning restaurant on the lake that is still kid friendly and offers adult beverages. Watauga lake winery is less than a 10 minute drive too. Theres several places to eat, drink and dine that are close. There are also vacation villages in every direction (30 min drive) where you'll find chain restaurants, fine dinning, live music, amusement and festivals. All are listed in the welcome package that each guests receives. Be sure to read over this information so you don't miss out on all the fun and know you do have local choices to choose from.

Beautiful View!

  • 3 of 5

The cabin itself was beautiful....and the view is spectacular. One thing that we were disappointed in was the linens. The pillows were extremely flat so we went to the closet where the extra pillows were stored, only to find those dirty and stained. The rest of the bedding was old, along with the towels. (Towels smelled like someone left them in the washer and didn't dry them for a few days.......musty/mildew smelling) To make this a great stay, a little investment in the linens would make this a 5 star location. Other suggestions would be to inform guest that the location is on top of a mountain. They should get ALL groceries needed thus the nearest one is over 1/2 hour away. (Maybe longer because we tried to stop by Dry Hill General Store. It's closed on weekends and I wouldn't recommend Elk Mill. (Place is filthy.)

Owner's Response: Yes, this is definitely a beautiful place that offers a spectacular view. Sorry that the linens weren't up to par for this guest. Guests are welcome to use our linens. We don't advertise 500 thread count sheets but they are in good shape and clean. The pillows are new and seem to work fine for us as well as others. There's also a washer and dryer that guests are welcome to use if towel smells are a concern. This property has been packed back to back with guests since Memorial Day. Just don't see how towels could be musty smelling with all the washing that goes on during the peak season. Guests aren't charged lines fees. All of the linens and towels are complimentary but guests are also welcome to bring their own linens especially if someone's real picky. This cabin is almost at the base of the mountain. For guests that are from the flat plains it may seem like the top of the world. Its a longer drive to the top of this mountain where you'll find even more cabins. This property is closer to the lake and water. The drive way up is a little steep but what most would expect in the mountains. Plenty of parking too. All guests are supplied with a lengthly welcome package, about 5 pages long. The welcome package suggests guests stop on their way into the cabin to pick up groceries so that the trip back to town is optional. There are towns with grocery stores, walmarts and movie theaters in all directions in about 30 mins you can be at any of them. The gas station mentioned is just that a "gas" station. They are nice enough to change flat tires so they seem to meet the expectation of a 'gas' station.

Fantastic views

  • 3 of 5

Pros: Fantastic views, great hot tub, large balconies, plenty of supplies. We had problems with a few things and when we called, we always got a quick response and everything was handled quickly.

Cons: Furniture was uncomfortable, cabin was dirty, boards on porch need work done, was further from lake than we thought. The curtains downstairs didn't exist or were see thru and barely covered windows. Yard crew started weed whacking at 7:00 AM and didn't clean up. Dock was very hard to get to. After looking 2 days for the canoe, we found it at another dock. Wifi was very weak.

Owner's Response: Yes, there are some fantastic views from this property. Thats a big new hot tub thats hot, bubbly and ready for guests to enjoy. There is lots of decking so that guests can enjoy great views in all directions. Yes, guests who call get a timely response from any member of our team. Just know these folks are regular people who want to help. They can't change the weather report or move mountains but are good reliable people. It takes a team to make a property work. The furniture is on the newer side. Sorry that the arm covers weren't completely in place. The housekeepers would have been happy to return & correct anything wrong. We try hard to please. Yes, weed eating was done. Wasn't really needed but again trying to make guests happy. Yes, this guest visited our neighbors dock, he's a real nice guy and understood folks were on vacation and didn't mind. Guests should always review their welcome package and make note of the correct dock to use.

Very Nice stay at a great place.

  • 5 of 5

The view was perfect, loved the fire pit and hot tub and used each evening. The weather was pleasant, not too hot but just right. The place was clean as advertised. The reservation process was very easy and we were afforded payment options which we really appreciate. This rental agency alakecabin4u has several properties in this area. Wish I had realized all their choices at the time of booking so friends could join us. We'll save that for next year.

Owner's Response: That view is about as close to perfect as you can get. Glad you enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub. They sit right next to each other so some can be enjoying one while others enjoy the other one. Our housekeepers try hard and anytime we're ever there the place is very clean.Glad you found the reservation process easy and that affordable payment options were offered. Thats important to many working families. Yes, we have several cabin options small, medium and large some perfect for just couples while others can handle large families. Thanks so much for all the compliments.

After renting cabins ourselves for years we knew the important factors and convenience, Comfort and Privacy were at the top of our list. The great room offers an open floor plan combining living area, dining room and kitchen. This allows everyone to be together whether cooking, watching TV & playing board games at the dining room table. Folks who are on Deck are just off the great room and just a yell away. The large six person hot tub is on deck too secluded on the side of the home overlooking the water and mtn range. Parking for RV/Boat/Trailer: You are able to bring and park trailers and boats at digisnated area* Lake View: with boat slip just a few mins walk. You have an absolutely gorgeous view of the lake and Cherokee National Forest * Mountain View: Cherokee National forest * Boat rentals at the Local marina's.
