About John (Jack) Jeffrey

I am a retired Marine Engineer from the Panama Canal Zone and my lovely wife Esperanza is from Cali, Colombia. We stay busy with our vacation rental, travel.

John (Jack) Jeffrey purchased this house in 2006

Why John (Jack) Jeffrey chose Bisbee

Family history and general love of Bisbee made us retire here in 1999.The residents are so unique and welcoming to newcomers and tourists! There is definitely something for everyone who comes to Bisbee. My Great Grandfather was a mine foreman back in the early 1900's and both my Dad and Grandfather worked in the mines.

What makes this house unique

Being in a unique central location to restaurants, museums, coffee shops and wonderful shopping is great. Park your car and dont move it until departure! Our porch overlooks the grassy park.

The Copper Queen House in Historic Bisbee Arizona

"A perfect weekend getaway! Awesome location!"

The Copper Queen house was everything and more than we expected. The house was immaculate, the location was great, right in the heart of the town. Jack was very accomodating, full of information about the area. I would highly reccomend this property to anyone interested in visiting Bisbee.

A PERFECT Vacation Home With Character and a Great Host

  • 5 of 5

First of all, skip staying in nearby Tombstone, Bisbee has more charm and character. In our opinion, this is THE best location to stay in Bisbee, period. Located near the historic Copper Queen Hotel, this property is elevated above a city park and is right at the "entrance" to the main area of historic Bisbee.

This property is walkable to everything, the porch offers a great view of all the goings on below and this house is uniquely DISCREET at the same time! A charming home with a history, the guests will require nothing as the gracious hosts have provided all necessary amenities and a very nicely furnished home which is very comfortable and has character.

The owners are Jack and Esperanza. I'll give her credit for lovely decor (and FRESH FLOWERS!). Jack, who has an interesting background, obviously has an eye for detail. This house is well maintained, CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN and has tons of charm. I swear, this house had the cleanest, streak free windows I have ever seen! I only wish this place was closer to home so that I could try to buy it to live in!

I am retired and have the ability to travel often. I can honestly state this is one of the most appealing properties I have ever stayed in. Whether you are travelling as a couple, a family or group of friends (or even solo) I cannot recommend this property and it's owners highly enough if Bisbee/Douglas/Tombstone is your destination.

Now, I must be fair and mention the negatives: On Friday and Saturday evenings you may get band noise from the nearby Copper Queen Hotel outside bar. However, the band quits by 10:00 (in my experience) or earlier. Even so, it remains quiet towards the front of the house and will not interfere with your indoor activities.

You will feel at home here and Jack is available if you need him. He is a friendly man and interesting to talk with, but is not going to bother you during your stay. It is not an understatement to say I would go back to Bisbee if only to enjoy the porch, views, sounds and experience this house offers. It is clean, comfortable and offers the charm and character we seek in a vacation house.

Historic Bisbee is well worth the leisurely and scenic two hour drive from Tucson. There are sites along the way and once in BIsbee you can park the car and relax. Stay in Bisbee at the Copper Queen House and you will leave thinking of your next visit. And is that not the mark of a great vacation?

Clean, comfortable, perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

This is a great house, it’s clean, plenty of space for a large family yet still cozy and comfortable bringing the gathering together. The porch is fantastic for sitting in Am sun or watching it descend in the evening. The best is the location it seems to be in the middle of any thing you might want to do while visiting, ie.. museum, shopping, bars, mine tour. We loved our stay and the hosts are friendly and helpful. What a great place. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit bisbee.

We had an amazing weekend at the Copper Queen Home. The location couldn't have been better (walking distance to everything), the house was clean and spacious, and the hosts went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We will definitely be back!

Last visit to "Old Bisbee" was 50 years ago!

  • 5 of 5

Smaller and different population in 1969, but loved it then and loved returning in 2018! Not sure there is any other place like it in the West. Bisbee's the old mining town that you're searching for if you're looking to step back more than 150 years into the old American West. It seeps of history! Bisbee has authentic architecture, lots of shops, art galleries, and plenty of fine restaurants (not to mention "old saloons"). And if you're not into hiking up and down the picturesque streets, there are other options, including mine tours.

We stayed at Jack and Esperanza Jeffrey's "The Copper Queen House" which is just across the street from the famous Copper Queen Hotel. It's central location allowed us to leave our car and walk the entire town! Owner Jack made sure his son was there to greet us upon arrival and Jack and Esperanza met us on departure. The house is beautifully maintained, and though there were only four of us, the place has enough bedrooms to house a much larger group.

We could only stay for four nights! Wish it could have been longer!

Easily a Five Star Rating!
