Guestbook comments from the owner

We wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful week at your lovely cottage. It is so beautiful and relaxing there. We felt right at home. We were impressed by the stunning view from the balcony when we arrived and we enjoyed every single day. The cottage was clean and had all the amenities. My husband was fascinated by the craftsmanship of the wooden construction. The cottage is decorated with so much love to detail. Just beautiful. We hope to be back one day to enjoy it for one more week. Thank you for letting us stay there.

Just what the Doctor ordered!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your lovely cottage, our only regret was that we couldn't stay another week! The view is outstanding, second to none! We just loved the beach, watching the tide ebb and flow, the lobster boats checking their traps, the loons disappearing under water, the islands dotting the horizon and the peaceful solitude of sitting still and taking it all in.

This charming cottage was perfectly equipped for our needs, very comfortable clean and cozy and love that porthole in the shower! The seclusion it offers, yet close proximity to the quaint Town of Camden was very covenant. There was so much to see and do, we literally hiked and ate at a different locations every day and were never disappointed.

Thank you for being so helpful accommodating Evelyn!

We look forward to our next visit and rest assured I will definitely recommend Penobscot Cottage to my friends!

Thank you and until next year!

Amazing views, great location, and very charming, but be prepared for open floor plan

  • 4 of 5

We LOVED this cottage, and look forward to staying here again someday. The location is a great jumping-off point for exploring the Maine coast, convenient to Camden but totally secluded (great stargazing). The views just can't be beat and we enjoyed walking right down to the beach. If we had more time, we would have done lots of hiking right down the street at Camden Hills State Park. We LOVE the hand-tiled and stone shower with the porthole looking out to the ocean! The open floor plan didn't detract from our enjoyment, but we thought should have been made clearer what that meant. Even though it has two bedrooms, the ceilings are all open to each other and the living area, which means that there is no privacy at all for conversation, watching tv, listening to the radio, etc. - you need to really get along (which we do). The bathroom has a separate ceiling but with no wall insulation that doesn't really add any privacy either. Again, this didn't detract from our stay, just think it shouldn't be a surprise for anyone.

Beautiful Cottage by the Sea

  • 5 of 5

Clean and tidy well equipped cottage overlooking a tidal pool and the ocean. Private location half mile off main road. Its just around the corner from Camden Hills which offers incredible hiking and stunning views. Easy in to Camden for shopping and restaurants.

The cottage is fully equipped for meals at home. The beds are very comfortable. Windows and deck look out to the ocean and islands. The big masted schooners from Camden sail back and forth for your pleasure. This is the perfect spot for total relaxation. Hope you can enjoy it as much as I have, fall 2016.

This was a nightmare.

  • 1 of 5

We booked in February and were paid in full in advance. I had spoken via email directly with the owner and received an email the morning of our week wishing us safe travel. We arrived and the owner's sister had let someone else in even though she knew my name and that we were expected. Saturday night in Maine at the height of summer tourist season with no place to stay is a terrible position to be put into. Homeaway offered no help when we called the customer service line and kept putting us on hold and not returning. No one cared and the last response from the owner was"Thank you for your business" to add insult to injury. The only reason I have any stars for this is because it was required.

Owner's Response: First of all my humble apologies and I would like to thank you for your feedback. Both negative and positive feedback are always welcome. I strive to achieve Customer Satisfaction and tried my best to turned this into a positive experience by responding to this incidence ASAP. Recap of our phone conversations - I offered complementary stay at a similar oceanfront cottage for this time period &/OR a future rental at Penobscot Cottage OR pay for your overnight rental. All offers were refused. I also invested lots of time & phone calls to resolve this with you & thru HomeAway/VRBO. HoweAway/VRBO did reimburse you and you received a complete refund. I’m profusely sorry that this happened and I did care!!! Going forward, in an effort to improve future customer's requests & inquires at Penobscot Cottage, I will be making future improvements to my reservation calendar to ensure that this situation will not happen in the future. Again, Please accept my apologies.

Relaxing Coastal Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We loved our week at the cottage. Close (<2 miles) to the lovely town of Camden but felt a million miles away from everything.

So much to do in Camden and the area. Also, great food of all types. If we come back to Maine, this is the only place we'll look to book.

Cozy bay cottage

  • 5 of 5

If you love the sound of the tides, and the feel of the breezes and peace and quiet, you will love this cottage! It is adorable and has everything you need, including a comfortable deck and screened porch to enjoy the sights and sounds. Plus, there are views of the bay from every room in the home, including the shower. The owner was very nice and provided helpful directions and suggestions. Lots to do in and around Camden/Rockland/Rockport and only an hour's drive to take a ferry to Monhegan Island or see the puffins (at the right time of the year). We also loved Pig & Poet, a nearby restaurant. We will definitely return!
