Austin purchased this Townhouse in 2001
Why Austin chose Northwest Washington
The house is ideal for groups who want to be in a walkable neighborhood, close to metro, near museums, but need parking for one or more vehicles.
What makes this Townhouse unique
More parking available than most downtown locations. You can walk to some trendy spots: Big Bear Cafe, Bistro Bohem, Zenebech Injera, Shaw Tavern, Beau Thai, Right Proper Brewing Co., etc.
100% refund if cancelled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Great DC neighborhood
Great place in a good location.
The place was great. Austin responded immediately to questions. loved the neighborhood. I didn't realize that the third bedroom is accessed through the master, it wasn't an issue for us but it might be for some groups.
Quaint and well equipped home in an adorable neighboorhood
The house was equipped with everything that you need for your stay. Keep in mind that it's an old house so it could use a few updates but the kitchen and one of the upstairs bathroom look to be recently renovated.
I wouldn't exactly call it 'close to everything' but if you're willing to put up a few blisters you can walk to the Metro. Otherwise, Uber/Lyft is the way to go to get to all of the museums quickly.
Austin was gracious enough to let us check in early as we did not have a place to put our luggage. The house easily accommodated our family of five.
Spring break 2019
The fact that the house is in a great historic neighborhood and the proximity to the metro is absolutely phenomenal, made up for the condition of the property, which is desperate need of some attention. The house is much more rundown than it appears to be in pictures: outlets were cracked and loose, there was paper stuffed in a large gap between the door and the outside door jam in the third “bedroom”. The ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms didn’t work. Bathroom outlets were located inside the medicine cabinets, which in itself isn’t such a big deal I suppose but we had to search for them(no instructions). The kitchen isn’t as well stocked as it states, lights under the cabinets were burned out. The Backyard is very overgrown the deck boards were a bit soft and rotten. There was a big wind storm that blew over large chunk of the fence. Clearly this was not something which could be controlled; however, construction workers arrived early one morning to replace the fence and we were not informed that they would be coming.
We had some issues with rodents, owner offered to have an exterminator come. We declined as there were so many access points to the outside where animals could get in we felt the problem was worse than what traps could manage and we didn’t want be exposed to any chemicals. Owner said, “I feel like I should give you a discount.” But he didn’t.
Enjoyed our stay in LeDroit Park...nice area and townhome.
Know what you are getting
I had high hopes for a great visit to DC with my family when I rented this home. There was a nice welcome email sent by Austin with lots of good information. Unfortunately, that positive feeling ended once we arrived. The back parking area was littered with plastic bottles and the stairs were covered with leaves and twigs. Upon entering the house the Kitchen is new, but almost everything else is very old and tired. Ceiling lights are falling out, unpainted upstairs wall, leaking master bath sink, water stained ceilings and 1 smoke detector for the entire house. Finally, the neighborhood where the house is located is nice, but the surrounding area is a bit sketchy. I would not walk alone at night. If you are looking for a party house, this might be the place. If you want a house that is comfortable, up-to-date, clean and close to DC attractions, I would keep looking.
