Overview

About the property

Chalet, 3 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 1 Bath, (Endless Waterheater)

Listen to the creek, watch the wildlife and be only a mile from town. This new home has Australian Cypress hardwood floors, indoor grill, heated by a Tulikivi (A soapstone fireplace from Finland), and cooled by canyon breezes. We lived here for several years and never felt the need for air conditioning. The home was designed to let the cool breezes cool it. However,we also have AC so that no one would feel any discomfort. No detail was left out on this unique layout with beautiful natural wood to create a lodge setting in a compact space. On the main floor there is one master bedroom with a king sized bed. There are two loft bedrooms accessed by a shipman’s ladder each with a queen sized bed and an additional single trundle bed. There is another raised sleeping area behind Japanese Shoji doors that houses a two twin mattresses as well as a carpeted play area. Sleeping for 10 can be easily accommodated in this unique layout. Jacuzzi tub and a home office make this a place to come home and relax after a good day skiing, hiking or biking. The kitchen is fully equipped and the home includes a washer and dryer. Bring a DVD and use our 110 inch Projection screen with surround sound. The canyon road goes for 4-5 more miles and then ends in wilderness area. With the Logan to Jackson bike race and the Top of Utah Marathon both in the valley, this home is passed everyday by athletes who are training in a beautiful setting.

Outside the house is a deluxe private playground with sand box, playhouse, swings slides and an adjustable basketball hoop for any kids who want to join you. There are 10 acres of land to take a walk across the bridges along the creek. We have seen deer (almost every day), raccoons, moose, fox, rabbits, pheasants, owls, and other wildlife that live in harmony with this home. Yet we are one mile from the post office and McDonalds. We have the benefit of quiet seclusion and still close to town. It is like our own private oasis.

We wish to share a dream that we created in a beautiful setting. Our preferred method payment is echeck to keep our expenses down by avoiding credit card fees.

For weekends, we require a two night stay unless the weekend is seven or less days away.

About Tom Worthen

We have our home across the creek and are available for your needs.

Tom Worthen purchased this chalet in 2001

Why Tom Worthen chose Smithfield

It has great privacy and seclusion but within a few minutes of anything the valley has to offer. It is a very unique and open layout that is one of a kind.

What makes this chalet unique

Peace and quiet and being part of nature. But the warmth of the wood inside and the all natural materials such as slate and soapstone, make this very inviting. We even have a hammock swing inside to play on.

Great house with a great host!

  • 5 of 5

This place is absolutely beautiful. It has a beautiful backyard with a pathway and private bridge. The house was super clean and the host was very easy to communicate with and even let us check in a few hours early. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

Away from it all

  • 5 of 5

This was a delightful "bunkhouse" for our family celebrating a recent graduation. A nice king bed for the parents, and more than enough space for kids. It was only a short drive from Logan, but once there we felt like we were totally away from the bustle of town. There's nothing quite like going to sleep to the sound of a creek running just outside. There's a wonderful gravel road nearby that's perfect for long walks and/or bike rides. The kids loved making s'mores in the fire pit. And we all enjoyed the big-screen movie experience. This is really a great place for families.

Not just a place to stay- An experience!

  • 5 of 5

There are a lot of vacation rentals that are just normal homes that are made into a rental. This home was an unique experience that is an architectural gem. For a family or couple that wants to have a getaway, the inside is so much larger than the photos and is a relaxing experience. Love the 110 inch projection screen and over 100 DVDs. Secluded on it own acreage, yet close to town, it is the best of both worlds. Love the creek and bridges. I really felt part of nature.

Relaxing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This nice little cabin nestled in the canyon, surrounded by trees gives you the feeling that you are totally secluded - even though "civilization" is very close by. The soapstone fireplace gives the place a warm cozy atmosphere even after the fire has gone out. My wife and I were celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary and found this gem. Since the cabin is close to Logan, we were able to enjoy the Utah Symphony performing at the U of U, had fun playing miniature golf, and filled up on wonderful restaurants around town, including Tandoori Oven, Herm's-Inn, and Angies. If you get a chance to rent this Canyon Lodge, do it! You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful and Organized!

  • 5 of 5

The leadership from our church held an overnight meeting here. Tom was a great host. He made sure we had everything we needed. The house was great. It had no shortage of character. The highlight is the fireplace. That soapstone radiates heat hours and hours after the fire goes out.

Thanks Tom!
