Luxurious, Secluded and Serene 4- bedroom Lake Home on Two Lakes and 30 Acres

Bedrooms 4
Space sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 6 nights

About the property

Modern lake home, 4 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 13). 30 acres.

Wow! Vacation homes like this don't come around very often. The Lady Slipper Lodge is modern and fully equipped with everything you will need. We are located in the heart of the Chippewa National Forest in north cental Minnesota just 3 1/2 hours north of the Twin Cities. It offers privacy and serenity on a 30-acre woodsy point between a 47' deep 80-acre lake and a 25' deep 60-acre lake. The Lodge is just 90' from the the lakes on both sides with a gradual slope. There is a lake view out of every window and nothing but forest as far as you can see.

The Lodge is the only home on one of the two lakes and it shares the other lake with only one other lake home. All the rest of the land all around both lakes is National Park, state or county land.

Our 30 acres are full of walking trails and the property is close to snowmobile trails and ATV trails as well. You would need to go miles to the north, east or west before you would run into another home. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to for you.

In spring and winter it is advisable to have a 4-wheel drive to handle the 3/4 mile Forest Service road that leads to the Lodge.

Although we know that most young people are responsible, we prefer to rent to families and to groups of experienced adults.

About Tony J Elfelt

Denise and I live in Nowthen, MN, which is a rural community 45 minutes north of Minneapolis. We have three adult children and five grandchildren. Denise runs our auction company called AAA Auction. I am a lawyer, but she lets me take the microphone and work as an auctioneer from time to time too.

Tony J Elfelt purchased this house in 1992

Why Tony J Elfelt chose Minnesota

As a teenager, I camped and fished at Big Winnie quiet a bit. I loved to hunt grouse too and on our trips to Winnie when we drove through the Remer area, I always thought that I would like to have a place where I could hunt grouse and fish right out my back door.

So when I began looking for a property, fishing, hunting and serenity were my main goals. I didn't want close neighbors and I wanted elbow room for kids, dogs, shooting guns and general revelry. I looked for two years before I found this property.

My wife, Denise, allowed me to have my dream when we bought this property in 1992. At that time there was only an old tar paper shack with cracks in the wall that were so big birds could fly in. It was love at first sight. Quiet. Beautiful. Majestic. I could close my eyes and see all of the memories that my family and friends would make in the years to come ---and we did.

What makes this house unique

Although the Lodge is modern and comfortable with many amenities, the comment that we hear most often is how peaceful the Lady Slipper Lodge is. It is truly a rare piece of land. It is the only piece of private property on Lower Milton Lake and when you are there you will see more wildlife than you will other people. Its We cut many trails on our land and if you are more adventuresome, there are many mile of hiking and ATV trails right out the back door that lead deep into the Chippewa National Forest.

While we don't have walleyes or a sandy beach, we do have great panfish, northerns and bass and a very nice beach is located on Little Sand Lake nearby. many people come to this area as well for deer hunting and its superb grouse hunting.

If you like peace and quiet, this is the place for you. You will be more than a mile from the nearest tar road at the end of a 1/2- mile driveway where nearly the only sounds you will hear will be those of nature. You may see another boat on the lake because there is a public access and it is a great fishing lake for sunnies, crappies, bass and northern. However, during the week, there is a good chance that you won't see another person at all. The Lodge was built in 1996. It has 23' high vaulted ceilings in the great room and an open foor plan so people in the kitchen can still be part of the festivities. The walls in the great room are knotty pine for that 'up north' atmosphere and the walls of the 3-season porch are a wonderful aromatic cedar. The Lodge is a 2-story walkout with a deck on 2 sides. The upper level is the main living area with 2 bedrooms with queen-sized beds and walk-in closets. The lower level also has 2 bedrooms with queens.

I got a weekend stay at the ladyslipper lodge for my family for Christmas. Between my parents, my brothers family, and mine we had 9 people. We had more than enough room for everyone. The game room in the basement was great for the middle aged kids as we got to play ping pong and pool and make some noise as the young one slept up stairs. The cabin itself is well maintained, well laid out, and incredibly charming. We went up there with the intention of snowmobile riding however the warm weather did not favor us and the trails that weekend had gotten a bit icy. Please note there are very good trails and many of them in the area. However, we limited our snowmobiling and tried ice fishing where tony had recommended. He was spot on and we had enough luck that we'll be having a second family gathering for a fish fry. This is a great place and I highly recommend it for any number of activities. Thank You Tony.

Very private cabin with all the space and everything we needed for a group of 10.

  • 5 of 5

Booked the cabin for a family snowmobile trip in February. The weather didn't cooperate, so we spent the weekend ice fishing and exploring the area. Despite the curveball the weather threw us, it worked out great. Fishing was good, the kids enjoyed exploring the trails, playing on the lake and playing ping pong.

The cabin had plenty of room for all 10 of us and was furnished with everything we needed for our stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words, Greg. I'm sorry the snow wasn't there for you, but I'm glad you had good luck fishing. You also mentioned you enjoyed exploring. That was one of my favorite things to do for years when I first bought the property in 1992. We would fill up our ATVs with gas and bring along more gas as well and just take off not knowing where exactly we were going. We often got "temporailly disorineted," but never lost. I hope you can come back to more snow another time. Tony

Great family getaway

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for the use of your cabin. We had our family Christmas and it couldn't have gone better. The fishing and ping pong tournaments were a blast! I've rented several VRBO properties in the past and this was the best equipped ever. I was able to call my son and tell him he didn't need to bring any baby furniture, you even had a toilet seat ring! Thank you so much.

Family Christmas Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We celebrated our family Christmas at Lady Slipper Lodge and it was absolutely wonderful! Our party included Grandma, her 3 children, their spouses and 4 grandsons (ages 6, 4, 3 & 2). Everyone had a really great time and nobody wanted to leave. The property is beautiful and very secluded, just as we had hoped for. Lower Milton Lake was even used as a backdrop in an impromptu engagement photo. The only complaint heard was in regard to the unseasonably warm weather. It did put a damper on our ice fishing plans and it seemed a little odd to play corn hole in a t-shirt in the middle of December but still something for our memory books!

The Lodge was fully furnished with everything that we could have ever needed and more. Tony is truly an excellent host/owner. He is prompt to reply to guests, answered any questions that arose and is genuinely interested in making your stay enjoyable.

We will most definitely be celebrating our family Christmas at Lady Slipper Lodge again!

Seclusion At It's Finest!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for relaxation or a place to take the family for a fun time : look no further! My wife and I spent a week enjoying it's comforts. The lodge is very secluded, but actually within minutes of a small town ( in case you need anything!). There's a very good chance you'll see many types of birds, some deer, and other harmless small animals. Boating, hiking, outdoor games : you name it. The lodge itself is amazing and very well kept. Just about everything you'll need is already there. And plenty of movies if you want to be a couch potato... plus the WiFi works very well. If you like fishing, bring your gear. Either from a boat or off the dock is spectacular. Many bluegills and crappies of various sizes : plus a bonus largemouth or northern might surprise you! The Lady Slipper Lodge is one of the nicest places you'll visit, and probably won't want to leave. Tony is an excellent owner and makes sure your stay is a pleasant and memorable one.

Early Spring Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My brother and I stayed for 3 nights in late April. Tony was very quick at answer emails/phone calls, and was a pleasure to deal with! The property is amazing! Loons, muskrats, frogs, and a deer joined us. Swans showed up the day we left. Cabin had everything you could want, and then some! Very relaxing! We didn't realize there was a spot to do a little shooting, but definitely a plus for next time! Trails with spots to sit and enjoy the scenery were everywhere, and I did't get to explore them all. Will definitely be visiting again, this time with fishing gear as well! The driveway/forest road would be very tough to navigate in a smaller car, but by brother's Pilot handled it no problem. Thanks Tony for sharing the cabin!

The Lady Slipper Lodge is on a point, a stone's throw from two lakes. The main attractions are the executive-style home and the serenity provided by our 30- acre point surrounded by miles of Chippewa Forest on all sides. Fishing is great and most of the time you will be able to fish without seeing another soul on the lakes. There are also hundreds of miles of trails open to snowmobilings and ATV's. We also supply with the rental three canoes, two kayaks, two small fishing boats and ar paddle boat. A pontoon with a 40 -horse Merc is also available for $350 for the week. Also, after enjoying the magnificent sunsets, you may choose to visit one of the local taverns for some kareoke and refreshements or travel about 40 minutes from the lodge to a large casino in Walker, Mn.
