About David Edward Thorkildson
As I live 5 minutes driving from the property, I'm always at disposal of the guests for any information or support they may need.
Why David Edward Thorkildson chose Magione
Italy has a green heart : Umbria : in the center of the peninsula, Umbria is crossed by the Apennines sloping into green valleys (the large Tiber valley that goes down to Rome and the sea); sometimes it opens into a Lake (Trasimeno, Piediluco); beautiful waterfalls (Le Marmore) or clear springs (the Clitunno). Its artistic and medieval towns (Perugia with the Etruscan underground city Rocca Paolina, Cortona, Assisi, Spoleto, Gubbio, Todi....) are at a short distance from one another. Throughout the year every town or borgo has its own festival where you can enjoy simple and genuine dishes prepared in the age-old way with typical local products : cheeses, cold cuts, black truffles, meat, fish, olive oil, wines, mineral waters. The interest in art, music, theater, nature, food... has given origin to manifestations of an international scale : the Festival of Two Worlds (Spoleto), Eurochocolate (Perugia), Water Festival (Terni), Umbria Jazz (Perugia) and many others.

Super Townhouse, fabulous location
David and Christine were quick in responding to my questions prior to arrival. The Townhouse is immaculate with lovely views to enjoy. The location is fabulous, loads of good restaurants, nice swims in the lake and cultural visits to nearby Perugia and Assisi. We had a wonderful holiday!
I'm happy you had a wonderful stay. It was nice to meet you.
Hope you keep on enjoying your coffee and hope to see you again.
A great place to stay
The property is superb and has everything you need to make your holiday great. It is very clean, comfortable and has been fitted out very well by David who did the renovations himself.
The location is great, situated above the lake the view from the balconies and garden across the lake is breath taking. The village is very peaceful, but the nearby town which is a ten minute drive away, has all the facilities that you need. And it is only a quick drive to numerous villages around the lake. And if you need to visit the hustle and bustle of Perugia that is about half hour away. Siena is reachable in just over an hour if you want to explore further afield.
I would highly recommend this accommodation, we had a great time and our seven year old son loved the various beaches around the lake and the trip to Isola Maggiore on the ferry.
Thank you Steven for your great review. I'm happy you enjoyed the property and the place. You've been wonderful guests. Hope to see you again !!! Ciao David
Lovely home in great location
I stayed with my two children who were on an exchange program with the local school in Magione.
The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Whilst there were only three of us it is large enough to suit a larger family.
The views are incredible.
Perfect location to see Tuscany and Umbria
A great welcome from the owners, Christine and David, to this beautifully restored village house. It has every amenity and a lovey patio/garden area to enjoy lake views and a glass of location vino.
The bed s very comfortable and there are plenty of extra towels provided. San Savino is a great location from which to visit Perugia, Assisi, Arezzo, Montepulciano with good restaurants nearby in Passegiagno and Panicale.
Can't find anything to fault at all.
Dear Robert & Joyce,
Thank you so much for your nice review. It has been a pleasure to know you. You are very nice, interesting and friendly persons. You took good care of the property and have been the perfect guests.
We hope to see you again.

Lovely home in quiet village
My husband and I recently stayed 8 days in this lovely home in quiet San Savino. It was beautiful and spotlessly clean. Great views and only took minutes to drive to local restaurants etc. We were able to tour many small towns in the area and also visited Cortona and Perugia as day trips. Wonderful to come home to a quiet spot that truly felt like coming home. I would highly recommend this location and host.
Fantastic stay in wonderful house
It is perfectly arranged house. David is pleasant and sympathetic owner. The location is good for both Umbria and south Toscana trips. There are balconies in the house with lake view. San Savino is quiet and lovely village.
