About Mark Ladner

My wife and I have enjoyed living in our vintage 2 flat on the tree lined street in this Lakeview neighborhood for the last 25 years. So many places are is walking distance that we rarely use our car except for work. We have rented our 1st. floor as a short term vacation/temp apartment for the last 9 years and have hosted guests from all over the world to locals relocating or remodeling. We have truly enjoyed hosting guests that have come to explore the city, go to a ball game, a special family occasion or conference that brings them to Chicago.

Mark Ladner purchased this apartment in 1986

Why Mark Ladner chose Chicago

We purchased our 2 flat located in this north side neighborhood almost 25 years ago as a place to live and raise a family. We have never regretted moving to Lakeview. It is a vibrant neighborhood filled with tree lined streets lined with vintage maintained homes and apartments. This is a true Chicago neighborhood. Filled with a healthy mix of young families and singles as well as older long time residents. It is very walk able. There is little reason to need a car. Excellent public transportation to downtown and Lakeview is a very walk able part of town. It has been rated 92% on the walk ability index. Just a great place to experience a Chicago neighborhood.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Great base for exploring the city!

  • 4 of 5

Property had large rooms except for the bedrooms, but that wasn't an issue since we spent very little time in them. And comfortable accommodations for our party of five.

Owner's Response: Robert The Victorians did not design large bedrooms in their Chicago Shotgun style apartments that is for sure. The family / common rooms were what was important to them. We have found that especially for a vacation rental guests, the smaller bedrooms have not been an issue as you found to be true. You guys are welcome back any time! Happy travels to you in the future! Mark Ladner Owner The Ginkgo Leaf

Good overall stay

  • 4 of 5

My family and I stayed here for a few days and enjoyed our time here. House was cleaned and just as described in a nice freindly neigborhood. Parking can be a pain but the owners leave some passes for you. Good food around, bbq in the back. I would stay here again.

Great location and lots of space

  • 5 of 5

Great experience overall! The location oft his place is perfect. Near the brow line, not too far from the Lake and right between Lincoln Park and Lakeview.

The owner is really nice and let us chnGe our check in to an earlier date which really helped us out a lot. The place has tons of space and a backyard to even hang out in. I used to live in Chicago so I'm used to living in the old Victorian style home. It's older and could use some updates but for the price it's great. I would just suggest updating menus offered because some places aren't open anymore.

They have a pack and play and high hair. They offer permit parking in case you have a rental. They have a coffee maker, washer and dryer with soap/dryer sheets, a dishwasher etc. we were walking distance from trader joes and Walgreens and tons of restaurants.

Great place. Only things to pay attention to. Beds are a little smaller than expected. Weren't that bad but fine. Luckily my husband and I fit.

Lakeview/Lincoln Park Vintage Apartment

  • 5 of 5

My family was in Chicago for two Cubs game. We wanted to be within walking distance of the park. It was great - slightly over a mile to park. Our party consisted of five adults, and there was adequate sleeping quarters to accommodate us. We spent very little time in the apartment and did not use the kitchen except to make coffee. We enjoyed the experience of having a home rather than a hotel. The neighborhood is great, and we would stay there again.

This rental was exactly as advertised and the yard was an unexpected treat! The neighborhood was lovely and easy access to the L. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and the apartment was well stocked with bath items and the kitchen had everything that was needed. This was our first VRBO experience and it was delightful.
