About Shawn Wilmoth
I enjoy the challenge of real estate projects, our Gelato Brothers dessert shop, and traveling across Europe. We live near the bunkhouse and take great pride in keeping it in tip top shape for your rental experience. If you like Cherokee Lake, you'll love the Bunkhouse at Cherokee and the privacy we have on our 1.5 acres!
Shawn Wilmoth purchased this Bungalow in 2006
Why Shawn Wilmoth chose Bean Station
We bought this great place as a real estate investment and wanted to remodel the cute little rock covered garage into a living area to enjoy the lake. We designed this bunkhouse similar to efficiency apartments I have seen in Europe. Small but adequate spaces with simple design and style. I hope you enjoy.
What makes this Bungalow unique
It is hard to find a finished space for rental in our area with lake frontage, and top rated living space. Our bookings of repeat visitors seems to go up every year. You can make our place yours anytime you want to come down to Cherokee Lake.

We came down to search for our own STR place to purchase and wanted to experience some local flavor in the VRBO market. The Bunkhouse is as advertised. It is extremely quaint and out of the way and in a beautiful area by Cherokee Lake. We arrived after dark, so because of its location, drive slowly and you'll see a sign that points to the Bunkhouse. Google Maps will get you directly to the property though, so trust your GPS. The code given for the lock worked flawlessly and so we were in with no problem. There was no light on for arrival, but that was our issue as we arrived well after our check in time of 4pm. Because the Bunkhouse is in the country, we did discover a few crickets and other bugs that the pest spray had worked on, but with a sweeping, all was taken care of. The only negative we had with the stay was that it appeared that the cleaners had not been through in a while, so there were things that should have been dusted to remove some cobwebs from the light fixtures and A/C filters that we ended up doing before we could use the A/Cs. We ended up only needing the A/Cs for the first night as the temps began to cool down for the rest of our visit. Now that being said, Shawn immediately responded to some of our concerns and since we are well capable of taking care of small simple things, I would not use this as a discouragement to our stay. The stay was great and we would definitely stay here again. The Lake was really low and so we didn't go down to it, but you cannot argue with the view. If you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, you'll find your ability to do so here. Just be aware that you are about 1 - 1.5 hours away from Sevierville / Pigeon Forge and about 1.75 - 2 hours away from Gatlinburg depending on traffic. We put quite a few miles during our stay traveling back and forth. Shawn, you have a gem here and we really enjoyed our stay. The Bed was comfortable the linens were soft and smelled better than any hotel I've stayed at. I wish you well and do your self a favor and check the Bunkhouse out.
Nice little bunkhouse
The house was cute and fit description. It was overall clean. However, the grass was so tall. I booked last minute though so I'm assuming no one had stayed in a while so they just hadn't saw the need to mow. The view was beautiful. I loved it. I had a great stay. I will warn future guest, beware of the neighbors on both sides. I didn't realize that the access to the dock was directly down the yard so I followed the roads on each side of the bunkhouse to try to get to the dock. Huuuge mistake. The bug Pretty house owners were not horrible but was not nice not friendly about me going on their property. I apologized and they wasn't happy but said ok. Then tried the other little drive way on the other side and the lady that owns that side met me coming back up and absolutely blessed me out. I kept saying sorry, but she did not care. This is not a reflection of the house, but beware of neighbors. Owner should maybe put signs down to dock. Especially with eh grass so tall I was unsure. Also note, that if you plan on using the dock, you should ask about the lake levels, because unfortunately the lake was down so the dock was not in water. Overall, this is a great little house and I had a peaceful relaxing little get away. Oh and I loved having the Netflix on the rainy day and night! Thanks for a great stay! Lastly, the other amazing thing was that I was able to check in early! It worked out perfectly for me! Would stay her again!
Miranda, thanks for your stay! We typically stay on top of the grass, but rainy spells can change that for sure. Sorry to hear about the confusion on the dock access, we'll definitely consider a way to make the path clearer. Hope to have you back sometime!
Cottage on the lake
The property was easy to get in to with personalized code. Two air conditioners cooled the place down quickly. There were plenty of towels, and soap/shampoo already in the shower. The lake view was amazing as well.
Thanks so much for noticing the small things we do to make your stay better. We hope you can come back and see us again soon. Cheers.
We had a good time at the cottage, lake is gorgeous and we caught a couple 18" largemouth bass.
Thank you so much for your stay! Come back and see us again soon!
Week of relaxation
The property was great and has a beautiful setting. Shawn was helpful with any question that we had . Overall a wonderful week. I would recommend the Bunkhouse for any one wanting to a place to get away .
We are so happy you enjoyed our little get-a-way on the lake! We hope to have you back again soon.
We wish you many happy returns.
Overall it was ok
Didnt stay there long but my only suggestion is to get maybe flex hose to re-route the a/c air to not blow at the ceiling. Seemed like the temperature in the bunkhouse would never get cold . But the bunkhouse is nice.
Below is some fishing information from TWRA website regarding the type and quantity of fish in our lake. Fisherman come from Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, (and of course Tennessee) to enjoy fishing in Lake Cherokee. Now you can enjoy this from the comfortable base of the Bunkhouse at Cherokee.
