Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom, 1.5 Bathroom, Sleeps 6

This beautiful cabin nestled in a wooded area on the Little Red River near Pangburn. “Camp David” offer guests a perfect getaway place for personal discovery or recreation. The cabin’s rustic charm blends with its natural surroundings and the location offers a feeling of seclusion yet it is conveniently located to the towns of Pangburn and Heber Springs and their plentiful options for outdoor recreation, unique shopping and dining.

The exterior of the cabin is Cypress with a metal roof (great on rainy days), features two great decks overlooking the river, a screened in porch with a daybed that is ideal for napping or sleeping to the sounds of the outdoors. A rock walkway leads you to your private boat and fishing dock where you can catch trout in your own backyard or just sit and enjoy the river and watch the trout rise and meet the two winged residents that include geese, ducks, kingfishers, bald eagles and great blue heron.

Beautiful Space: The interior is professionally decorated and features beautiful tongue & groove pine throughout; it is extremely comfortable and offers all the conveniences & style of contemporary living. The cabin has 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed. There are 1 ½ baths, an incredible living space with an awesome fireplace. The couch doubles as a pull out queen bed, (couples use it even when they are the only guests to enjoy sleeping by the fire), and the cabin has a small perfectly appointed kitchen and adjoining dining area that seats six. The cabin will accommodate up to 2 couples or a single family. You can sleep seven if you use the pullout sofa & sleeping porch. This place is so cozy and romantic you will not want to leave.

Gateway to the Ozarks: Whether sporting or relaxing this Little Red River getaway is the perfect home base from which to enjoy the River Valley. While known for its world class trout fishing, this cabin is conveniently located at the gateway to the Ozarks, should you desire to venture out for some incredible Arkansas day trips. However, you don’t have to go anywhere; the nearby town of Pangburn (Pop. 601) is 2 minutes away. It has a grocery store; you can rent movies and Pangburn has a few restaurants including Southern Girls BBQ and a pizza and burger joint that delivers to the cabin. Heber Springs & Greers Ferry Lake with its quaint little shops and art galleries is only 15 minutes away. Heber has a hip coffee shop called the Jitterbug Coffee House where you can work the community jigsaw puzzle. The Gem Theater shows current feature films. Heber Springs has lots of dining options.

Local Flavor: We often recommend Café Klazer; located on the bank of the river below Swinging Bridge (Barnett Access) they serve a signature stuffed steak that is famous in these parts! Klazer’s also has a bar (private membership) & often features local musicians to entertain you. Greer’s Ferry Lake is also only 15 minutes away from so if you desire “big water” you can rent a boat or launch yours at Dam Site Marina and spend a day on the lake. At “Camp David” you can read & relax while enjoying the sights and sounds of the wildlife or fish the World Class Trout Waters of the Little Red River in your backyard. Nap on the sleeping porch, sit by the fire or you may venture out and enjoy everything the area has to offer…it’s your time you can do everything or just enjoy doing nothing. If you would like help in planning your trip & to make a reservation please call or email us.

About David Ashmore

Southern boy, fly fisherman that moved to Arkansas from the cement forest of Dallas, Texas to finish college in 1977. I loved the Natural State and made Little Rock my home.

David Ashmore purchased this cabin in 2005

Why David Ashmore chose Arkansas

After years of spending time on the Little Red River and often dreaming 'one of these days I want a place on the Little Red River' one of these days finally arrived when we found the perfect cabin and location for our family.

What makes this cabin unique

Completely charming and romantic cabin with a beautiful fireplace that is a work of art. The cabin is nestled in a canopy of trees on a world class trout stream only an hour and 15 minutes from my house. What else is there?

Guestbook comments from the owner

My husband and I visited Camp David for several nights recently and wished we could have stayed much longer. The cabin is cozy and comfortable, the porches are relaxing and the trout fishing is great! I would highly recommend this wonderful place to stay for anyone wanting to have an enjoyable and pleasant get-away! 5 stars!

I could stay here forever!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our fourth trip to Camp David. Once again, everything was perfect. The early spring scenery was beautiful, yet the evenings were cool enough to enjoy a fire in the incredible stone fireplace. The location is perfect, with local restaurants nearby and shopping just a few miles away in Heber Springs. Thanks, again, David. We'll be back this fall!

Awesome 10th anniversary for a couple of 65 year olds

  • 5 of 5

I've checked this place several times and was hesitant due to the overall price; however my husband gave us a treat for our 10th wedding anniversary. Worth every penny and more. We loved the place. Everything we needed. Awesome place. Camp David should be on everyone's list at least once. We will be back for sure. On a scale of 1-10....I would give it a 20!!'

Absolutely a perfect getaway place to stay

  • 5 of 5

From easy check in, to a well appointed and beautiful cabin. Camp David has everything you need for time away or an unbievable fishing outing. The large covered dock is a short walk from the cabin (not handicapped accessible) and is a great place to watch the sunsets along with the 2 decks on the cabin level that have rocking lounge chairs that everyone can enjoy. Just down the street at a small lake we were lucky enough to find the 100 member family of annual Trumpeter Swans migrants.

Back to the cabin, all is provided for a great meal with large pots pans, plenty of plates and silver wear. Cleaning supplies for a quick clean up and a dish washer with full size stackable washer and dryer to make packing a bit easier. The rock fireplace is perfect and enough wood is provided to keep a hot fire going your entire stay. I think just about everything has been thought of for a rental for short or long term stays for a romantic getaway or a fishing/poker trip with the guys, or girls weekend. We'll be back

The Ultimate Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

Camp David is the Ultimate Vacation Home. We have stayed here several times it is a great cabin on a wonderful spot on the river.

Beside the fantastic fishing, there are no cabins across the river so you feel more private and the view is great.

What I appreciate the most is how well stocked the cabin is. Wonderful beds and mattress- the bedding is first class, thick towels and the kitchen has every pot or pan you will need. It's like home....maybe even better!

Wonderful Thanksgiving Week!

  • 5 of 5

This is our first time staying at the cabin during a holiday week and we loved it! We have stayed at Camp David many times before and it is always very clean and well stocked. The cabin itself is beautiful and is exactly as described. We love the huge wood burning fireplace and there is always plenty of wood available. The cabin is private but close enough to stores and restaurants if you've forgotten something. It is a 'dry' county so if that's important to you, bring it with you. Thanks again, David, for sharing your beautiful cabin!

Everything we expected and more!

  • 5 of 5

Camp David was exactly as described, with too many extras to list! Having stayed in many rental properties, this was by far the most well appointed; truly a home away from home. We were thrilled with the kitchen. Everything is there except the food. The outdoor space was a delight as well, several hours were spent reading on the deck. Great location, good fishing and prompt communication!

Owner's Response: We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Camp David. The late fall and winter are great for some time at the river. The Trumpeter Swans have arrived for their annual visit, the bald eagles are fishing the river behind the cabin and there is nothing like a roaring fire in the Camp David fireplace. We hope you will pay us another visit soon.
