3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths in Safe, Central, Beautiful Location!!

This truly stunning unit is the entire downstairs apartment of this centrally located home in an excellent neighborhood and is truly the perfect spot for Jazz Fest, getting to the French Quarter, the Museum of Art, Cafe Degas and many other great attractions in the city. The fairgrounds are literally in the backyard and the place is a quick drive over to the French Quarter (keep in mind, it's about 5 minutes driving down Esplanade Ave. but walking there, while very enjoyable, is more like 40 minutes or so). There are 3 bedrooms and 2 baths here, a large kitchen (no stove though), a kitchenette area, 2 living rooms, a reading room and a 'decorative' weight room. This listing is for the entire downstairs, about 2200 square feet with a private, separate entrance from the upstairs.

The owner, Bill, in is an interior designer with his own unique and whimsical style (as the pictures might hint at), and staying here in person is really a unique experience. Bill helped me decorate my house (see VRBO #425650) so I'm returning the favor by helping him rent his downstairs out for some additional income to help maintain this historic Arts and Crafts style home in New Orleans.

Please do be aware though that there is a maximum of 6 people in this downstairs unit, and it is very possible that there will be other guests staying in the upstairs apartment. The two apartments have totally separate entrances so privacy would not be an issue, however you might hear some footsteps and occasional voices from the guests above. We always will ask and do our best to make sure that the guests staying in either space will be respectful of noise for others, especially in the evenings. So far though, we haven't had any issues at all. Here is the link to the upstairs apartment if you are interested:

Also, please note that we do not rent out both spaces together to large groups as it can encourage excessive foot traffic throughout the home/ noise in the neighborhood, and it is very important to us that we be respectful to neighbors in the area. I am afraid we cannot make exceptions to this rule.

Thank you for looking at my profile! I've become something of a vacation rental veteran now with a few year's experience hosting guests from around the world under my belt. There are always a few exceptions, but overall it has been a truly wonderful experience, one that's allowed me meet some great people and provide an excellent vacation for the many friends and families who have come to stay in this great city.

About me: as an avid traveler myself, I am keenly aware of some of the difficulties of getting a nice place that is as advertised, in a good location, with a host who is dependable and who can help you answer many of the questions involved in trip planning. I can share a lot of my travel experiences as well as my expertise on this great city I grew up in, and as such I have plenty to share if interested. Some of my interests include reading, art, health, cooking and as mentioned, meeting new people.

For a living, I work in real estate but I have done a little of everything from medical interpreting and painting to landscaping and interior design. Perfect New Orleans Spot

First time in New Orleans and I'm so glad we stayed here! The location is great and Mike's house was decorated with sculptures, paintings, and interesting furniture. We walked to City Park and checked out the Sculpture Garden and got beignets and cafe au lait at Morning Call. A Lyft to French Quarters and Bourbon St. is only 10 mins away. Mike is very prompt in responding to all my text messages. Will definitely stay here again! Thanks for everything Mike!

Quirky home

The home was so weird and quirky..: in a good way. We really enjoyed our stay. The manager was super nice and gave us a late checkout, which was amazing. Lots of charm in the house (and a little creepy, which was fun lol)

An eclectic wonderful home. Perfect for my family spring break enjoying New Orleans at its best.

Our stay for a week was awesome. My two girls on spring break, my daughters boyfriend, my sister, my friend from Washington and my boyfriend (who is from New Orleans but lives in St. Louis). The house was perfect for us all. The layout and all the beautiful artwork throughout was a delight. Every place you look there is an unusual and interesting display of a wonderful imagination. My sister and my daughter are artists and I knew they would enjoy the house. Thank you so much Mike for your friendly welcome and attentiveness to any minor issue we had, The streetcar is a few blocks away. There are several lovely restaurants within walking distance and the grocery store are great. We will definitely be back.

Love the area!

Beautiful home and very clean! We enjoyed our stay here and will definitely come back. The owner was very nice and responds back quickly. The neighborhood is gorgeous and very convenient to the French Quarter. We used Uber a few nights. Round trip to the French Quarter was about $16.00, which isn't bad at all. Parking in front of the house was never an issue.

Unusual Home

Very Artistic and unusual home, but with all the artifacts, it's obviously a very difficult house to clean. If you're allergic to dust, I would pass on this one.

Also, In the future, we would stay closer to the French Qtr. We spent all our money on Ubers and Taxis and it takes 20 minutes to get into the French Qtr not 5 as advertised. The street car was fun, but it took over an hour to ride it all the way down to the river front.

Beautiful park though, right near by, and we loved the neighborhood but we'll stay downtown next time.

Owner's Response: Thanks for letting me know about this (and of course for staying here), and I'm sorry to hear that the home did not meet your expectations. Last thing I want to do is to advertise falsely or in a misleading manner, but I would like to address some of the concerns mentioned. This is an older home built around 1900, but we have always done our best to maintain and stay on top of it, and do we have a professional cleaning service to help; this is the first I have heard of guests having dust issues. However, if somebody is allergic to dust, with all the artwork and high ceilings, perhaps this may not be the best place (although I can't think of any older home in New Orleans that would really be a good fit for this, besides a hotel perhaps). I will be sure to tell the cleaners to pay more attention to this though and appreciate the heads up. As for rides, there has been some construction with the installation of a new street car line, and this might be why it took so long (or taxi drivers who didn't know where they were going?) but as of a year ago, I used to work in the French Quarter and the ride was very a quick shot down Esplanade Avenue (it's very true about the Street Cars though, they can be pretty slow, and if you're going to the Aquarium side of the French Quarter it can definitely take longer with traffic). Also, Uber typically costs about $8 to $9 or so each way to the French Quarter unless there is surge pricing; split between a typical group of 4 is just over $2 per person, which in my opinion is more than reasonable and less than public transportation in most parts of the country. Anyways, I do want to thank you again for staying here and for the honest review. I hope you find your next stay in NOLA to be more in line with what you were looking for:)

This is a beautiful home in a wonderful neighborhood.

This was a wonderful experience for our family. We were givien a welcome packet that gave us everything we needed to know prior to our arrival. We loved the area. Walking distance to restaurants, grocery store and trolley stop. The house is beautiful and we enjoyed all the art that decorated every room. Keep in mind that this is a very old house and some of the plumbing is in need of updating but it didn't take away from the enjoyment of our stay. We felt very much at home. I would highly recommend renting this home and if we ever make it back to New Orleans I will stay here again.

This great location is one of its top draws - the French Quarter is just seven minutes away by car, and the Street Car, Museum of Art, Sculpture Garden and Botanical Gardens are all just three blocks away. There are also some great bars and cafes within easy walking distance, and on the way, you'll pass some of the stunningly beautiful hundred year-old mansions that this unique city has to offer.
