About this property

The 'Wicked Cute' Camp – on Norton Pond Near Camden & the Coast of Maine

(Renovated for 2018 - Check Out Our Updated Pictures!)

Come to the mid-coast of Maine and step away from your everyday routine. Put your ‘indoor’ life aside while you relax and breathe-in the beauty and tranquility of Maine, out of doors.

This classic, ‘Wicked Cute,’ Maine camp is the perfect get-away to refresh your spirit. Simple and cozy, it provides just what you need – a worry free departure from the hustle and bustle.

But there is more to this camp than just the cabin. This vacation also has you living on a lake with your own private dock! Step outside and take in what Norton Pond has to offer – swimming, boating, canoeing, fishing, tanning, napping, relaxing. The adventures are yours for the making.

And your water adventures are not limited to Norton Pond. A waterway connects Norton Pond to the majestic Lake Megunticook, another premier Maine natural resource.

Should you decide to venture from the camp, you will find you are only minutes away from unique Maine attractions including the fabulous Maine coast and its many harbor towns. Camden, one of the most popular Maine coastal villages is only 10 minutes away. Besides the parks, views, dining, and shopping Camden offers, the city also grants you easy access to supplies such as groceries, fuel, etc.

There are also two convenience stores nearby for essentials. Drakes Corner Store happens to carry what the locals consider the best pizza around! (And your hosts consider their breakfast sandwiches and hamburgers the best anywhere!). And The Lincolnville General Store offers another level of food and drink, including a hot lunch bar and baked goods.

Whether you are on your own, with your significant other, some friends, or with a couple kids in tow, this ‘wicked cute’ camp will be good for anything that might be ailing you. Come experience it!

Additional Information:

Sleeping Arrangements? There is one bedroom with a Queen-size bed on the first floor. Two twin beds are upstairs in the loft.

Bathroom? There is one bathroom with a sink, toilet, and hot water shower.

Bringing A Boat? There is a public boat launch on Norton Pond and your boat can be moored at your private dock. (Water skiing, tubing etc are allowed. However no single passenger powered vehicles are allowed such as Jet Skis). There is room to stow your boat trailer at the camp. (Please always check your boat carefully when moving it for any traces of plant life. Invasive plants are a danger to Maine's many wonderful bodies of water. Norton Pond's beauty depends on your diligence in this regard).

Bringing Bikes? The roads around Norton Pond are a combination of paved and gravel with very little traffic so the kids have some great options. The roads further out are standard, two-lane country roads – better reserved for the biking enthusiast.

Exercise? Relaxing is a great form of exercise for those of us needing to get away. But if you also want to get physical while you are at the camp swimming is an obvious choice. Running/Jogging/Walking is also an option. Roads around the Pond are low traffic and scenic – very much outdoors! And country roads further out will give you all the long distances you could want.

Pets? Pets are welcome (see our policy in the rental agreement). We do expect you to clean up after them though. This includes picking up anything they leave behind – whether on our property or on that of your neighbors on the Pond.

Things To Do? (Get ready - It's a long list!)
Enjoy birding, swimming, mountain climbing, hiking, beach walks, clamming, sight seeing, nature walks, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, biking, windjammer cruises and day sailing on schooners, golf, whale watch cruises, museums, shops, restaurants, galleries, wineries, concerts, art shows, auctions, island hopping, farmers markets. . . And this is only what we have come up with so far. . . .

Also:
Acadia National Park (1 1/4 hrs north)
L.L. Bean & Outlet shopping (1 1/2 hrs south)
Lobster Festival, Blues Festival, Windjammer Weekend,
Boat Shows
Sandy Lincolnville Beach, Lobster Pound and ferry to Islesboro (5 miles east to the coast)

PS - Do you like our photos? The best ones are by Rob Dubois.

PPS - We continue to tweak furniture and amenities at The Wicked Cute Camp based on feedback to make your experience better. Because of this you may notice changes from the pictures. Please contact us if you have specific questions about anything.

PPPS - When you arrive you may notice that The Wicked Cute Camp has two web cams (cameras) mounted on the outside of the cabin. These are the only web cams we installed. One is pointed toward the driveway. The other is pointed out toward the pond. We primarily use them during the off season so we know if anyone has pulled into the driveway and to give us a glimpse of Maine when we are not there. We make it a point to not respond to any notifications we receive when guests are at the camp. The only exception to that might be to verify arrival and departures (of guests and cleaning crews) on Saturdays. If you have any questions about our web cams feel free to reach out to us. Your privacy and ability to relax while at The Wicked Cute Camp is very important to us.

Small cabin, Large & wonderful vacation
The Wicked Cute Cabin may be small ( and cute! ), but it is huge in relaxation and for enjoying Maine. Nearby in Camden there are so many things to do like hike or drive to the top of Mt. Battie, get to Uncle Willie's Candy Shoppe, and many other sights to see in this park and walk town. A little further afield is the Penobscot Bay Bridge which has an elevator to the top enclosed viewing areas and Ft. Knox ( the other Fort Knox ) where you can wander around to your heart's content. All-in-all, a delightfully relaxing week at a well-equipped and comfortable rustic cabin with modern amenities. Would recommend this property for young families or for older folks since it’s just steps from parking to cabin and access is via steps with sturdy railings. Overall, it was clean and welcoming and very comfortable. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Great cute well done cottage
Very nice cute little cottage A lot of work done to make a great cabin new windows shower electrical and plumbing Floors are gorgeous Kitchen well equipped Bedroom very nice and comfortable Loft is cute and nice Good dock and outdoor area Good thing there’s two entrances to the cottage as the one with steps is treacherous because of the small tight landing and would be much better expanded Location is good to explore Camden and other sea side towns

Best vacation ever!
The wicked cute camp exceeded all expectations. It’s always a bit of a gamble booking a place you haven’t seen for a whole week, but our only regret is we didn’t book for longer! It was so hard to leave. If it sounds like it is your kind of vacation, I strongly recommend this camp. Norton pond is bigger than the ‘lake’ we have here, and the lake it connects to is enormous. They don’t have kayaks for you, but their recommendation for where to rent was perfect – they even deliver. The small touches really put everything over the top. We had brought our own Yahtzee game and they even had that already there! It’s so thoughtfully put together you can’t help but want to take care of it. Don’t forget to water the flowers – there’s a super cute poem about that above the sink. The stars are amazing, the neighbors couldn’t be nicer, their recommendations for where to go are all spot on. Everything was so easy to find and seriously wicked cute! Don’t forget to sign the guestbook! The caterpillars will be gone soon, so beware of those. They even provided sheets specifically for our dog 😊. It might be a little tight if you have a large dog but was perfect for us. The yard is smaller than we thought, but The cell phone service is pretty bad, but if you go out by the picnic table/fire pit area you can usually get a text message to go through. Well built, beautiful, peaceful.

About the host

Hosted by John Zacharias

Host profile image
Your hosts are John & Susie Zacharias. (The picture shows us outside The Wicked Cute Camp - before our 2018 Renovation).

We currently live outside of Maine - in beautiful western Michigan. But we have fallen in love with the mid-coast of Maine and we are excited to share it with you via The Wicked Cute Camp.

Why they chose this property

While our childhoods were spent in Michigan - near Lake Huron and the St. Clair River - our more recent experiences together have been here in Maine. Maine's climate is similar to that of our hometowns so in many ways the mid-coast reminds us of 'home.'

As adults we have shared vacations here in Maine, reunions, and most recently a family wedding. With each visit Maine becomes more endearing. So endearing, in fact, that in 2010 when we had the opportunity to own a camp on Norton Pond we jumped at it.

This patch of land here in the 'mid-coast' of Maine lets you feel like you are getting away while still having so many things to do. Whether you want to be alone, be part of a crowd, or a little bit of both - you will reconnect with yourself, and each other, here at The Wicked Cute Camp.

What makes this property unique

Many of us at Norton Pond have our routines.

It may be waking up early and taking a fresh cup of coffee out to the dock to watch the day begin.

It may be putting on some cross trainers and taking a brisk walk to get the blood flowing.

You may see one of our neighbors take a daily swim - a routine she enjoys every day she is at Norton Pond, regardless of the temperature or time of year!

There are so many wonderful choices. . . What will your Norton Pond routine be? Whatever it is, be prepared to have it relax, refresh, and re-energize you!
