About Lori Kuykendall

Left the rat race of the City to slow down and enjoy life. This is my permanent home and I chose to share it with others. If you haven't forgotten how to relax, come for a visit. You will leave refreshed.

Why Lori Kuykendall chose Arkansas

This was 'the place' the first moment I pulled into the driveway. Having searched for several years for the perfect place and found it here. Nestled in the Ouachita National Forest with Caddo River frontage and a peacefulness that is hard to express. The old growth trees, fresh air and crystal clear running water of the Caddo are beautiful and provide mega doses of positive energy.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Happy Trails to my new Cajun friends! Thanks for the friendship and ridiculous eats. Be safe on your bikes. Best of health to ya'll and your families.

Beautiful Cabin in a Relaxing Setting

  • 5 of 5

The log cabin was beautiful! The pictures do not do it justice actually. The rustic and eclectic decor was very interesting and captivating. The river scene outside the cabin is pretty and peaceful. We could hear the gurgling water while sitting on the porch eating our meals cooked on the great professional grill. The hot tub was very nice and relaxing. Everything was SUPER clean and well maintained, probably the best of any rental property or hotel I've every stayed in. The owner put lots of personal touches into the cabin and the supplies stocked in it. We had everything we needed! The owner does live onsite, and as stated in the description, her home and the two rentals are located together. This property does not offer seclusion, but it does offer a very relaxing, pleasant get away from the rush of city life! There was no cell service, and very limited Wifi, but that was actually for the best! We truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a getaway!

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying, you were great guests. For future guests Verizon is the major carrier in this area. There is a landline available for emergencies. WiFi can be limited due to the metal roof and ceiling. Come to unwind and relax!!

We love this little cabin. My sister, brother-in-law, my husband, and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay this past week. The listed description was very accurate, plus very well maintained. We have never stayed anywhere any nicer and more inviting. We enjoyed the cabins comfort so much that we never left the property during our 5-day stay other than to build a fire in the fire pit, play a game of horseshoes, or to wade in the crystal clear water of the Caddo River below the property. We will definitely consider returning in the near future. I love the owner's taste in cabin décor, and her key to specific items needed to make any guest feel right at home. The owner was easy to communicate with prior to our arrival, and greeted us with a warm and friendly approach once we arrived! Pam & Carl Ray

Beautiful - One of my favorite places to vacation

  • 5 of 5

My favorite place in the world to vacation is a cabin in the woods with water running through it. Side of a mountain. Very nice cabin with all the conveniences. Very clean and with everything you need. Everything feels new and well cared for. If you bring food - bring everything you need. We forgot salt and pepper. Thank Lori!

Just what I needed!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cabin in a beautiful setting with everything you need to enjoy and relax. Stayed four days and didn't want to leave. The river was shallow enough for children's safety but also had deep pools for the adults. The cabin was very clean and furnished with everything you would need except food and drink. Spent most of my time relaxing in the nice hot tub on the porch with a view of the river. We are decent people and dont get in public hot tubs naked and we know how to turn them down so we had no problems at all with the hot tub. There is a grill on the porch that any outdoor cook would love to have and we made use of it every evening to prepare our supper. Beds were very comfortable with nice linens and covers. Things were quiet and peaceful even with visitors in the other cabin. The owner was available when you needed her and very nice but did not intrude upon our privacy. They even provide fire wood for our fires, who else does that? Well worth the money and will definitely go back.

Secluded? You can see and hear traffic from Front Porch of cabin. Privacy? owner's cabin is less than 30 feet away so close it is recommended you wear swimsuit when using hot tub. The hot tub runs all night( self cleaning?) Very noisy. View from porch includes large metal building and piles of Limbs and trash and Fallen trees. Clean? Mold on refrigerator door most plates still dirty with dried food. Canoeing in 4 inches of water really?

Owner's Response: Sorry to hear my guests were disappointed. The property is not advertised as "secluded", my listing states I live on the property and have a second rental unit. I always make myself clear when speaking to guests. The property advertises it is near canoe outfitters, crystal mines, and Lake Ouachita. Mother Nature delivered a flood recently and unfortunately the property sustained damage. I am waiting for EPA permits to remove the fallen trees. I apologized upon check-in, it is an issue not quickly rectified. The cleaning issues are unfortunate and were missed during inspection. I would have gladly taken care of the issues had I known. I believe the 5 star ratings are a more accurate assessment of the property.

We had a great 4th of July there! Enjoyed the cabin & Caddo river..don't forget your water shoes!! Great area to take day trips to Hot Springs..Fried Bologna panini, bleu cheese potato salad & spring water made root beer at Superior Bathhouse Brewery a must! Take the gorgeous drive through Talimena Scenic Dr..Kids would love riding the train at Queen Wilhelmina St Park..bring your walking shoes to hike on nice trails..beautiful sights on top of mountain..St Parks in AK are FREE, unless you camp! Spend a day swimming at Little MO Falls & Albert Pike Park..just beautiful.."local roads" are easy to get lost on! So note where you turn..entry is just across street from the cabin..just the drive is an way dirt/gravel road! We also rented a pontoon boat on Lake Catherine for a day! The State Parks rent boats/kayaks for a great price so check them out!! SO MUCH FUN!! We will be back!!
