Cute property with lots of character. Great spot for a weekend away!

Our family had a great weekend away. We loved the property and would definitely come again. They even brought us fresh tomatoes from their garden!

A beautiful inn set in a wonderful outdoor setting.

  • 5 of 5

A family of 7 (adults, all over 40) and we totally enjoyed this country setting. The inn had everything needed for anyone on vacation. If you love city life this is not the place to stay. But if you like to get up early to walk under thousands of stars, this is the place. Yes, you will have to drive a ways to get to a restaurant but the drive is easy with very little traffic and wonderful hills, valleys, farms, livestock, and wildlife. Or you can stay in (bring food) all the pots, pans, place settings, coffee pots, and microwave are there to use. We spent 8 days and enjoyed every minute. Visited lots of tourist sites in Wisconsin, totally enjoying the whole stay and trip. (Ohio resident)

Girl's trip

  • 5 of 5

Had a fantastic time. Bear Valley was everything we hoped it would be. Bill, Beverly, and Darcy were so nice----couldn't have asked for better hosts. The unit was wonderful, quiet, and very relaxing. Wonderful views of the valleys----only wish we had been here a couple of weeks later when the fall colors were out----must be absolutely beautiful. Lots to do in the area also. Oh, and the dogs were great!! Thank you for letting us share your great property. We will be back!

Lovely, quiet getaway with the comforts of home

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Bear Valley Outdoor Inn! It is very peaceful and comfortable. There are two units, one smaller and one larger, and both are very nice, with great kitchens that you can cook a real meal in and sit at a good-sized table, which is important, as there are not many eateries in close proximity. The property is about 25 minutes away from American Players Theatre, on good roads. The owners are very friendly and helpful and there are a couple of sweet dogs on the grounds. There is no cell service at the property without a bit of a walk or short drive to a nearby intersection, which was exactly what we needed to escape our hectic lives. We came home from our week at Bear Valley wonderfully rested and rejuvenated!

Peaceful and Relaxing Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Great hiking, excellent nature views, and so quiet! We had a girls' weekend at Bear Valley Inn and enjoyed the experience. Bill and his family were extremely hospitable and gave great recommendations for outings. They even brought us some of their fresh vegetables grown on the property! There were seven of us so we rented both units and had ample space to cook, sit around and talk, and enjoy all the outdoorsy decorations and details of the property.

A few notes: Make sure you really study the map on how to find the Inn! There is truly no cell service in the area and arriving late at night in the fog proved to be a bit of a challenge for us (not their fault). It is definitely a positive thing that it is so dark out there, but just make sure you know where you are going beforehand! There are no grocery stores nearby, so you may want to stop before you arrive.

Also, all of the beds in the units proved to be satisfactory. Some of the frames seemed older though and were rather squeaky. Not everyone had the best nights of sleep, but we were all pretty tired and it worked out fine.

Lastly, the shower in the Pine Unit does have a very low ceiling. It still works great, but something to keep in mind is that if you're over 5'10", you won't be able to stand up straight inside.

Overall, this is an excellent place to get away from it all and cross paths with genuinely friendly people.

Great getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

This place is fantastic! Bill and Darcy were great to work with, and the property is better than it describes. I could go on and on, but then the place would get so busy, we might not be able to book it again!! For anyone who loves the outdoors, peace and quiet, and R&R, then this is the place for you.

We are located in the heart of beautiful Bear Valley and the confluence of five scenic drainage's. 750 acres of public land lay to the south. The remaining boundaries are surrounded by a privately owned wildlife refuge.

We are centrally located within a half hour of some of the most popular attractions of Southwest WI as well as some unique and tranquil settings within minutes.

Some of the activities that can be enjoyed from our front door are hunting, fishing, biking, motorcycling, snowmobiling, bird and wildlife watching, or just relaxing around one of our camp fires.

Also popular is the quality trout fishing available within walking distance. Trout fishing continues to get better as Bear Creek is currently under a stream bank improvement and trout habitat project.

The Outdoor Inn is popular with deer and turkey hunters as we offer a game cleaning facility including a hoist and walk in cooler.

Bill is a lifetime resident of the area, and as a bird and wildlife enthusiast, he can acquaint you with the numerous activities you might wish to enjoy.

To provide peace and serenity to our wildlife, we are a DRONE FREE ZONE.

We are a short drive from American Players Theatre, Governor Dodge State Park, Oakwood Fruit Farm, Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor’s Center, The Springs Golf Resort, Natural Bridge State Park, Our Lady of the Fields Chapel, Taliesin, Plain Westbrook Hills Golf Course, White Mound Park, Rockbridge, Hillside School, Tower Hill State Park, Hyde Mill, Unity Chapel, House on the Rock, Cedar Grove Cheese Co, Wisconsin Dells, and many other interesting tourist attractions.
