About Dan Sullivan

We have lived here full time and part time for many years. Love all four seasons. The property was the original homestead in Curtis Hollow in around 1780. We were able to preserve the orginal post and beam homestead {now the fireplace/dining room} Lots of history and good feelings abound. We love the rural setting with hikes to the waterfall, spring, top of Baldy yet minutes {we are about halfway between Woodstock and Killington} to great restaurants, shopping skiing, golf etc.

Dan Sullivan purchased this farmhouse in 1976

Why Dan Sullivan chose Eastern Vermont

Great history and spiritual sense of the property, open fields ancient grave site, spiritual garden, very quiet, with babbling brook and waterfall and miles of hiking trails. The house is very comfortable but made for a family to live in.There are lots of nooks and crannies for some quiet time but also great, warm open spaces to enjoys a group or family. We try to accommodate your needs and do wish that your stay be memorable.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The land is beautiful and we have worked hard to fill the lawns with gardens and quiet sitting areas. The home is owner designed with many separate levels for privacy and many large round windows for lots of light. The spiritual garden with stone labyrinth is special for us. And yes, we built the labyrinth ourselves.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Your farm has been a glorious place to watch fall come to Vermont. WE have hiked in your woods played a fair amount of tennis and watched lots of wildlife. We have had fun with your games [bocci, horseshoes, pool, darts, etc]. We are pleased that others could experience the farm too! Several of my brothers and sister in laws and friends have visited and everyone has been impressed with the beauty of your gardens, land and home. We are so pleased that others could share our wonderful experience!

Beautiful house and property

  • 5 of 5

We've had the pleasure of staying in Dan's home in both the summer and winter and it's just beautiful! The kitchen is enormous and well stocked with all kinds of cooking equipment. Lots of counter space and two dishwashers make it a great space for preparing meals, and there are several indoor and outdoor dining areas. Multiple bedrooms offer views of the surrounding fields and woods and offer privacy for guests. Dan has always been a gracious and welcoming host. Asks him about this history of the house and property! If you're looking for a quiet and spacious place to get away, this is the rental for you! We will be back this summer.

Owner's Response: dear Liza think you for the very nice review. I look forward to the return of your group soon. there are many things to do at the farm--something in every season ----well April is a test of ingenuity--but the rest of the year there is something for just about everyone to do and enjoy even if it is just relaxing by the fire or out on the rear deck looking down on the fields and surrounding hills Best Dan

Fantastic meeting spot for our college reunion!

  • 5 of 5

7 couples stayed very comfortably in this house! We all kept commenting on how much we DIDN'T feel crammed being in the house. We cooked several meals, used both fireplace rooms, the fire pit, the game room, and a couple of people took a hike the waterfall. We had a couple of minor things happen while we were there and Dan was right next door and came over as soon as we called. Our group split up one day and half of us took a trip to downtown Woodstock and the Artisans Park in Windsor. The other half of the group went a little further away to the Ben and Jerry's factory tour. We skied/snowboarded/tubed on day at Okemo. It was a wonderful trip and many of us can't wait to return in the spring to do hiking!

Owner's Response: Dear Amy sounds like you all were very busy during your stay--there are many things to do both at the farm and in the surrounding area and your group certainly hit some of my favorites. Look forward to your return--after the snow melts there is lots to do outside--hiking,tennis,golf, biking and just to say you really were in Vermont you can play some horseshoes on the regulation horse shoe pits. thanks for such a kind review best dan

Beautiful, spacious, comfortable farmhouse - great for a group!

  • 5 of 5

I hosted a get-away weekend for 10+ ladies in February at Curtis Hollow Farm. My mom, my sisters, our friends...everyone raved about this beautiful home. It was plenty big enough for all of us and very comfortable.

We enjoyed cooking dinner in the gourmet kitchen, drinking wine by the fireplace, and relaxing in this lovely home. The house is private without being isolated but also a short 10 minute drive to downtown Woodstock. While we enjoyed the time away from our busy everyday lives, we were happy to find there was internet access, Netflix, and cable television!

The owner, Dan, was wonderful to communicate and plan with. He was responsive and kind. It's clear he takes great pride in his home. We look forward to a return visit in the future.

Thank you!

Owner's Response: Dear Erin thank you for the wonderful review--you are correct that I am proud of Curtis Hollow Farm and try to ensure that each guest has a special time while stating there. since it is also a second home to my family I think of my guests not as customers but friends I have not yet met. Please return-- there is something new and different about the farm in every season. Best wishes Dan

Highly recommended! Second time stay for yearly ski trip.

  • 5 of 5

Just finished our second stay at this property, and I very highly recommend it. For the past two years we've selected this house for our yearly big ski-weekend getaway (10-15min from closest Killington lift, 35min from Okemo). It is a large house that feels more like a home, very spacious and picturesque property (many hiking trails). Excellent amenities, many comfortable bedrooms, many bathrooms, and perfect for large groups especially if you're into cooking as we are (very large kitchen, dual sinks!). Dan the owner is great to work with, very responsive and very accommodating of our requests.

Owner's Response: Dear Jon it was great to have your group back-sorry to have missed the chili dinner but i did not see the text message to me in time. Glad you all had a great time--I look forward to seeing you guys again next year--but why not try a get-away in the spring or fall there is lots to do both at the farm and in the surrounding area. best dan

Owner's Response: Thank you for the very kind review of your stay at Curtis Hollow. The farm is the site of the original homestead in Curtis Hollow Vermont-in fact,we were able to restore the original post and beam house of the first settler in the hollow-it now serves as the fireplace room off of the main living area. It is a great, cozy spot to have a fire, read a book or gather together for a dinner prepared in our gourmet kitchen. There was a reason the first settler picked this spot--it has a special place in the hollow with a running brook, large open fields, and lots of privacy since it is set far off the main road. come back in another season and enjoy the change of seasons

We will be back!

  • 5 of 5

This house could not have been any more perfect for my family's trip to Woodstock. The location is perfect. Every single person on the trip commented on how this was probably the best rental house they have stayed at. The layout is super accommodating for large groups. Dan, the owner, is wonderful to work with. I can not say enough great things about our stay. We hope to be back once the snow melts to explore the property more.

Owner's Response: Hi thanks for the very warm review -- I wish you could have stayed longer,at least more time on Sunday to get to know the property better. winter is a great time with the skiing at Killington, Okemo and Suicide Six ---not to mention cross country skiing, hiking, and snow-shoeing on the miles of trails on our land but spring ,summer and fall all bring new things to do and experience at the farm even for the little fellows and gals with a bubbling brook ,fields filled with wildflowers,a waterfall, and lots of lawn games, tennis, horseshoes, bocci. Please come back and enjoy another season. best dan
