Topsail Island is a destination, featuring both the Atlantic, and the Intracoastal Waterway. Fishing, wildlife viewing, kayaking, jet skiing, parasurfing, golf, miniature golf, bicycling and deep sea fishing......I'm sure I've left out something. Very much a family resort with friendly people.
Unique Carriage House, Completely Self Contained & Private Included in Rental.
Our family enjoyed staying at your place very much. There was plenty of space for all family members, with the kitchen, eating area as the meeting place. Weather was super all week. It was a week to be long remembered, since our 6 kids, and 13 grandkids are spread out in 5 states [FL, N.J., S.C., Mn., and Ut.] and can't all get together on a regular basis.
Thanks again for the use of your vacation house. Al
This will have been the 5th property I have rented for my immediate family (15-20 attendees) in as many years. Far and away this was the best maintained property we have stayed at, and the array of amenities is really impressive. Being both on the beach, with your own pool and hot tub were really added pluses. Each of the upper floor bedrooms also gets a great view of the sunrise and sunset.
We have people from 4yo to 75yo. There is ample room for everyone to have their own space, but the living room and wrap around patio on the 2nd floor is really the hallmarks of the gathering. Surf City is also just about the right speed, you basically has the beach to yourself if you wanted to build sand castles or even setup a volleyball net.
The detached cottage is great as either a quiet place for an afternoon nap, or the after-hours club for the 20 somethings that seem to want to stay up until dawn.
It was a pleasure to work with Suzanne and this trip came off without a hitch. I can't believe how fast the week went.
This is a wonderful house with just a few negatives. The main reason I am not giving it 5 stars is the poor quality of the single/twin/bunk mattresses. Because of our family configuration, several adults slept in these beds and complained about poor support, springs poking them in the backs, etc. They slept miserably for the entire week. One adult slept on the sofa because it was more comfortable than the beds. This is an very high quality, expensive house, and we expected better in this area.
* no Wifi service in the carriage house or lower floor of main house
* oven door will not stay shut so it stops heating. We had to prop a chair against the door in order to cook dinner.
* One of the best views we've ever had of the ocean!
* Beautiful, well-kept home
* Lots of dishes to serve a large crowd
* Plenty of porches with a variety of views
* We were able to use the upper "crows nest" as a bedroom for two teenage boys
* Several in our party were worried about not being ocean front and having to cross a street to reach the beach. However, traffic was not heavy and we rarely had to wait to cross.
* Beautiful pool. However, it was not clean when we arrived and the pool cleaner did not arrive until Wednesday.
* We loved the ping pong and pool tables! This is a real plus for evening entertainment and on rainy days.
* We had 20 adults and 6 children under the age of three. The "family" rooms were perfect for parents of small children.
In short, we loved this house and hope to return in the future. However, we do wish that the single beds were more comfortable.
We really enjoyed our stay at 99 Oleander Ct. The house is spacious and has wonderful amenities; we really enjoyed the close proximity to the beach, the saltwater pool, hot tub, and ping pong tables. We were a group of 13, so for us, the bedroom configurations were a little odd - we could have used a queen bedroom instead of one with three sets of bunk beds. However, for a larger group, this totally makes sense.
The views from the balconies are beautiful and the proximity to the sound at the end of the neighborhood street is great. Even though the house isn't oceanfront, it's very close and it's pretty easy to bring things on to and home from the beach.
I will say that the kitchen/dining room/living room is a little small given the number of people the house can accommodate. Also, the WiFi does not seem to extend to the guest house, and is weak in some places. It's also good to note that the main house and guest house are not actually connected internally - you have to go outside at some point, though only for a few steps, to travel in between.
Suzanne was wonderful to work with and made renting the property a breeze. I didn't personally get to Topsail, but Surf City is very cute and we really enjoyed the Daily Grind coffee shop and Daddy Mac's, in particular. Don't miss the Surf City farmer's market!
Our family (my husband and I , 6 kids and 17 grandchildren) so look forward to our reunions because we are scattered in 6 different states and getting everyone together doesn't happen easily. I was a little concerned with planning this last get together because we now have lots of teenagers (14) who are a little harder to entertain than the younger children but this house and it's location did it. The beach was so private that we had no worries about them disturbing others as they rode and surfed the huge waves. Then at night we hardly saw them as they kept busy with the pool, the sauna, the ping pong table, and the pool table.
As for the adults the beach was perfect for long walks both day and evening and the house left nothing to be desired ( well equipped kitchen, enough beds for all, and extremely clean). We couldn't get over the fact that even though the house is not "on the beach" when sitting on the decks or even looking out the windows it felt like we were. On the day of departure the term I heard over and over was "Best reunion ever". Thank you Mike and Suzanne for the use of your beautiful home for our family reunion.
It's been a long standing tradition in our family to vacation on Topsail Island during the summer months and over the years our family has come to know it as our "second home". When our eldest daughter decided that she wanted to get married there, we couldn't have been more happy! Our greatest challenge, however, was finding the perfect venue. Without hesitation, we can say that Mike and Suzanne's beach home at 99 Oleander Court was an idyllic spot! Their beautiful and spacious floorplan allowed for us to easily accommodate the bride and groom's immediate family members, provide a wonderful rehearsal dinner venue in the main house as guests flowed out onto the wrap around porches, and, of course, create a beautiful backdrop for the wedding ceremony on the private beach. The wedding reception was held around the pool area. We were able to arrange tables/chairs to comfortably accommodate 70 guests in addition to a dinner buffet and DJ! Immediately following dinner, we broke down 2 tables to allow room for dancing which worked beautifully. The wedding far surpassed our expectations in every way and over and over again we heard from our guests that it was the best wedding they have ever attended! We owe much of the success of the day to Mike and Suzanne who accommodated our every request as we prepared for this event from our home in Maryland! Their gorgeous beach home and gracious hospitality will forever be a special part of our daughter's wonderful wedding memories...
This is the most amazing place to stay on Topsail Island. With my normal crew of 20 close friends...we find ourselfs talking about this vacation home at least once a month. We cannot wait till the next year when it will be time to stay in this gorgeous home again. The rooms are perfectly laid out in addition to everything you may need to include a quick dip in the pool, or a relaxing evening in the hot tub. I would encourage anyone to rent this beautiful home for a vacation never to forget.
