Green Acre is situated 250 feet above sea level and offers a panoramic view of the bay and the Caribbean Sea. The backdrop is the main ridge, approximately 1,800 feet high, and one of the oldest forest reserves in the western hemisphere. Englishman's Bay is a pristine beach that has been ranked in the top 10 beaches in the Caribbean in numerous magazines. It is a great beach setting and also includes excellent reefs on both sides of the bay for swimming and snorkeling. The nearby village of Castara also offers a beautiful beach and swimming and snorkeling area. There are also nice restaurants and local entertainment and cultural events available in Castara.
The cottage sits on a one acre lot in a natural setting. It is an idyllic place to get away from it all.
The interior has been completely up-dated and features cabinetry with beautiful Caribbean cedar. There are also all new appliances and furniture. It is a perfect place for two people to enjoy a relaxing and romantic interlude.
Really enjoyed our stay at the cottage overlooking Englishman's Bay. The property manager was so helpful with everything, the cottage is in a wonderful spot and it was a perfectly relaxing week. Everything was as expected and we were so happy with our choice of accommodation. The Castara area is a great base for exploring what are some of the best beaches anywhere, offering a super combination of great swimming, soft sand and barely another person present. Lots of great food in Castara and easy enough to see most of the island with a car from this location.
We had a wonderful week at Green Acre. The cottage is the perfect size for 2, has a wonderful view and a fantastic deck. There are nice breezes and it's nearly bug free. The kitchen was well equipped and the Jacksons helped us get settled and oriented. All in all a winner.
My wife and I spent a week on Tobago at Green Acre Cottage and had a wonderful time! Bang for the buck with this villa, as well as the close proximity to Englishman's Bay were our main reasons to staunch in this wonderful villa. Very private with a view to die for from the deck. This is not a fancy place, but it is just right for those seeking privacy and an economical abode. Be ready for not having a/c, but between the ceiling fans and the hillside situation with ample breezes, the acclimatization to a tropical climate was quick and easy. We did close and lock the windows when we left for the day, which meant the villa was a bit toasty upon return each day, but who wants to be inside here? Just grab a cold drink, and hit the deck and enjoy the transition to evening. A car is a must. A few critter noises, including dogs, birds and some unknown animals may be heard during the night here, so if one is a light sleeper some white noise may be helpful on occasion. Castara is a short drive away and breakfast and dinner opportunities are to be found there if one is not eating at the villa. The grocery in Castara is rather limited i stock, so be sure to make a grocery stop on the way from the airport. So, spend the day at the wonderful beach at Englishman's Bay, enjoy the excellent snorkeling there, have lunch and cold drinks at Eula's, and you'll discover what Caribbeean relaxation is all about. By the way, scuba diving is spectacular off Tobago's shores. Enjoy!
Clean, neat, no frills and an ideal size for 2 sharing. Timely pick-up from airport by good Manager Dave, with very helpful stop-off at local supermarket to get initial basic provisions before arriving at house for first time. House has a comprehensive file of advice on virtually everything of interest to holiday-makers (e.g. detailed ratings for local restaurants and all main beaches on the island, accurate ratings for off-shore dives etc. etc.) which proved to be a very useful supplement to Dave's initial advice.
Castara is probably the best place/area to stay on the island - locals are extremely friendly and nearby beaches (e.g. Englishman's Bay, Parlatuvier and Little Bay in Castara itself) are arguably the best and/or most easily accessed on the island. Eating out is very affordable/good value for money. Morning and late afternoon views from the house are to die for, made even better by the frequent sightings of 3 types of hummingbird - one pair of which are nesting in clear view above/left of the main deck. Surrounding gardens are well maintained and it is well worth taking at least one walk up the local access road (Miss Mills Trail) for easy access to see wild-life in the lower forest area. Use of hire car is practically essential for the whole of the stay.
My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay in this cottage. The view is absolutely incredible and Castara has lots of nice restaurants that we enjoyed trying out. Englishmans Bay is a beautiful beach, and miraculously uncrowded! Would definitely recommend!
We arrived in the middle of the night and literally woke up in PARADISE. It's exactly as pictured but somehow seeing it in person just took our breath away.
We really enjoyed our stay the villa, spent most of our days driving around the island exploring all the beautiful beaches and towns along the way. We were completely amazed at the facilities at most of the beaches and overall how clean Tobago was compared to other Caribbean islands we've visited.
The Villa is basically a 1 room cabin with a large bathroom attached, a large bright shower. It was fully stocked with extra sheets and loads of towels and some basic supplies for cooking, all the appliances were modern and new. My hubby was quite happy to have such a firm bed for two weeks.
We met some lovely people in Castara and one of the highlights was the fishing tour that we went on with Errol Roach, highly recommended, we caught dozens of fish and had some dolphins come and swim with the boat, truly the best part for me.
We spent most of our evenings dining in Castara and enjoyed wonderful local meals even lucky enough to have caught a few shows with steel drums. We loved Marguarites, Chenno's, Boathouse and Almond tree. We stayed in a few nights to stargaze and cooked fresh fish from the beach from the local fishermen.... The only minor suggestion I have is that it would have been nice to have a BBQ or grill to cook on, we were surprised there wasn't one, but made do.
Overall we loved our stay on the island, and felt safe on our own. The cabin is quite isolated although there are other houses on the hill we hardly ever saw anyone in our two weeks there.
David was fabulous to deal with and we loved that they had a book full of suggestions and advice on things to see in the cabin, they even provided a cell phone for local calls while in Tobago, very thoughtful.
We would definitely recommend and hope to be back one day.
Thanks for sharing your little piece of heaven on earth with us

Looking to get away from the crowds, Green Acre is truly the place to be, overlooking one of the world’s most beautiful beaches, Englishman's bay is a mysteriously uncrowded beach, that is great for swimming and snorkeling.
