Enter through a covered bridge, just off of route 16 to the heart of Jackson and our two bedroom home is located in the center of town. There are two decks over looking the mountains, the Wentworth Golf course, the Wildcat River, the Ellis River, a pond and a park. A few minutes walk to restaurants, pubs, water falls, cross country skiing, hiking and ice skating.
The first floor is an open area with living room, kitchen and a bathroom. The second floor has a master bedroom with a Queen size bed and a kid's bedroom. The underground features a TV and full-size sofa-bed. There is a screened in porch and two open air decks with grill and lawn furniture overlooking rivers and mountains.
We fell in love with the place because of the incredible views, its proximity to the White Mountain National Park, the closest town to the national park and it is one of the only houses in the center of the quaint town of Jackson.
Perfect size for the 3 of us. Nicely furnished and great location.
The home was in a great location, right in the village of Jackson. Simply but charmingly decorated. Everything was neat and clean. Sheets were on the beds, towels in the bathroom and the place was warm when we arrived. It only has one bathroom, but it wasn't really an issue. One parking spot comes with the house, but there's plenty of parking nearby, if visitors come for dinner. Snow shoveling by the front door could have been better, but there was a shovel on the porch, and we did a little shoveling ourselves. It had snowed several feet over the previous week, we know. We would definitely book again!
We arrived at the house and were unable to get inside due to a frozen snow bank left by the town snow plows. (Yes the house is that close to the road). We borrowed a shovel from the neighbors and were able to at least get the door open. We could not remove the snowbank as that would have required a pick axe. For the rest of the weekend we were forced to haul luggage and groceries over the snowbank to get into the house. There was an email sent by the owners that said the person who was to clear the front step suddenly quit. The owners apologized and offered a free extra day which we declined. There was no attempt to find someone else to clear the entrance. The curtains in the bathroom are so sheer that at night people walking by on the sidewalk have a good view of anyone using the shower. I would not recommend this rental.
4 stars for the location, 2 stars for cleanliness. We loved the view from our window, it was close to the places we wanted to visit. they charged us 90$ for cleaning, but i had to wash the bathtub as it was full of hair, bedsheets were not changed...i found breadcrumbs and even a pill organizer in out bed. (good thing we found clean bed sheets in bathroom closet. you can tell that the house wasn't vacuumed in a very long time - stairs have a lot of dust and hair.
house definetely looks better in the pictures ( pics are probably old). You probably can find a better and cleaner deal. I wouldn't choose this house again.
This place is great! It's small but cozy and perfect if you're planning on spending more time outside then in. Parking was limited to 1 spot, though 4 cars could fit (house next door said we only get 1). There is public parking down and across the street.
Beyond that, it's great.
We'll be back.
We had such a great time in Jackson! The house is adorable. It's not big, but it's cozy and was just what our family needed. The view is amazing! We loved going for walks and being able to just walk down the street to The Wildcat for Thanksgiving dinner. Then, that night Santa rode right down the street in a horse drawn carriage! We had everything we needed, the house was clean, and we enjoyed ourselves so much. We will definitely be returning! :)
If you've been around, you may feel that you've seen it all. But, if you've never visited Jackson, NH, then you definitely haven't seen and done it all... yet.
Words, nor pictures, can properly describe this beautiful setting. Our property, located in the center of the town, is surrounded by the 800,000-acre White Mountain National Forest giving you room to golf, hike, mountain bike, rock climb, watch for birds and wildlife, swim in a water fall, downhill ski or glide cross country on groomed or back country trails.
Rather relax? Treat yourself to a massage or a day-spa treatment, stroll to the Jackson Falls for a picnic, surprise your loved one with a world-class candlelight dinner, or pub-crawl through the multiple local pubs with daily live music.
Coming with kids? Perfect! You will be only minutes away from StoryLand Amusement Park, Hartman Model Railroad, Mount Washington Auto-road, and the Conway Scenic Railroad.
So, shrug off that 'been there, done that' feeling and discover a new attitude toward exploring the world. In Jackson you can view it from the top of the mountain, find it next to a rushing river, or see it in your child's eyes. Maybe it's nature's way of telling you life is short and beauty is forever.
