Faith was born and raised in Bermuda. Neil was born in England and moved to Bermuda over 17 years ago. We run three local businesses.
Faith & Neil purchased this apartment in 2012
We bought the house for the view. Forecaster's Cottage was built for the local forecaster. He picked this location for the vast views.
Location and views. Sit out on the porch and watch the boats come in and out of the harbour.
My husband and I stayed at Forecaster Lower for a week in late October. Prices for hotels are very expensive in Bermuda, so we were glad to find this apartment at a more reasonable rate than a hotel.
The apartment consists of 1 bedroom, a kitchen, living room and bathroom. The layout is a bit strange, you have to walk through the bathroom to get to the living room. Not a big deal, but something to know ahead of time. If needed, you could go outside the living room door and into the kitchen door if someone was using the bathroom.
When walking from town, you need to walk along a section of the road without a sidewalk, up a hill , and then up some stairs to get to the unit. We did this many times, and it was not a problem (and we burned some calories), but if you have mobility issues, this is something you should definitely consider.
The television in the living room had many channels to choose from and there were also lots of movies.
The kitchen was well stocked. If you read some of the earlier reviews, there is mention of a coffee machine with coffee and tea pods included. This in no longer the case. There is however a coffee maker and filters, so just bring your own ground coffee from home.
Plenty of towels in the unit, both beach and bath towels. No shampoos (bring your own), but there was hand soap and dish soap for the kitchen.
We were glad to have use of the apartment's mobile phone during our trip. Definitely a nice feature of this rental.
We had a few minor issues in the beginning, but Rosie who works for Faith took care of them immediately.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable week. St. George's is a great town and it's the only place in Bermuda we would want to stay if we returned.
This property hadn't been cleaned for months prior to our arrival. It badly needs redecorating, and serious maintenance carried out. The bed settee in the lounge (no spare mattress) needs replacing, no money in the cell phone, no batteries in the TV remotes, fridge was filthy, shower curtain mouldy, door handles falling off, no lights on the steep steps outside which was dangerous at night, bare wires outside, overgrown garden, no supplies in the laundry room etc etc. I phoned the owner she sent a cleaner within the hour, even she admitted it was a disgrace. We were promised a maintenance man, he never showed up! We didn't receive a refund for the cell phone of $25, in fact we never heard from the Management/owner again. The cottage/apartment doesn't live up to what's advertised, we were very disappointed. On a brighter note, the view was beautiful, St Georges is quaint and full of history, beaches, bars, restaurants all enjoyable, the whole island is beautiful and we will revisit at some stage, but will find better accommodation next time, which is a shame as the apartment has such potential.
Very nice and comfortable stay. Cottage is two flats, we had the bottom one which was well equipped with great views and close to the St George World heritage site. Buses and ferries very close, shops in village include a supermarket, coffee shops and great restaurants. Nearest beach 15 minutes walk. The cottage is up a hill of about 75 metres with some steps to the front door. I would recommend this place to stay for a couple of any age as long as the slight hill is not a problem. The view, a cold beer and a warm evening make the cottage ideal for a comfortable stay.
My husband and I loved staying here and can't wait until we can do it again. Reserving was a breeze and fast friendly responses to any questions. As for the rental itself..it was perfect. Beautiful water view and a quick walk down the hill to shops and great restaurants. Super easy to hop on the pink busses as well. We purchased our transportation pass at the post office and felt like pros in no time! Tobacco Bay beach is an easy 20 minute walk. When we weren't off exploring or eating we enjoyed the outdoor area soaking up the sun and enjoying the view. This rental has everything you need!! Can't wait to stay again!!!!!
Great place. Stacey checked on us on the day we arrived and later bought us item we needed. Saw her around town and she always checked to see if we need anything. Place was great for our 5th anniversary. We went all over Bermuda. Recommend getting bus pass. Bus was great for us and we met the locals. See more that way also.
The apartment is in the town of St. George on a small hill, with an absolutely amazing view of the waters. Its best feature for us was its walk-ability to the town (less than 5 minutes), and a network of back-country paths leading to the famed Tobacco Bay beach and Fort St. Catherine's beach. Also, the paths lead to the Railway Road Trail which we did one afternoon, walking for about 1+ hour one way to the western tip of St. George.
The apartment is very well stocked with everything you would need for your stay, recently updated mostly from IKEA, and serves well for a couple and small kids (like us). The pull-out sofa was for the children and we had the bedroom. We will definitely hope to stay at this place again if it is available. The only one downside is that there is a tall cell-phone transmitter/receiver tower at the top of the hill, but for a short stay, it didn't bother us. We found our stay very relaxing, exactly what we were looking for. Thank you again Stacey and Faith!
