The Carriage House was the perfect place to spend a long weekend. It was exactly as described in the listing, only better! It was immaculate and welcoming and we felt at home within minutes of arriving. We chose this place because of its central location for visiting with our children from CT and MA; and visiting a granddaughter for her birthday. Plus friends from Plymouth met us in Bellingham for a meal; and we shopped at The Shoppes at Blackstone Valley. It was so much better than staying in a hotel and we plan to stay here again.
The kitchen was stocked with everything that we needed for utensils, pots and pans, dishes, etc. The unit was heated with both electric and heat pump; plus the gas fireplace, and we were comfortably warm with just the heat pump. There was a snowstorm during our visit and the owner, who lives on the property, was prompt about snow removal. Also, this was a very spur of the moment decision for us and Debi was quick to respond and courteous about the hasty arrangements.
The only suggestion I would make is that the absolutely beautiful king-size bed in one of the bedrooms is high off the floor and being a short lady, I had a bit of a hard time getting in the bed. A small step would be helpful. (I know we could have stayed in the queen bed, which was lower, but the king bed was so luxurious!)
Thank you Mark and Debi for this very well maintained, luxury carriage house.
We arrived and found that all of the previous reviews describing Stone Castle Lair were right on. The place is immaculate with nothing needed.
Mark and Debi have done a wonderful job of making all guests completely at ease. Can't wait to get back!!!!

We highly recommend this lovely rental. Much better than a hotel, so quiet and great location close to Worcester and Providence. Property has everything described on HomeAway website. We were very comfortable staying here.
Me and my girlfriend stayed at this play for a weekend just as a little getaway from the city. This place is small, but its all you really need to be comfortable. There are two bedrooms which are fully stocked and are wicked comfy! The bathroom is also very nice. the fireplace adds a nice little atmosphere to the place at night. They have a huge tv in the living area which was nice to watch the playoff on. the Counter was a great fit to play board games on and such. We plan on coming back at some point!
only thing that was a con (which you cant really do anything about) were the smoke detectors. we were afraid that we were gonna set them off. they said they were very sensitive and could go off with the shower steam. but everything has vents, so we flicked them on and the detectors never went off!
My wife and I enjoyed this calm retreat from the hustle and bustle of the western Massachusetts interstate highways. Everything was as advertised. We wore ourselves out taking daytrips to the various places of our interest (Boston, Cambridge, the Sam Adams Brewery, Cape Cod, Plymouth Rock, Brunswick, Maine, et al). As this was our first visit to New England, we overscheduled and were exhausted by the time we returned each evening. We certainly needed the respite offered at the end of each day by the sleepy village of Douglas. The only day we rested was the day I played golf at Blackstone National (a very interesting track). The carriage house was great and we would certainly consider using it again if we were to revisit this part of the country. We were pleased with everything there. Our favorite breakfast out was at Morin's in downtown Attleboro on one of our trips into Boston. We also found dinner at Brian's in Linwood to be quite good (though be careful using GPS - ours took us over an hour out of the way). We had takeout several times from Papa Gino's in Uxbridge; we particularly liked the Super Steak sandwich. We wished a franchise would locate close to us just for that sandwich. As much as I liked it, I can't justify a two day drive for this sandwich. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Carriage House for anyone who plans an extended stay in New England.
The owners (Debi and Mark Blain) spared no expense to make the carriage house a very comfortable accommodation for guests. Upon entering the unit, we found it to be spotless! The complimentary Keurig cups and maker were a pleasant surprise. The shower was wonderful! The hardware and finishes were impressive. The bedding was very comfortable and the furniture was beautiful. I would highly recommend this carriage house to anyone travelling to MA. You will not find anything that compares to it in the area! We travelled to Salem and Boston during our visit, both within an hour +/- drive. The Blain's carriage house is a peaceful/quiet environment to help make your vacation to New England memorable and refreshing.
Located in the heart of New England, central Massachusetts, with 2 lakes in town, 20 minutes from Twin Rivers Casino, 10 minutes from Purgatory Chasm, 15 minutes from shopping and cinemas. Mt. Wachusett skiing 40 minutes away.
