Mike & Leecia didn't grow up in NYC but they've come to love the vibrant life of one of the world's great cities. They own a mid-century modern furnishings business called I Like Mike's Mid-Century Modern with a by-appointment showroom on the first floor of their Brooklyn brownstone (come visit!), and enjoy a busy neighborhood life with their young daughter and very friendly dog Lucy.
Leecia & Mike purchased this apartment in 2005
This house has a great location, near the subway and other attractions--like a playground and tennis court--and also provides the unique brownstone experience that you can't get in any other kind of dwelling. It's house living in the heart of the city. Stuyvesant Heights is a lovely historic area, rich in trees, churches, and brownstones--and it offers a retreat from the intensity of Manhattan while also being conveniently close.
This apartment has not one but two skylights, in addition to the two large windows. It has been restored with unusual care, with attention to comfort and detail.
It´s an amazing apartment in a very nice neighborhood in Brooklyn, 5 min walking from the A (express) and C subway lines to Manhattan. Leecia is very kind, helpful and everything was in order when we arrived. The apartment is perfect for two, just as the pictures describes and very close to supermarkets, nice grocery stores and a charming cafe. I surely recommend this apartment for anyone, also I have to say is a very safe neighborhood, we walked at night (12 am - 2 am) and nothing happens.
I would definely stay again. Thank you for making our stay Leecia.
Perfect is how I would sum up our stay at this cozy apartment in Brooklyn. It is exactly as it appears in photos, no surprises. Cute, quaint and quiet at night, this apartment had everything we needed. And the price was right! It is close to the subway as indicated and we felt perfectly safe returning late at night after a ball game. Go Blue Jays! We stayed from May 20-26, the weather was great. I would not hesitate to stay here again and recommend it to anyone. It was kind of like staying with friends who were looking out for us, thanks again Leecia and Mike.

Apt in Bed-Sty area 6 min easy and safe (I walked up through midnight) walk to subway. Very nice bathroom, well functioning kitchen and very comfortable bed on the second floor.
We feel terrible for not reviewing this amazing apartment earlier. We enjoyed a great month here over Christmas and New Year 2013-14 and couldn't have been happier. Our hosts were fantastic and welcoming, the apartment was perfect for two - super clean and with everything we needed. The pictures and description are all exactly right: short walk to a supermarket, amazing local places to eat, short stroll to the A Train for a quick journey into Manhattan (or an even quicker journey on the C to some of the best places in Brooklyn.) We would love to come back, and have recommended this place to any of our friends looking for a place to stay in NYC. Hope to come and stay again Leecia (sorry it took us so long to write this).
This lovely little studio apartment was in a perfect location. We took the Airtrain from JFK, directly to the Utica Subway stop. From there, the aparmtent was just a couple of blocks away. The Utica subway stop also goes on to Manhattan, making this place a midway stop. Leecia provided excellent directions on how to get to the apartment. She was just lovely and very welcoming. Every thing in the apartment was thought of, for literally, a home away from home. However, and this is my only one small niggle (and it may be an English thing) but we would have really appreciated a 'welcome-pack' for our late arrival, to save us going out shopping immediately after arrival. There is a lovely coffee shop, (Brunswick) just round the corner, ideal for breakfast.
I would definetely recommed this apartment to any one wanting to stay near to Manhattan and I would definely stay again. Thank you for making our stay Leecia.
Leecia was a great hostess. She welcomed us as we walked in. The studio was clean and perfect for 2 people. It had everything we needed. We liked the skylight in the bathroom and the kitchen. Leecia did an amazing job putting this little studio together. The subway was 3 blocks away. There's a couple of bodegas close to the apartment. It was a quick trip to Manhattan. We definitely enjoyed our stay and of course, will stay here again next time we're back in New York.
This location is excellent for those who want close 24-hour train access to Manhattan (only 20 minutes on the subway) while also enjoying the easy living of beautiful Brooklyn. Located in the historic Stuyvesant Heights area of Bedford-Stuyvesant, the apartment is on the top floor of a historic brownstone on a classic tree-lined block, and is located between two subway stops that are both an easy 5-minute walk away. A grocery store, cafe and laundromat are around the corner; several excellent restaurants thrive within a 3 blocks of the apartment, and there are many other small, useful shops nearby as well.
