Our 4 room apartment, the first floor of the 1879 historic home of Allen Avery, allows you the opportunity to get away from your every day routine and find yourself only one short block away from the gateway to what has been aptly named Mystic Coast and Country. With beautiful hardwood floors and lots of sunny windows, this can be your home away from home for a short stay or a long, lazy summer. Located in the historic district, you can stroll amongst the other historic homes or shop and dine in the heart of downtown Mystic. You can walk across the historic bascule bridge and rent kayaks or canoes to explore the Mystic River, watch the 100 year old Sabino steam by going to and fro from Mystic Seaport or be on board the historic Prudence Island Ferry as she passes under the bridge and heads out to Fishers Island Sound. But be sure to enjoy an ice cream cone on the walk back home.
You can use the fully equipped kitchen to whip up a 5 course meal or grill up the fresh local catch of the day on the brick patio, ending the evening at the nearby pub or one of the theaters. The off-street parking area is surrounded by unique perennial gardens to be enjoyed by all and the house is both child and pet friendly, with some owner discretion with regards to the latter. It is a non-smoking accommodation and property.
Window air conditioners and ceiling fans cool things down in the summer and a powerful gas stove in the living room as well as electric baseboard heat keeps you warm when the temperatures start to drop. The apartment easily sleeps 6 with a queen size bed in the bedroom and a double bed futon and full size sleeper sofa in the living room. The dining room accommodates 6 at the table, while the kitchen is able to host a cozy breakfast, lunch or dinner for 2. There is one full bath. The layout of the apartment easily adapts for a family, two couples, or a girls’ only getaway. There is a flat screen TV, DVD, and stereo in the living room and another flat screen TV in the bedroom.
