Nice cabin on laurel hill
The cabin was family friendly and great for all ages
Enjoying this beautiful state
First time visiting this part of West Virginia, my family and I didn’t know that it would be so beautiful. Really enjoyed are short stay, could have stayed the rest of the week enjoyed the Lodge so beautiful, well maintained hope to be able to go down in the future. Theresa Johnson was wonderful. Got to meet her at the state fair my daughter loves her ribs but all in all we enjoyed every minute that we were there Thanks again
Restful and relaxing mountain home
We really enjoyed staying in the home. It was great.
Had a great time
We could not be more pleased with our stay at Vista View. The home was beautiful, the location perfect, and our host was fabulous! We were visited by a beautiful buck in the mornings, along with stunning morning views as the fog rolled up the mountains. The road to the cabin, while "interesting" if you have mountain road anxiety, was perfectly navigable without 4-wheel drive and offered beautiful scenery and plentiful deer sightings. The kitchen was well equipped, and plenty of linens provided.
At the risk of the property being unavailable when I want to book it next, do yourself a favor and book this cabin for a peaceful retreat from the busyness of life! There's a reason they call West Virginia, "Almost Heaven", and Vista View provides a little slice of it; God bless Theresa for sharing it with us!
Secluded mountain retreat
Owner was very responsive and the house is as the listing states. It was clean but a bit musty, damp when we arrived. That improved during our stay with the A/C running. We wished it had a larger skillet but we managed. The electric grill did not work well. Very slow to heat. You will definitely want to have all the supplies you need before heading up the mountain. It’s quite a trip! However, once there the view off the deck is serene and expansive. My hotspot worked well while there.
The central heating and cooling system functions perfectly. The temperature is adjusted more moderately when there is no one there between guests, generally enough to keep it comfortable, so it may not be at its perfect temperature for you upon arrival, but as you have said, once you adjust the thermostat to your liking, its fine. You mentioned that you wished you had a larger skillet, but there are larger skillets and pots. You may have missed them. It may be possible that they were placed in another area in the kitchen. Unfortunately, other guests don’t place them in the cabinets properly after washing them. We are constantly rearranging. Also, I am not sure why you are saying that the electric grill was slow to heat. We did check for the skillet and the grill. We found the larger skillet and the grill was working fine. Contacting me while you were there regarding this may have solved the questions you had, rather than place it in a review after the fact. I am very responsive, as you also have stated, so I never have an issue with someone contacting me during a stay. To get to enjoy the long distant views of the vistas, you do need to drive up the mountain. Getting your groceries in town, just before you ascend the mountain after guests drive a long trip from home is always advisable, so that you can just get there and relax, rather than get there and drive down the mountain to go grocery shopping. Thank you for being great guests and hope to see you again soon.
