Our IN home-away-from-home

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay in the house and I loved it even more this visit. It just happens to be close to local family but it's also close to lots of great Indianapolis restaurants (we ate at Mama Corolla's) and close to the main freeways if you want to go into downtown. The house itself is large and comfortable for our family of 3 generations that stayed there. Plenty of room to play board games or just sit by the fire.

Great location....tired house...needs some TLC

  • 2 of 5

great NE location; house is dated and not all things in working condition; toilet problem corrected by handyman; he was not authorized to fix the non working shower in the tub/shower combo; dangerous, uneven front sidewalk; un-mentioned sunken living room a fall hazard; questionable task of turning up hot water heater upon arrival and then required to turn it down before leaving, while dishwasher and clothes washer are in use; K-cup coffee machine a plus; amount of paper products a minus; would not reccommend

Owner's Response: It is sad that someone tells you what a great time they are having and when things aren't left in good order, part of the Security Deposit was withheld, hence our first ever negative review. I will address the negative comments: The toilet was continually running, I had the handyman out the next morning to address the issue. The 'non'working' shower is working fine. This is one where you have to pull the shower knob when the water is off otherwise you will have resistance. The fixtures are Kohler so excellent quality. I was not told they couldn't use the shower. Sunken living room is two steps which are marked by contrasting tile. I always mention this to anyone who tells me they have someone who has trouble with steps. Many guests who have to have a one story home due to no stairs have stayed here and have had not issues. Not sure about the comment re: the dishwasher and washing machine. I've never run out of hot water. Yes, I ask for the hot water to be turned down, just to save on gas consumption. Not sure why that is a negative. We provide coffee, toiletries in case someone forgets something, ziploc bags, paper towels, trash bags, of course paper towels, and toilet paper. I withheld part of the Security Deposit due to unemptied trash, dirty dishes and black streaks left on bathroom rugs , this guest now is retaliating. I am proud of this home. It is clean, maintained, and things are repaired regularly.

Great House

  • 5 of 5

Very nice house. Lots of little amenities like k-cups, shampoo, toothpaste to make things easy for the traveler. The house was comfortable and clean. Communications with the owner were timely and clear. Definitely a great experience.

Very comfortable in a quiet and convenient neighbohood

  • 5 of 5

My Dad and 4 siblings stayed to have a weekend together before my dad's surgery to remove a tumor at IUPUI. It was quiet and relaxing. There is a state park close by that we were able to take advantage of. It was a special weekend full of games and great food, and a wonderful place to come back to after a LONG day at the hospital. So grateful that this place was available and able to accommodate our large family.

Perfect, peaceful, quite, clean, and safe.

  • 5 of 5

The house was quiet, clean, and everything as advertised. Janeece was great to work with. She is a terrific communicator and

we had all the information we needed to hit the ground running. We needed to add a night because of an unexpected family emergency.

Fortunately the property was available and Janeece worked with us promptly to make it happen.

All the appliances were great. We ate breakfast and lunch at the house. We had dinners out with family. We then came "home"

and relaxed.

Thank you Janeece. If we need a place in Indy again, you are definitely first on our list!

Above and beyond

  • 5 of 5

I have rented all over the world on VRBO and have really enjoyed many homes. This home sure did not disappoint. From the initial contact with the owner to the time we left, everything went smooth.

The owner is fantastic to work with. Very detailed information about the property and the area was provided, really making our stay much more enjoyable.

The home is better than pictured and described. Super clean! Every detail is thought about, from super comfy beds, sheets and pillows to really nice towels. There is a VERY well stocked kitchen, with really everything you could possibly need. The owner even provides soap, toothbrushes, etc for those people who forget something.

The location is fantastic, very close to the interstate but far enough away that it feels like a little reprieve from the craziness of the city. The neighborhood is nice, has sidewalks for walking, and appears to be very safe. We saw lots of families walking in the evening.

Overall, this is probably one of the nicest homes I've stayed at. I hope to return and enjoy the home and all that Indy has to offer.

*Performing Arts:

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has its home in the Hilbert Circle Theater, a vintage 1916 film palace on Monument Circle. Clowes Memorial Hall, a performing arts center on the campus of Butler University, is home to the Indianapolis Opera, Butler Ballet, and Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. The professional Indiana Repertory Theatre, offers a September-to-May season, including classics such as A Christmas Carol. We have been to some great concerts at the Murat Shrine.

For live jazz every night except Sunday, head to the cozy Chatterbox Tavern, where big-name acts playing in town sometimes stop by. (Mick Jagger once dropped in after a Stones concert.) Another downtown top spot for live music is the Slippery Noodle Inn, Indiana's oldest standing bar (established 1850; rumor has it that Hoosier hoodlum John Dillinger used the club's back wall for target practice) and the place in the city for blues.

Other Activities: shopping, spa
