The home is located in a rural subdivision in which each house has at least an acre. The road is a one mile loop great for walking and biking and very family friendly. The lot is surrounded with a wrought iron fence which gives it an estate feel. It looks like a Spanish hacienda and has plenty of room to run around and play. We have a great play ground for kids and a basketball hoop. The pool has an outdoor warm shower with a bamboo fence as well as a brick BBQ and night time lighting. The home has 3 bedrooms on the main level and 2 baths. The master has a very large bathtub and glass enclosed shower. The kitchen is spacious and bright with an eating corner and a nice family room adjoining. There is an 8 foot slider unto a deck and a large screened porch. On the same level is a large living room and dining room. The colors are all warm tones and the furnishings are comfy chic with wonderful paintings by local artists throughout the house. Downstairs there is a large cinema room with fireplace and two private bedrooms that share a bathroom with shower. There is a separate laundry room as well as a two car garage. The driveway has a great basketball hoop. We also have an organic vegetable garden, herb garden, and fruit trees.
We are a professional couple (teacher and lawyer) with two young boys. We moved up here from New York City about 9 years ago after coming up on weekends and dreading going back. We have been renovating homes and renting them as our side business and enjoy creating a wonderful homey environment for our guests. We always have repeat renters because the homes are comfortable, clean and well decorated. We are local and can help you find your way around as well as help you arrange for a babysitter or recommend good yoga teachers and restaurants and golf courses. Husband is the club champ and can help you get on the wonderfully maintained private course three minutes away (wanted me to write that he has a plus one handicap).
Jasmine Jordaan purchased this chateau / country house in 2011
We love this home since it is the most liveable one we have owned so far. It has a great feel and having an open plan and three bedrooms on one level makes it great for kids and when we have guests they feel private in the two bedroom suite on the lower level with its own door and hallway. The home has lots of arches and skylights and the pool is fabulous.
We would not recommend this rental! We rent a home every year for our extended family of 8. We were very disappointed with the quality of the house and more importantly the preparedness of the owner. First, our initial search for rentals included ‘Air conditioning’ as a criteria. This rental was listed as having AC, even though there is no air conditioning. Despite this, we proceeded with the rental. Once in the house, we regretted our decision. It does not seem that the owners considered the comfort of their guests. There were no empty cupboards, drawers, closets to store our food & clothing. The refrigerator and freezer had a lot of the owners food in it with little room for our food. This extended beyond the usual condiments that are usually left behind. There was an entire ice cream cake box left in the freezer. The entire pantry and cupboards were full of their food. The rooms were not clean. Dirty underwear, tissues, used & open containers of lotions, candle wax were left on the floor and tables, dressers, etc. The contract promised half of all closets were empty. That was not true. There was no space available in any closet. We had to live out of our suitcases for the week. A live cockroach was found in the cupboard, forcing us to wash every dish that we used. Paper plates stuck to the table every time we ate. No matter how much we tried to clean the tables, they were still very sticky. A extremely strong musty smell throughout the house, particularly on the bottom floor. We purchased air fresheners and the two teenage boys had to sleep upstairs on the couch because the smell was so strong. The GFI switch in the kitchen blew each time we plugged in the toaster & coffee pot. Many lights in the house don't work or flashed on or off continually. Several windows/screens could not be opened in all the rooms. Either the window cranks were stripped or the screens were falling out making it impossible to cool the house down. Bedding was to be provided, however, only the bottom sheet was on the beds in 3 of the rooms. We needed to purchase bed sheets in order to sleep. Bed frames were also missing. The master simply had a box spring and mattress sitting on the floor. The nightstand had a lamp with no bulb in it. The screen door to the outside was very difficult to open and often fell off the door. A zip line was included in the description of the rental, but was not available. We will never return to this vacation home.
This was a lovely property with everything you need for a relaxing stay. It has a well equipped kitchen and beautifully maintained yard and pool area. Highly recommend this rental.
As always, we had a great time, the house is beautiful, perfectly located and the pool was just icing on the cake. Jasmine and her husband are super helpful and accommodating, and always available if needed.
We had 4 generations there for 6 great days, we came from Calif, Ct & PA, ages 74-4 and all loved our time together. The children who live in a city especailly loved having their own pool and yard. It was magic time for them.
We always entered & left the house from the deck or thru the garage-on our last afternoon the children were chasing each other around the yard, our 4 yr old grand son called for me so excited "Grandma, I found the secret door!!!" He was so thrilled at this magic house-for the first time he had noticed the front door which we had never used, I didn't let him see me laugh, he was so full of wonder & excitement.
We all gathered together for a wedding that was held near-by, lovely time.
The house was comfortable & spacious, easy to adjust to not having our own pots/pans/ dishes.
It was the first time in Woodstock for all of us, so we do recommend that you bring insect repellent for all outside activites in the whole area, it might have been the weather or time but everywhere we went outside flying insects, gnats? mosquitoes? were in abundance but the personal insect repellant worked well.
If we ever have the opportunity to return we would reserve this house again.
We were a group of two families (kids ages 4-9) who now live in NYC but miss the summer style living of Australia, so a kid-safe yard, pool and outdoor grill were essential. This house offered us the perfect combination of ways to have fun together, or hang out as adults and leave the kids to their own devices (eg playground/zip line and cinema room). Great that there's lots of separate areas for everyone to relax, indoors and out; the screened porch was lovely for after dinner on warm nights; and the herb garden/large kitchen/dining table was perfect for feeding everyone. Pretty much ditto to all the positives mentioned by other reviewers, but I'd also add some extra selling points to the pool - there's now plenty of pool furniture (and toys), all very comfortable, an outdoor shower which the kids loved for warming up between swims, and the fact that the shallow end is flat rather than gradually sloping is great for little non swimmers.
Jasmine is very responsive, and happy to answer any questions. Their home feels personal, yet they've cleared space in bathroom cabinets and closets to allow guests to comfortably unpack.
While we didn't get out much, I did manage to get in two yoga classes, and highly recommend Euphoria. It's in a pretty part of town, easy to park, and a range of classes suited to the laid back style of a vacation (or maybe Woodstock generally?) I did a level I/II with Kimberley which was just the right amount of effort, and the Restorative with Danika later in the week was a perfect escape from the children, and also good if bringing someone along who doesn't regularly practice. Just be prepared to be s l o w . Pretty reasonable at $16 a class.
Also big thumbs up for Woodstock Meats - great prices, and good old fashioned butcher service. Sunflower's pretty expensive; if you're not too fussed, the Hurley Market south of the house was great for everything else.
We'd definitely recommend this house for people with similar requirements.
I wanted a house in Woodstock for a large group to celebrate my birthday and this house was it. The pool was key and everyone enjoyed it. The diving board was great and just lounging by the pool was the perfect way to spend a weekend. The house was clean and warm and the large table was perfect for our meals. The fenced in property was great for my little frenchie and it was very easy to get into town or to the grocery store. The owners were very prompt and helpful. I would highly recommend this property and will love to come back.
We are 2 minutes to Woodstock, one of the nicest small towns in America full of music and great restaurants as well as five yoga studios. There is a pool on site but also several swimming holes nearby
