Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the location & unit. Everything was well stocked, lots of towels in both bathrooms, extra sheets, she has every kitchen tool you could think of, so it made it very easy to move right in for an enjoyable stay. The unit has two exits to the balcony so you just walk 10 steps to the pool. We also loved having the full sized washer & dryer to be able to keep on top of laundry. I hate having to come home with piles of dirty laundry, so this was a huge plus. The island is a great place to have a relaxing vacation. We felt very safe and everyone was friendly. Be sure to come prepared with all your groceries. There is no grocery store within a 30 minute drive. They have a small store on the island, but it is very expensive.

The only negative things I can say is that the doors are very hard to lock and unlock. But once we figured them out, it worked fine. The other negative thing is that the rental company requires you to purchase a "damage waiver". The website that I booked on did not say anything about it, but the people called me after I booked and paid and said they would not let us stay there without paying for the waiver. It was only $45, but I felt like it should have been stated on the front end. Having said that, the people at the rental company were very helpful and friendly.

All in all, a great time was had by all, and it was a really nice place to stay. We definitely will be back!

Dauphin Island is a barrier Island located 30 miles south of Mobile Al. There is a 3 mile bridge connecting the island to the mainland. The Island is very low key with a few restaurants, bars, pizza, snow cones, ice cream, BBQ, and great local seafood ( uncooked and cooked )! This is the place to get away and enjoy family time, biking, walking, the bike trail which is the entire length of the Island. Beach Combing on our sandy white beaches, surf fishing and deep sea fishing. Also a birders delight with the Audubon Bird Sanctuary and the Shell Mounds. Fort Gaines a Civil War Fort on the east end is always fun for the children. Also the Sea Lab has an excellent Estuaruiam which is great for children and adults. The Mobile Bay Ferry runs between Dauphin Island and Fort Morgan providing easy access to shopping ( outlet malls ) and restaurants. Lots to do in Mobile which is an easy 30 minute drive.
