Welcome to Bent Apple Farm - Once a morgan horse farm...Now a perfect romantic escape!
If an authentic VT barn with all the modern amenities is your idea of perfection, you have found the right house! This 200 year old barn was rebuilt by my buddy and me and outfitted with top of the line kitchen appliances so cooks get ready! The barn has been featured on a number of cooking shows and restoration shows! If old style wood burning stoves and dutch oven cooking are your thing, wide 200 year old floor boards and claw foot tubs...This is your spot! With a country porch and rocking chairs you will have your grilling paradise with top notch views of the green mountains! We have miles and miles of trial riding, skiing, and snowshoeing just steps from the front door you won't run out of activities! With a pond perfect for winter ice skating parties and swimming in the summertime you won't be leaving the property often.
If one couple in the group needs a little privacy...The run-in is designed just for that:) Only 20 feet from the barn you will find it a beautiful cozy space just far enough away from the barn to take a break from the couple you never should have invited;) The Run-In/ In-law shed has everything you will need if ya don't ever want to talk to that couple in the barn for the rest of the weekend;)
After wrapping up four successful seasons of his cooking reality show, Hook, Line and Dinner, for Cooking Channel, Ben set his sights on an entirely new adventure: Bringing his Vermont family farm back to life and building and entirely new structure on the property. He created first created “The Barn,” as it’s affectionately known, built entirely out of salvaged wood and other vintage and repurposed materials. The Barn was so distinct, that Ben soon found himself designing and restoring buildings for other people. Thanks to the interest in these creative and unique homes, Ben anticipates he’ll create a little utopian paradise in the mountains of Vermont.
While he has always had a passion for design, Ben has primarily been known as a seafood chef having made numerous television appearances including The Martha Show, Good Morning America, Fox & Friends and Kathy Lee and Hoda. Other notable appearances include NPR’s Found Recipes, which featured Ben and his alter ego, Doctor Klaw, and TEDX Brooklyn, which he emceed in 2013. He was also featured in a national campaign and webseries for GE refrigerators called “Freshpedition”. Ben is also the author of The Catch: Sea-to-Table Recipes, Stories and Secrets (Clarkson Potter 2013).
This property is ideal for the family or couple that likes a true Vermont experience. Being set a short distance off the mountain in true farm country you will experience Vermont as it was meant to be. The house was designed for chefs/cooks and anyone that loves kitchen life and authentic barn living!!!
There is not one thing in this barn with the exception of the modern fridge and monogram stove that isn't over 200 years old. I wanted the plumbing and heating to work and I love a modern kitchen when needed, but I spent almost 2 years collecting the perfect aged sink, cook top, bathtub, toilet...You get the idea. This used to be an active horse barn and now it's about the most cozy escape you could ever imagine!
I cannot say enough what a pleasure it was to stay in this home. It is obviously a well loved and well cared for home. Ben was beyond generous and available and always happy and a pleasure to speak/deal with.
The house is roomy and warm, with lots of cozy charm and the kitchen is the best stocked for cooking I have ever experienced in a rental. We were there a week, two couples, and we cooked every meal.
There were a couple of winter storms and we lost power, but the electric company worked fast, and Ben was on the scene quickly as well with candles and extra firewood. We stayed warm and happy.
The home is located near great skiing - and the property and neighborhood was great for walking around. Nearby shopping accessible by car. All our needs were met and beyond. We hope to return for the dog sledding Ben hosts!
Listing accurate - pictures accurate - clean, well-maintained. Owner easy to deal with, responsive, on the ball and super friendly. Cannot recommend more highly. Oh, we went online and found a massage therapist who got a colleague to come for a house call. That was great. http://www.wisehandsvermont.com
Really, most I have to say is ENJOY.
This AMAZING home is renovated/modern yet full of character, and beautifully decorated yet kid-friendly (we had 5 little ones) and so much fun (hot tub!). It's set on an expansive property in a gorgeous, and quiet/peaceful, bucolic area that's very close to Stratton, Bromley, and especially Magic Mountain. Really cannot say enough about this place - I've rented lots of vacation homes around the country, and this is by far my favorite!
This house is truly one of a kind! A wonderful place to bring a family or group of friends to explore Vermont or simply hang out in the kitchen/living room. Plenty of sleeping area, a gourmet kitchen, and even a fully working Barn if you have horses.
I had a wonderful weekend a look forward to coming back again. I would recommend it to all, expect if you are trying to book my weekend....
This house is in a great location for exploring Vermont, winter or summer. It is also wonderfully laid out for a family or large group of friends. The kitchen/family room in particular is great for eating, socializing, playing games, reading or just staying warm next to the wood burning stove. The hot tub that faces Bromley Mt. is an added bonus, especially when you can hang out under the stars!
The description in the write-up is accurate and the owner is very accommodating and easy to work with.
If an authentic Vermont barn with all the modern amenities is your idea of perfection, you have found the right house! This house was built by my buddy and me and over 2 years and most of the wood was dragged up from an old barn on the VT/NY boarder. There are miles and miles of trails for horseback riding, hiking, and snowshoeing just steps from the front door. A short drive to Bromley, Stratton and Magic Mountains make it ideal for skiers. Does your family love to congregate in the kitchen? This house is outfitted with top of the line kitchen appliances, and an antique wood burning stove for any type of chef. Spend your evenings under the stars in the six person hot tub located at the main house. We have a country style porch with rocking chairs that look out onto Bromley Mountain. Bring the family...We have extra sleeping areas in our 1972 F350 Camper attached to the kitchen...It's an experience!!!
Other Activities: Dog Sledding, Snow mobiling
Golf: Stratton is only about 10 minutes away. There is word class golf there...We also have a local golf club just up the road from the house.
Ski: If you are a serious about skiing and there happens to be a big snowfall while you are staying at Bent Apple Farm I highly suggest hitting Magic! It is some of the best skiing in the area. It is steep and it can be deep on the right day! You will have the place almost to yourselves and might end up having one of the best days of your life. Bromley is where we all learned to ski...It is the perfect family mountain, It has a bit of everything. The terrain varies from easy to quite challenging on the east side. You can check out the conditions right from the house! Stratton is about the same distance as Bromley and has a considerable amount of glitz. If you are looking for spas, cafes, shopping and well groomed trails or a snowboarding park...Well, Stratton is your spot. If anyone is not feeling the ski bug...well, they can head just over the mountain into Manchester for an afternoon of amazing outlet shopping!
