About Jody Place

We love Somerset Village! Both apartments with balconies are upstairs with its own entrances. We reside in downstairs apartment along with our Home Goods store. The community is very friendly. Lots to see and do if you enjoy the nature!

Jody Place purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Jody Place chose Bermuda

In a quaint and romantic small Downtown.

We believe you will enjoy our place if you travel for the purpose of promoting health and wellness through physical activities and relaxation including cultural experience. Sandys is the western most Parish. It's named after Sir Edwin Sandys who made large investments to colonize the parish in early 1600s. The parish name is pronounced as 'Sands'. Sandys has five islands that are joined by bridges. The islands are Ireland Island North, Ireland Island South, Boaz Island, Watford Island and the biggest of all, Somerset Island. The Royal Naval Dockyard where most of the cruise ships anchor, is located at Ireland Island North. Being farthest from the congested Hamilton City, the parish provides refreshing piece and serenity that are quickly disappearing in tourist populated Bermuda.

What makes this apartment unique

To wake up every morning to the Beautiful picturesque blue water, sail boats, coconut trees, etc!

Easy Access with Bermuda Public Transportation System! Least expensive, reliable, safe and convenient way to explore the Island.

Buses and Ferries for Sandys, Bermuda

Bus routes #7 and #8 connect Hamilton City and Sandys. Bus #8 is more frequent than #7 and takes the Middle Road in Sandys through the urban areas, while bus#7 takes mainly the scenic South Road.

There are several ferry stops in Sandys that serve Hamilton City.

1) At the Dockyard - Few Bus Stops from EXIM Guest Apartment

2) At Watford Bridge - Walking distance from EXIM Guest Apartment

3) At Cavello Bay - Walking distance from EXIm Guest Apartment. This is located in Somerset island and is a lovely place. Buses won't go all the way. To reach the ferry stop, take Somerset Road, then Sound View Road and then Scott's Hill Road and go right up to the end.

4) At Somerset Bridge Wharf.

Naval Royal/Dock Yard, Maritime Museum, Fort Scaur, Glass Bottom Boat Tour, Smallest Draw Bridge in the World, Hog Bay

We LOVE "Hog Bay": This is one of the best kept secrets of the island and very few know about the beach. It is located in Sandy's parish.

So why is Hog Bay Beach so unknown in Bermuda? Because you need to walk quite a bit through a rocky and wooded trail to get to it, and it is only a beach at low tide. During high tide, the beach disappears completely. So the beach is usually available for you to enjoy only for about four hours a day. But for us that's a privileged exclusivity for four long hours, and we thoroughly enjoy the walk through the trail as well. It's a tiny beach at low tide and a beautiful area for swimming and snorkeling. At low tide, the shallows extend some 300 meters into the sea, and is excellent for snorkeling. But you should get hold of a tide chart to time your visit correctly. You can get a tide chart in the website weather.bm for any day.

Awesome and amazing! Great view, clean and such nice people!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon in Bermuda and we can't say enough good things about Jody & Cathy's place! The unit is a very spacious studio with full shower and kitchen. Open layout with a nice king bed and beautiful balcony overlooking Mangrove Bay. It's completely modern and very clean. Jody and Cathy are extremely friendly and helpful but at the same time, not at all overbearing. We felt like we had full privacy but when we needed something Jody was always there to help quickly. He can help with the bus and ferry system and any other questions about the island you have. The little town of somerset where this is located is quiet and quaint. The pharmacy next door and the beverage shop across the street were very nice to have. Made it easy to pick up little things we needed along the way. The unit is located very close to Dockyard which is a fun, more touristy place and is only about a 20 minute bus ride to the the south shore beaches. You can ferry to St. George or Hamilton from Dockyard or take the bus. We used the ferry a couple times but mostly rode the bus around. Once you figure out the routes, it's pretty easy to get around. Overall we just loved it here and had the best time. It was always nice to come 'home' to the unit after a long day out and feel like it was very restful and relaxing. Thank you Jody and Cathy for being so awesome and for everything you did for us. We hope to be back someday! Cheers!

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a 6 night stay at Exim Apartment and had a wonderful time. The apartment is very nice...large, modern, comfortable king bed and great shower and bath & lovely little balcony. The full kitchen is a definite plus however we enjoyed going across the street to the Country Squire Restaurant and Pub where June and Saf took excellent care of us. We were in Bermuda to attend the Americas Cup Races so the Somerset location & the bus stop just across the street made our trips to and from the dockyard very easy. There is also a ferry stop within an easy walk. Owner Jody was very helpful with our questions and arranging trips to and from the airport...we highly recommend this property!

Simply beautiful and elegant

Words cannot describe how comfortable our visit has been very helpful throughout with the help of Mr. Jody. From airport transfers to local trip planning to every detail of our trip has been thoroughly explained in detail to us to make this a comfortable experience for us and we are very thankful to Mr Jody for this house as its so beautiful from inside and contains everything that one need. I think a full kitchen allowed us to cook our meals and have our own dinner in our balcony. Beautiful place and would recommend everyone to stay here

Charming and convenient

  • 5 of 5

Bermuda is lovely, and Jody's hospitality and charming apartment made our visit a wonderful one. Husband and I prefer not to stay at resorts or hotels, so this apartment was a logical choice. Jody checked in on us periodically, and to answer our questions and help sort out transportation passes. The apartment is tastefully decorated, had all the kitchen/linen supplies we needed for a 6 night stay, and was clean and spacious. The location is steps away from the bus stop, post office, liquor store, pharmacy, ATM machine, and a bar/grill, and we utilized them all. The stroll to Somerset Long Bay Beach was an easy 10-15 minute walk, and since it was April, we had the beach to ourselves, if you don't count the sea turtles that popped up their heads just a few yards away from where we were swimming. (Bring water shoes--there is broken glass on the beach.) The start of the Railway Trail is also a short walk away--the gorgeous views from Fort Scaur are worth it! Explore the neighborhood, since there are lush flowers and water views all around. Pour yourselves some Gosling's, sit on the apartment's balcony, and enjoy the view across the way.

Wonderful vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 5 days in Somerset at Jody's place. The apartment is much bigger in person than it is in the photos! The bathroom/shower were well appointed and large enough for the 2 of us to get around easy while getting ready. The kitchen worked out perfectly for making breakfast or a late night snack (we ate out for most meals although you could cook all your meals here). The bed was very comfortable - with more than enough room for us both - we slept well for sure!! All in all we were extremely pleased with apartment, the host and the location. It's a quiet part of town and very convenient to pretty much everything. The bus stop across the street makes it easy to get around the island, but the bus schedule does take some getting used to. That said, it's a much easier and cheaper way to get around the island than a taxi! The ferry at the dockyard was just under 3 miles away - we enjoy jogging so we used the opportunity to get in a 5K a couple of times while we were there. Jody was a wonderful host - we cannot wait to go back! The view from the balcony was lovely and you wake up to birds chirping in the morning. There was a little public beach nearby where we went to stargaze at night or exercise in the mornings. The convenience store downstairs made grabbing little things we forgot SUPER easy too. The Country Squire just down the street was a great little pub and restaurant to laugh with locals, have a bite to eat and grab a Rum Swizzle! We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful, well run property with a gorgeous view

  • 5 of 5

When another host cancelled our reservation at the last minute, we were lucky to find this place. The hosts were responsible, professional, interesting, and friendly. They gave us useful tips when we asked for them, but also gave us space to do our own thing. The apartment was comfortable, clean, and had great bathroom/kitchen amenities. The location is very close to a commuter ferry as well as a stop for two bus lines. Highly recommended!
