Somerset Village, a small sleepy and picturesque community, was once a busy maritime port that hugs the Mangrove Bay. The water is crystal clear and perfect for a quick dip or you can just enjoy a stroll on the beach. Stroll along the narrow lanes on both sides of Mangrove Bay road and you will see many pastel color houses with wooden balconies, the small stores and the sleepy lifestyle of the islanders.

Exim Guest Apartment, new fully renovated with all amenities, overlooking the turquoise waters and sail boats of Mangrove Bay. Bus stops are in front of the Building on either directions make it very convenience to tour the Island either by Land or Sea. A ferry station at Watford Bridge is just a walk away.

Either strolling, running or biking through beautiful "Railway Trail"

Few steps across the way is 'Somerset Long Bay Beach' which provides a private local experience. The white, sandy beach, swimming near the coast with panoramic view of the northern coast of the island that doesn't usually get packed with beach goers, watch the Beautiful Magical Sunset every evening.

We love Somerset Village! Both apartments with balconies are upstairs with its own entrances. We reside in downstairs apartment along with our Home Goods store. The community is very friendly. Lots to see and do if you enjoy the nature!

We believe you will enjoy our place if you travel for the purpose of promoting health and wellness through physical activities and relaxation including cultural experience. Sandys is the western most Parish. It's named after Sir Edwin Sandys who made large investments to colonize the parish in early 1600s. The parish name is pronounced as 'Sands'. Sandys has five islands that are joined by bridges. The islands are Ireland Island North, Ireland Island South, Boaz Island, Watford Island and the biggest of all, Somerset Island. The Royal Naval Dockyard where most of the cruise ships anchor, is located at Ireland Island North. Being farthest from the congested Hamilton City, the parish provides refreshing piece and serenity that are quickly disappearing in tourist populated Bermuda.

Buses and Ferries for Sandys, Bermuda

Bus routes #7 and #8 connect Hamilton City and Sandys. Bus #8 is more frequent than #7 and takes the Middle Road in Sandys through the urban areas, while bus#7 takes mainly the scenic South Road.

There are several ferry stops in Sandys that serve Hamilton City.

1) At the Dockyard - Few Bus Stops from EXIM Guest Apartment

2) At Watford Bridge - Walking distance from EXIM Guest Apartment

3) At Cavello Bay - Walking distance from EXIm Guest Apartment. This is located in Somerset island and is a lovely place. Buses won't go all the way. To reach the ferry stop, take Somerset Road, then Sound View Road and then Scott's Hill Road and go right up to the end.

4) At Somerset Bridge Wharf.

We had the honeymoon of a lifetime at Jody’s place! I can’t say enough good things about Jody and Cathy. They were very accommodating and helpful and genuinely want their visitors to have the best trip imaginable. Jody even gave us a tour of the island on an electric bike which was a blast! The unit itself is very spacious with an unforgettable view of Mangrove bay from the balcony. It has everything you need for a short to extended stay such as a full kitchen, king size bed, digital cable plus much more. The town of Somerset on the west end of the island is a quiet little village set in a perfect location close to some of the tourist spots and beaches. There is a post office a short walk away where you can purchase bus tickets or passes for traveling around the island. The pharmacy and beverage store was very convenient to pick up little things you need along the way. Somerset squire is located just across the road & we were very pleased with the food & service, while the locals make it an friendly and fun experience. It is a short bus ride (sort of long walk which we learned the hard way) from the dockyard which has plenty to choose from to see between the museum, restaurants and shopping. The famous beaches located on the south side of the island were about a 15-20 minute ride away which is were we spent most of our time. Horse Shoe Bay is the recommended spot to spend at the beach! Very beutiful sights with clear water as far as you can see. After a long day at the beach, the city of Hamilton is about a 30 minute drive away if you wanted a dinner and night out. It was very comforting to have a long day out to come back to the unit to get some rest and relaxation. This really was the trip of a lifetime and highly recommend visiting with Jody & Cathy. Thank you to Jody & Cathy for everything and we hope to be back again!

What a DEAL and the BEST hospitality you will find

I have NEVER stayed at a place with the gracious amount of hospitality that Jody and Cathy have given us. They have gone above and beyond to make our stay welcomed and comfortable. Not to mention how beautiful and convenient the location was! This by far was the BEST place we have EVER stayed. If they weren't so affordable we may have never been able to stay in Bermuda. Jody has done a wonderful job renovating the apt. it was spacious roomy, and it made you feel like you feel like a princess with the beautiful balcony. Everyone in the area was extremely friendly. We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND your stay with Cathy and Jody, if you don't you are really going to miss out.

Nice property - spacious and well located. Adequately equipped to support light meals

Being close to the Dockyards was convenient in that there are ferries there that go to Hamilton and St Georges. The weekday morning and evening ferries stop at nearby Watford Bridge, a short walk from the unit. Bus stops are literally right out front.

We used buses to get to the south shore beaches. Warwick Long Bay was very quiet and we were able to walk from there to Horseshoe Bay.

We used the ferry to get to St George and Hamilton - much wuicker than the bus in both cases.

Jody the owner was very nice and arranged our transport to and from the airport with Mr Robinson who was very willing to share his knowledge of the areas we drove through.

Overall, a great stay in a wonderful place.

A Great Location Overlooking the Water.

We purchased a weekly bus pass. We found the bus very easy to hop on/off and could even use the pass for the ferry. The bus stop is located a few steps from the apartments – an easy on/off to all the Best Beaches and the Dockyard. The Royal Navy Dockyard is a ten minute bus ride where you can catch the Ferry to Hamilton or Saint George. The Dockyard also has restaurants, stores, craft stores, a small shopping mall and more.

The apartment was very clean with a full kitchen, high ceilings and a beautiful balcony overlooking Mangrove bay. Its located steps away to a pizza shop, a restaurants and convenience stores. There is also a supermarket (the Market Place) about a ten minute walk or short bus ride.

We found Long Bay Beach one of the Best with tons of sea turtles and good snorkeling around the rocks. It is only a 10-15 walk from the apartment. To get there go left from the apartment down Somerset Road, to Mangrove Bay Road, make a left on Tween Walls – it is to the left of The Nature Reserve through Long Bay Park to the Beach. The water is very calm and shallow.

Don’t forget to Stargaze – was very beautiful!

Owners Jody and Cathy were very respectful of our space and very helpful in making any arrangement and with any questions. If we lived there I think they would be our best friends – very caring and generally nice people.

Spectacular apartment in Somerset Village

What a spectacular experience we had at Jody and Kathy's apartment in Somerset Village. This place is PERFECTLY located. Far enough away from the Dockyard (about 2 miles) to be away from the hub-bub, but close enough that you can easily get to the restaurants, activities, historical tours, and the kick off point for all of the many excursions that get you out on boats, scuba diving, bike riding, cave swimming, etc. Jody and Kathy were superb hosts. We enjoyed this SO much more than a cruise, because we had an entire week to really get to know the island. We felt sorry for the hoards of people that came in on boats because two days on island is not nearly enough time to get to know this magical place. Thanks again Jody and Kathy - you will certainly hear from us again when we plan our next trip to Bermuda.

Awesome and amazing! Great view, clean and such nice people!!

My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon in Bermuda and we can't say enough good things about Jody & Cathy's place! The unit is a very spacious studio with full shower and kitchen. Open layout with a nice king bed and beautiful balcony overlooking Mangrove Bay. It's completely modern and very clean. Jody and Cathy are extremely friendly and helpful but at the same time, not at all overbearing. We felt like we had full privacy but when we needed something Jody was always there to help quickly. He can help with the bus and ferry system and any other questions about the island you have. The little town of somerset where this is located is quiet and quaint. The pharmacy next door and the beverage shop across the street were very nice to have. Made it easy to pick up little things we needed along the way. The unit is located very close to Dockyard which is a fun, more touristy place and is only about a 20 minute bus ride to the the south shore beaches. You can ferry to St. George or Hamilton from Dockyard or take the bus. We used the ferry a couple times but mostly rode the bus around. Once you figure out the routes, it's pretty easy to get around. Overall we just loved it here and had the best time. It was always nice to come 'home' to the unit after a long day out and feel like it was very restful and relaxing. Thank you Jody and Cathy for being so awesome and for everything you did for us. We hope to be back someday! Cheers!

Naval Royal/Dock Yard, Maritime Museum, Fort Scaur, Glass Bottom Boat Tour, Smallest Draw Bridge in the World, Hog Bay

We LOVE "Hog Bay": This is one of the best kept secrets of the island and very few know about the beach. It is located in Sandy's parish.

So why is Hog Bay Beach so unknown in Bermuda? Because you need to walk quite a bit through a rocky and wooded trail to get to it, and it is only a beach at low tide. During high tide, the beach disappears completely. So the beach is usually available for you to enjoy only for about four hours a day. But for us that's a privileged exclusivity for four long hours, and we thoroughly enjoy the walk through the trail as well. It's a tiny beach at low tide and a beautiful area for swimming and snorkeling. At low tide, the shallows extend some 300 meters into the sea, and is excellent for snorkeling. But you should get hold of a tide chart to time your visit correctly. You can get a tide chart in the website for any day.
