Overview

About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Our ground floor unit is bright and spacious. The condo complex is beautifully landscaped with native plants, some always in fragrant bloom. Guests enjoy two clubhouses, each with an outdoor heated pool and hot tub, complete office and WiFi access, a complete exercise room, and party facilities. The tennis court and barbecue area complete a flawlessly maintained and spotless facility.

The Catalina foothills, northeast of Tucson, offer beautiful and private accommodations with easy accessibility to most of the valley in less than 30 minutes. This impeccably maintained condo complex backs up to national forest at the mouth of a spectacular canyon filled with Saguaro cactus. The close by trailhead offers a chance to hike in a pristine part of the high Sonoran desert. The neighborhood roads are steep and curvy with little traffic. The temperature dips at night and following renowned sunsets, the sky becomes bejeweled. Below, the valley sparkles under a blanket of lights. Top 100 golf is available a quarter mile away at two Tom Fazio gems.

The most beautiful location: Tucson is a premier winter destination. The Catalina foothills had the first foothill homes in Tucson because of the elevation and stunning beauty coupled with a breathtaking view of the valley and city lights. There are very few roads that go this high and close to the mountains. There are no other Tucson condo complexes in such a setting, only expensive private homes.

This golf on the bucket list: World famous winter golf in Tucson is even better than it looks on TV. Memories of certain shots, certain moments in the desert sun, will last forever. Great golf from city municipal to many semi-private to renowned resorts is available. At a resort only a quarter mile from here, are two Tom Fazio gems, the Canyon course and the Mountain course. These are both ranked every year in the top 100 courses open to the public nationally. The proximity can mean big savings in green fees. Details, course descriptions and phone numbers, available at condo.

A nice daytime walk, less guilt at supper: There are some good restaurants within a few miles. This condo complex location, however, offers a great drive into the valley down Craycroft which becomes a major avenue once it exits the foothills. You can peel off on main arteries to the University, downtown and other points west or continue straight to South side. Here, most intersections have at least two Mexican restaurants. Most would agree, Tucson has the best Mexican food in the US. It's the only place you can order carne seca.

About Ginnie Moore

We live in Flagstaff, Arizona, and wanted to have a place in Tucson since we first met there while attending the University of Arizona in the 70's. This area in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains is our favorite!

Ginnie Moore purchased this condo in 2010

Why Ginnie Moore chose Arizona

This complex is nestled in the foothills along with multi-million dollar homes. There was no other area in Tucson with such beautiful close up views of the Catalinas, in our opinion. It is so quiet and peaceful, away from the traffic. Driving into town is so easy and a beautiful drive.

What makes this condo unique

We love hiking and being able to access the trail from our condo is a real plus! The weather during the winter in Tucson can't be beat. The heated pools, hot tub, and gym sold us on this spectacular condo complex. Also, the proximity to Lowe's Ventana Canyon resort (within a half mile or less) is also a draw as we can just walk to go eat a wonderful meal at one of their restaurants. Just down the road at Sunrise and Kolb are more restaurants, a drugstore, grocery store, an art museum, and more!

Canyon Hideaway

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed the month of December in this nicely laid out and decorated condo in a quiet neighbourhood at the base of the Catalina Mountains. Fabulous desert canyon walk/hike right out of the back gate of the complex. Only draw back is it is a bit of a drive to many attractions such as the museums and galleries downtown (30 minutes) or the Desert Museum, Old Tucson, and Mission San Xavier del Bac (40-50 minutes). Major carnivores may be put off by the lack of a grill on the pleasant screened deck/porch. Great resort golf course next door.

As advertised and expected

  • 5 of 5

The unit is clean, which is my first priority. It's nice inside. It was fine for 2 adults, but 4 would be a little tight I think. The location of the condo complex was perfect for us. The beds were comfortable and having a washer and dryer in the unit was great. We were mainly looking for a place to sleep while we visited family in the area so I can't speak to the facilities other than the pool area looked nice. Privacy in most of the ground floor units of this complex is a bit of an issue. The owners have installed top-down-bottom-up shades which is a great solution. No magnificent views from any of the windows, which is a shame. All in all a very nice unit and I would stay there again.

Super Stay

  • 5 of 5

Recently stayed at the Condo of Ms. Ginnie Moore in Tucson. I must say it was exactly what was described to me and exactly what I expected. Ms. Ginnie maintained great communication with me concerning all the details I would need to access the Condo, what to do when there and how the condo should be left on departure. I loved to organization and detail she used. She even had great area maps and information complied in a guest book to assist with what to do and where to go.

A very big shout out to her and her husband for providing this to me and I will stay there again on mu next trip to the area, if available.

Wonderful, Friendly, Positive

  • 4 of 5

We and another couple had a wonderful week staying in this condo. It was exactly as advertised. All amenities available and in place. The screened-in private patio was an early morning favorite while enjoying coffee and breakfast. This condo is conveniently located to the pool, hot tub, club house, parking, grocery stores, a variety of restaurants, Ventana Canyon (in the backyard), Sabino Canyon Recreational area, etc. As first time visitors to Tucson, the week was action packed. Activity highlights: Sonoran Desert & Museum; Tombstone, AZ; San Xavier del Bac Mission; the tram and hike in Sabino Canyon. Restaurants we liked: Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse, El Churro, Risky Business, Gentle Ben's (near U of AZ campus). The owners are very accomodating with exceptional communication. Will definitely recommend to friends and/or relatives, but would like to keep it a secret!

Beautiful Tucson Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed another Thanksgiving get-away in Tucson. This was our first time staying in this condo and it was wonderful. We spent our time golfing, hiking, and visiting friends. The condo was comfortable, clean, and located in the beautiful Foothills. Ventana Canyon is right behind the condo with Sabino Canyon not far down the road. The owners were very nice and responded whenever we had any questions. We had a great vacation and look forward to visiting again!
