Our house is the subject of the mystery novel Rendez-vous at My Lady's Manor.
Owned by Phyllis Pritchett, author of Rendez-vous at My Lady's Manor. (Buy it on Amazon). Born in Wisconsin. Don't hesitate go ask me for advise while planning your reunion or vacation. I speak English, French and some German. I, or one of my colleagues, will be present to meet you when you arrive. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your family and friends.
Phyllis purchased this villa in 1982
I bought this lovely manor because it has a special charm from a bygone era.
There is lots of space and I love gardening. The house is a cultural meeting place, where we hold classes in History and Archaeology for the University of Georgia, as well as other subjects. Familys love our house as it is easy to
get supplies from the store across the street and is near the railway station.
I am sure your family will love it too.
Our manor is located very near the railway station making train travel very easy. We are one kilometer from the Autoroute entry.
You can also arrive by boat during the summer season. Our lake is connected to two other lakes with regular boat service. Bicycles are easily rented and there are hundres of kilometers of bike trail to follow. Our area has a rich historical past, which is why we house a
Studies Abroad for the University of Georgia. You can follow 17000 years of history starting with the Latenium museum in Neuchatel, Neolithic village in Gletterons, Roman town of Avenches.
In July there is an opera festival in the Roman arena of Avenches.

We spent 10 days over Christmas in this house with 11 adults and three children and had a wonderful time. The house itself is charming, it was very well equipped with dishware for all manner of cooking and with ample linens for the beds. The owner was also most helpful, and was kind enough to meet us at the train station upon arrival. The house is very spacious, it was well heated, and the laundry facilities were good.
The train station is a 1 minute walk from the house, which made it very convenient to launch day trips. The town itself, while a bit quiet, is also adorable and easy to navigate.
There were just a few small constructive comments I might make:
- There was no cleaning provided during the 10 days. Normally at least every 7 days, for such a rental, a cleaner is sent in. Granted, this had something to do with availability over the holiday season.
- We found the wifi not as good as it could have been. One could only get a strong signal while standing in the front entrance.
- We would have liked to have had a modern television so that the kids could watch Christmas movies. We brought an appletv box with us, but the small TV predated HDMI.
My Lady's Manor was a perfect place for a mini-reuion in Switzerland. Six adults and five boys (ages 3-9) could spread out inside and had plenty of room to play outside, too. We used the kitchen for meals and enjoyed the extra large dining room table. Lots of sight-seeing can be done from this location with only a 40-45 minute drive or less to Gruyeres, Bern, Fribourg, Lausanne, etc. The medieval town of Estavayer-le-Lac is delightful; the area around the lake is beautiful. Phyllis, the owner, was gracious and eager to teach us the history and legends of the area (including the Frog Museum story). Grandsons were shocked to find no TV, but managed to find "old fashioned" things to do, like play games, cards, and the piano. Available WiFi permitted us all to use our many devices!
My family traveled overseas for the first time to represent the USA at a World Sporting Competition being held in Neuchatel, Switzerland. I cannot tell you how my first experience in overseas could have gone any better. The owner/hostess of My Lady’s Manor was extremely helpful even before we arrived. Since I had never traveled overseas, I was a constant email nag to Phyllis (owner/hostess) to provide information about Switzerland and things which had nothing to do with her bed and breakfast. She never hesitated to provide help or point me in the right direction. When we arrived at My Lady’s Manor, it only got better. The bed and breakfast was beautiful, spacious, and convenient. With a grocery store across the street and the train station just a few more steps away, we were never wanting anything we could not easily access. The town of Estavayer-le-Lac was absolutely charming and provided the setting for many enjoyable evening walks past shops and along the lake. I would highly recommend My Lady’s Manor to anyone visiting Switzerland. Even though we arrived in Switzerland for a stressful, tightly scheduled sporting event, My Lady’s Manor seemed to magically transform the entire week into a calm, tranquil, and absolutely pleasant experience/event.
If you are familiar with walk scores, My Lady's Manor, in the thriving town of Estavayer, surely scores a perfect 100! Only steps from the train station with its hourly connections, the location affords many leisurely day trips--ours included trips to Murten, Interlocken and Lavaux Vineyards complete with a cruise on Lake Leman (Geneva) and a petite train tour of the vineyards originating at the pier in Lutry. With a grocery across the street and other bakeries, butcher shops, restaurants, banks, drug store, post office and all manor of small shops there is nothing needed you can't find. We enjoyed the quiet meditation afforded by two ancient chapels--the Collegiate Church of Saint Laurent and the chapel of the Dominican sisters. Our group of 10 enjoyed My Lady's Manor for its historic charm, its spaciousness--both inside and out, its places to come together to eat, cook and visit and for the privacy and comfort of its bedrooms. In our eight days there, it quickly felt like home. Phyllis is the perfect hostess with a humorous and vibrant knowledge of the town's history. Her help before our arrival, our time there and her kind send-off will be remembered by all of us for years to come!
We stayed in My Lady's Manor for a local family reunion last summer. We left our hearts in My Lady's Manor! The accomodations were perfect for three families (or more!) to stay in one home. The home is so charming and had such a nice feeling to it. Phyllis is an amazing hostess and helped us in many ways that were unexpected, not to mention convenient! the grocery store is right out the side door and the use of the kitchen was wonderful. We had fun making our own meals and not having to go out. Access to the quaint small town was walkable and the little train ride was well worth taking. The amenities were countless, property very clean and well maintained (especially for an old mansion) and we would definitely recommend the property to a friend or relative. We only regret that we didn't visit with Phyllis more about the Lake Dwellers of Lake Neuchatel which she would have known alot about. My dad remembers hearing about the Lake Dwellers in the early 30's when visiting his family in Bulle, and he didn't think about the connection until we were back home in Colorado. Can't wait to return to My Lady's Manor and hope it's in the stars for us.
We rented My Lady's Manor for a reunion of friends. What a great place. Phyllis was incredibly helpful and attentive every step along the way. The house provided us with plenty of space for the 19 of us to be together and also for people to steal private time away when they needed it. We all certainly loved it so much that we will return next year.
